I'm tempted to pull out the Washington book but I would have to read a little at a time over some months, since I'm involved in too many other groups, challenges and games!
If it helps Robin we could start in the fall or we could start it next year if you are interested.
I have put the Washington book on my TBR list. But I need to get through The Fate of the Day: The War for America, Fort Ticonderoga to Charleston, 1777-1780 before I start that one.
Does fall ( Sept/Oct) work as a buddy read for Washington: A Life or perhaps the new year instead?
I’m flexible on when to start.

Perfect! As we get closer to fall I will start a buddy read post.
Laura wrote: "hi!!! I'm new here & just trying to figure out Goodreads and groups here"Hi, Laura! Just jump in with anything that strikes your fancy. We are a friendly group.
What do you like to read?
Laura wrote: "how does book tag work"I will give it a stab. Oh, and welcome! This is a great fun group.
Every month we vote and pick a shelf tag to read the following month. July's pick was Speculative Fiction. Starting August 1st, it is Family Drama.
There are 3 choices to vote on, 2 picked by a randomizer, and one posted by a randomly chosen PBT member. Every member automatically has 1 vote but you can earn points to increase how many votes you have available by reading and reviewing books.
For each book you read that in your opinion fits the monthly tag, and post a review here, you earn 3 points. You get 1 point for every 'other' book you read/review here.
Voting happens between 15th and 22nd in the month.
That's the basics for monthly tag reading. You can also check here for more info.
Reading for the monthly tag is an excellent way to get your feet wet here!
Welcome Laura! And also it's a great book club/group because there's no pressure to do every tag/month or anything like that, and like Theresa said, if you read a book that doesn't fit a monthly theme, you still get points for it! :) (Sometimes I just go through and upload a bunch of my non-monthly tag related book reviews in one go lol.)
And if you don't feel like entering a lot of reviews, that's fine too! There isn't really any competition for that part of the group. (We save that for our yearly games!) For the monthly tag, there is no "proof" needed that the book matches the tag, for instance, it doesn't have to be on the main page of the book or have a certain number of tags. In August, if you read a book that you feel contains family drama, you can put it under that category. I just read a rather typical Regency romance, but a lot of the action had to do with the families of the two protagonists, so I would put it under August's tag (except I won't because I finished it in July!)
Welcome, Laura! Just jump in and have fun with us - you'll find your reading horizons expand with this group, as most of us can attest! There's no pressure to join games, you can just mingle and chat or lurk if you prefer. We're a pretty laid back bunch!Oh, and Theresa forgot to mention the one thing that first piqued my interest in this group back in 2008 - every month we raffle off a $20 (or is it now $25?) Amazon gift card. You get into the raffle by posting reviews of books you've read for the tag of the month. Each review gets you an entry in the raffle and the winner is picked by a randomizer.
If you want to tell us any more about yourself (optional, of course), you can use the thread PBT Members - Who Are We? Or you can glance through it like I did when I joined, and found that Theresa grew up less than 10 miles from me. We were on opposite sides of a state line so we never met until PBT,

I don't like abridged versions of books, either.
