ALVAR’S SPEAR named 2017 Foreword INDIES Book of the Year Awards Finalist

“Choosing finalists for the INDIES is always the highlight of our year, but the job is very difficult due to the high quality of submissions,” said Victoria Sutherland, founder/publisher of Foreword Reviews. “Each new book award season proves again how independent publishers are the real innovators in the industry.”
Alvar’s Spear, by Charles Freedom Long, is his second novel named as finalist in the INDIE BOOK OF THE YEAR AWARDS. It has been called “archetypal science fiction: wildly imaginative, thought-provoking, and thematically profound. . . Similar thematically to Ursula K. Le Guin’s seminal novella The Word for World is Forest (1972), the story is undoubtedly a powerful read. Ideas explored include prejudice, acceptance and unity, but ultimately, the questions asked are deeply spiritual in nature."
Charles Freedom Long’s books are available for loan in many local libraries, on sale at Independent Bookstores, and on Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.com in both paperback and e-book.
