Description Book One: Arianna is a queen heir and at 20 years old she's now eligible for the crown of wolf shifters. Heirs are trained and groomed so that they're ready, should the queen perish during their time of eligibility.

Of course, there's little chance of that happening. The Red Queen has stood for a century, and her power is beyond reckoning.

Or so Arianna believes, right up until the final tolling of the bells. The queen has fallen. Four heirs will now fight it out for the crown.

Finished: (view spoiler)[This could have been way better than it was. The story felt rushed and Arianna is a little too amazing to be for real. The whole summit was such a disappointment. The author made you think there was going to be some serious challenges in which the chances of survival where limited. When the first one turned out to be a board game I felt let down by all the hype. I have hope the next book will improve as there are plenty of places this series can go between the Wolfs, Bears and now they light and dark Fey the possibilities are endless, or it could just crash and burn because its all just too much. Ch 6 - (view spoiler)[ Hottie gardener has to be the Bear King. I want to see where that attraction leads! This mysterious woman with the lioness familiar is interesting. What if she is a witch? Didn't the beginning of the book say that the wolves and witches mated to create the magicborn wolves - well what happened to the witches? (hide spoiler)]

Ch 10 - (view spoiler)[ and we have a shaky alliance....can we have more kissing? I'm shipping these two! Can't they go to the library to find out more about the fae? I mean if the council has spell books that they don't let anyone see, there has to be other books there too, right? I don't like or trust the council. They seem to have their own agenda. I agree with you, Gillian, that this could have been better, but.....I think it may be first book syndrome (where the first book is a little awkward as the author tries to lay the framework for the series, etc.). The rest of the books have higher ratings, so I am going to try to reserve judgment for now. If the future books don't improve, we can stop when you want.

Ch 4 - (view spoiler)[ I think Violet is a riot. In other news, I am totally shipping Kade and Ari still. I know this is all just build up - the more they cannot be together, the more I want them to be. But damn! Can't we just work it out? (hide spoiler)]

Ch 9 - (view spoiler)[ I don't think it is fair for Calista to ask if Ari is happy - it's OBVIOUS that she isn't and it is because of some of the things that Calista is pushing her to do - like take a mate. If she really wanted her charge to be happy, she would be researching ways to help her. That said, I think Ari is doing the best she can to be a good queen - well, she needs to rewrite the history books to be more accurate (that could solve some problems), but I guess it has only been a couple of months since she's become queen and she has had a lot to do. I'm sad that she and Kade are pushing each other away. :( (hide spoiler)]

Considering what it took to get her to be queen, I would have thought there would at least be a trial or something to dethrone her. I mean, she didn't even get to defend herself at all! (view spoiler)[ I'm not sure we actually get the full answer to that, but we get a little. I have a feeling that the former Red Queen or whoever started hiding the information in the first place, knew that it would weaken the Earthside of the mecca and eventually lead to this very situation that they find themselves in. The big question is WHO is really behind it all?? We still don't know who Ari's father is, and I didn't miss the not so subtle suggestion that the Red Queen was pregnant at the same time as Ari's mother. She could have totally had the baby and given it to Ari's mom to raise. And if she was involved with a Fae.....Ari's father could be a Fae. Maybe even a royal one. What do you think? (hide spoiler)]
