Yes her books are so good. The end of champion was heartbreaking. It left me hanging

Yes! It's hard enough for women to get recognition, but if you're a woman of color? Ha, good luck with that! I admire Marie Lu since she got as much recognition as she did, at least from Goodreads.
Also, I would argue that maybe her books are too similar to THG, but from the synopsis I don't see much familiarity with anything published before. Plus, I don't doubt her books are as interesting, if not more, than the Divergent series, which is more popular for some reason.

Ever from Evermore, Bella from Twilight, Gale from Hunger Games, Eowyn from LOTR, Day from Legend (sorry people!), Rachel from Percy Jackson (again, sorry, just my opinion). Ummm...Bethany from Halo, Jordan from TMI.
I think generally at the moment (outside of readers, more like in movies etc), any dystopian is called a Hunger Games copy .-.

America from The Selection. I swear that girl is the worst decision maker in the history of time. She also has a serious problem with thinking about anything with any sort of complexity.
Same! America couldn't keep a decision for a chapter!
I think I hated every main character from The Selection series. The side characters I won't be too harsh on, since they could have been really good if Kiera Cass hadn't reduced them to shaky stereotypes. Aspen came off as sexist to me, Maxon came off a loser (and not the hot awkward kind) and America was praised too much by the author for "not being like ze other girls". Because God forbid a girl be interested in girly stuff, like how her hair and her clothes look! How dare they feel the need to look pretty for themselves!
Amee, you're so right! I found America a little annoying too, but mostly because she was a TERRIBLE decision maker. She kept begging and begging for more time, and i was like, "they're not going to wait forever! better hurry up or BOTH of them will dump you!"

I know, right? I wanted to slap her and tell her to stop wasting her time moping over which decision to make. She should have just dumped both of them and lived her life happily by herself (or with her family) as whatever caste she would end up as if she didn't win The Selection. I forgot which. Even if that can't happen, she could at least make up her mind already. If she hadn't asked for so much time, the whole series would be wrapped up neatly within the first book; which is how I think it should have been.

The King of Adarlan (Throne of Glass)And Arobynn Hamel (Throne of Glass)
^^ Those two are sadistic. -_-

Honestly, I don't know why Divergent is so popular. I get THG, because it has an interesting-sounding plot that intrigued a lot of people (I know it did me when I first heard of it). But Divergent is just like all other YA dystopias that tries to mimic its success, it just happens to be more popular than most. Honestly, the plot didn't sound that interesting to me, or at least not as interesting as The Hunger Games' or Legend's when I first heard of it.

I wish they made a legend movie is pay to watch that
Guys don't laugh but you know that guy from the Hannah Montana movie that she dated
That's funny because I had never heard that before when I read the book that's just who I mentally imagined as him
Haha you must read this Amee!!! :DAnd yeah- if this movie is bad I will be SO angry- they almost always fail at casting movies!
I know thg cast was perfect though
The Maze Runner cast is perfect!I love thg cast, but it wasn't what I pictured in my mind (Katniss was plainer, Gale was paler, Peeta wasn't as angular)
I liked thg cast, and I'm not sure about tmr, but I do know that Hollywood has a tendency to whitewash entire movie casts, so I'm deeply worried about Legend.
Also, wouldn't you guys think that it would have been pretty cool if they cast a PoC actress as Katniss? Jennifer Lawrence was very good, too, but I feel like Katniss shouldn't have been Caucasian... maybe of Native American descent? Or even South Asian? It just doesn't make sense that with all of these cultures present in America the only races that survived are black and white. I like how some of the marketing material the movie uses suggests more diverse people live all over Panem, though. I particularly liked the posters they made displaying heroes from different districts...

I know Marie Lu wouldn't let them whitewash her cast. She's done drawings and talked about how she has images in her head and submitted pictures of blond asians, so she's really into all of her characters being as Asian as they're supposed to be.That's true- the cast itself is quite diverse, but I've never really minded Katniss as a Caucasian. That's how I pictured her, so I've never thought of anything else.

Phew! Good to know she'll be making sure her cast is how it's supposed to be.
Well, everyone pictures characters differently. It WOULD be pretty hard to cast someone according to everyone's visions. I didn't get to picture her myself, since I read the books when the movies already came out and I knew the cast. I pictured her as Jennifer Lawrence, but I also kind of felt like she could have looked different...
