Thanks Adam! That’s what I was picking up and you related it well.
Just got to Ch17. (view spoiler)
Can’t wait to find out! The gore in this is excellent! 🤓🤣

No problem, I hoped it would end that way - would have been disappointed to read on if that was not the case! (kidding)

Elke (misspider) | 651 comments So, here comes my review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Only now did I take a closer look on the book cover and I think I'm glad I have the older edition, which looks much more intriguing and mysterious (as to what the story is about) to me and does not have the 'alien horror' spoiler in its title. I also love the "be kind, rewind" sticker!

Many thanks to HA and Adam for offering this group read which made me get of my a** and finally read this fine book!

Ginger | 3903 comments I finished as well! It was great and a lot of fun. Well done Adam and thanks for taking the time to chat with us on this group read. I really enjoyed it!

Adam Cesare (adam_cesare) | 22 comments Thanks so much everyone for the kind words. If I can be annoying for a quick second (who am I kidding, I can be annoying for hours, maybe even days at a time), Amazon reviews help me out so much. Especially if you checked the book out as an audiobook, Audible reviews will keep the book in front of prospective readers.

THANKS! Really appreciate ya'll taking the time!

I'll double check if my review is up there....

Nicos | 123 comments So Adam, Char told me to pose this question to you: How much of Video Night was inspired by the 1986 horror movie classic Night of the Creeps if at all? The plot summary sounded similar and I was just curious given what else the book seems to be drawing inspiration from.

Elke (misspider) | 651 comments I always upload my reviews at least to amazon and lovelybooks (a german book community), so no problem.

I also like to know I have some backups, should GR ever mislay a review (though I think that didn‘t happen anymore recently).

Adam Cesare (adam_cesare) | 22 comments Hi Nicos:

NIGHT OF THE CREEPS is definitely one of the top touchstones. As is DEADLY SPAWN (1983) and, on a lifecycle/ecological level, ALIEN. But I tried to take all those tropes and shoot them through with some John Hughes earnestness, but while Hughes was someone working in the '80s with an eye towards nostalgia for the late-50s/early-60s, I was someone writing in the 2000s looking back at the 80s (that I'm barely old enough to have been a part of). So it's a lot of remixing and pastiche, which doesn't work for everyone, but I feel like I "got it out of my system" with my first novel (this one).
