The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka is a Short Story written in Germany around 1915 that is written in 3rd person. This story was extremely interesting and unique. This story wasn't your average fairytale or science fiction. This story truly got you thinking and questioning what was going on. This story was definitely a 4 out of 5 stars. What I personally really enjoyed about this Short story was that since it was so unique and uncalled for you were constantly having to think and reanalyze what was going on and you could then create themes and make it more interesting. Some of the themes I was able to draw out where the absurdity of life and the lack of connecting your brain/emotions to your body/movements. Also, a theme was how sympathy lacks depending on the good or bad conditions. Additionally, the loneliness one feels when being put in a bad situation. Overall this story is a need to read, with extreme amounts of suspense and nail-biting foreshadowing there would be no reason not to read!
The Metamorphosis starts off when the main Protagonist Gregor Samsa wakes up not as himself and barely able to reconcile himself realizing that he is no longer living in a human body but a bug! As Gregor realizes this unreal and extravagant event he realizes his real life, however, has not stopped and he must approach his family and world outside his bedroom. When Gregor was finally able to get out of his bedroom as expected his family was in great surprise and shock. Immediately his family discusses work and how it will have to change in regards to his new life form. While in this time Gregor takes some time to ponder his life and the relationships specifically his family relationships. When in the time of his pondering Gregor notices that his family and parents are still extremely terrified and Gregor starts to become concerned. To find out the twist ending read this extremely interesting short story and understand!
