But I'm really liking the book and the pace is great. Really hope we'll soon find out who Eve really is and why people are after her. (hide spoiler)]

The beginning was a little slow for me. Although once the flashbacks started, and I gained some more background on Eve/Ana, it got better.

I can't wait to learn more about the other lifelike's and Evie's siblings. I wonder if any of them are still alive and are just in hiding.

Also, anyone else feel like the "love" between Zeke and Ana happened quick during the flashbacks? There was no buildup. They had like 3 interactions...I still like them together though hahaha.

(view spoiler)[ wow! I’m enjoying this world, and I actually enjoy the flashbacks... a lot! I love learning about Faith, Hope, Ezekiel, Grace, Ralph, and Gabe. I’m very interested in their backstories. I agree Zeke and Ana seemed to fall in love pretty fast, but overall I’m enjoying them together. Interested to lean more! The whole kraken eating and finding garbage was kind of interesting to me. I also think there seems to be a lot of religious symbolism with character names and even some of the locations in this book.... (hide spoiler)]

Woah. Secrets upon secrets! What an intense couple of chapters.
I absolutely did not see Lemon or Ezekiel's secrets coming. Usually, I can guess what the secret is but this time I had no clue. I don't think Lemon's secret is that bad though. I know she and Ana will work it out. Ezekiel however, I'm eager to see what his truth is.

P.S. - Why would Ezekiel think it's ok to bring Ana to Hope's place? Not cool, lol.

And second, it seems like Ezekiel's feelings have more to do with his fear of becoming a murderer like his "brothers and sisters" than with Eve. I want the two of them to discover who they are as individuals before they become romantically involved. (hide spoiler)]

That ending though! Didn’t see that coming... Overall, I couldn’t really get into this book for some reason but there were a lot of aspects that I really liked. The secrets, and the twists and turns kept me interested.Also, some of the places they ventured were awesome. Like, a krakens stomach, how much cooler can it get? However, I just wasn’t really invested in the characters so it was slow read for me🤷🏽‍♀️

I am going to give this a try! I saw from the books page that people who have loved this have also love Sorcery of Thorns and the latter I've read and liked it. SOT is fantasy and this is sci-fi but if there is something similar, like being nice adventure, then I'm in. We will see how this go...

I ended up dnfing it! I just don't think Jay Kristoff's writing is for me! I just finished reading Sorcery of Thorns and I loved it!! Interested in hearing your thoughts on Lifelike and I hope you like it more than me!

(view spoiler)[This wasn't the easiest book to start, two first chapters went so that I was only wondering what in earth was happening and who is who :D But now things went interesting when "lifelike" clearly knew Eve already. But how is it possible that she doesn't remember him? What unkind has he done to Eve's grandfather in the past? Is Eve's grandfather going to die now or is he escaping with the others from the brotherhood. And what's this brotherhood? There is so many questions and little answers... (hide spoiler)]

It's clear (or is it XD) that Eve has been Ana, who has been in love with Zeke and who has been killed. Then I think this random scientist has saved some part of Ana and build Eve. I both listened to the audio and had a physical (ebook) copy, so that helped me (I think) to follow better. I adore Cricket! lol

I did at times reread a paragraph or two in order to make sure I was understanding. I think the world-building has was good.

I'll either post more throughout the day or finish tomorrow since my day is going to be really busy. One of my granddaughters is here from Arizona but she's only here for one night as she is on her way to Oregon to pick up her hubby who's been deployed for 6 months this time around and he's coming home tomorrow!! YAY! So she leaves in the morning to pick him up at the airport. But I ended up loving this one. NEVER thought I would!

(view spoiler)[I'm not sure if 'slow' is the right way to put it (pacing's not too bad for me), but something's off about this book, which is making what could have been a great read into a 'just okay' read. It's more like it's hard to follow what's truly going on besides the past of Eva/Ana. We're getting thrown with a bunch of things with little/zero context. It was an issue I had with Illumane as well, things were happening, but not enough of the conflict was shown/contextualized properly to give it the impact that it should have been. It's like we're told about stuff and expected to follow the story, which is very hard to do with the presentation. The slang doesn't help either. (hide spoiler)]

In regards to Ana/Eve, I'm confused on her as well, I thought she wanted to move towards a future, not cling onto her past. I'm getting mixed messages, and I think that choice shouldn't have come as early as it did. (hide spoiler)]

Finished: (view spoiler)[While the last few chapters and the ending were really exciting and interesting, it was almost too little, too late for me at least. The rest of the book was mostly forgettable, world building lacked context, and I wondered if it was made so for this twist, because I don't think it worked as well as it could have. Characters were passable, but wish they were developed more. I would recommend The Kingdom (again) and The Body Electric that did this sort of plot better. Good news, both are standalone titles. I might continue the series someday, but unlikely. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[I thought Lemon would be Ana and "our Ana" would be someone else but I was so wrong :D Ana wasn't human!! I thought that in the beginning and then thought I was wrong. And I WAS right, didn't see this coming. The ending was good, didn't try to be romantic.
Overall this was interesting read! Not so easy book in the beginning but pays the price at the end! (hide spoiler)]
