something by stevie wonder? whit? :) glad it all went well, duke!"
Oh Tech..techy boy..how could you get it soo wrong..you of all people..and it is an artist you ought to know well, being as he's from Jamaica!
It was of course, as correctly suggested by Helen and Tim, Jimmy Cliff's I can See Clearly Now! ;-)
@Tim....Consultant wants to get me in asap to do the other eye, because of my extreme myopia...so I'll be booking to see him in 2 weeks for a check up & then maybe get the other eye done in about a month's time, with any luck. It's all rather disorientating at the moment...as having now got a restored eye..but the other is still shite! I keep walking sideways into things..and me hand eye coordination is now completely screwed! I was trying to eat some peas last night, after getting back home from the hospital....most of them ended up on the floor!
I'm sorta getting by, by keeping one eye closed...just to be able to function..and weirdly I was nearly sick this afternoon, presumably cos me brain hasn't adjusted yet....it'll sort itself out soon, i'm sure.

I don't know that one! :)

good luck with the sight imbalance, and do try to not pea the floor! :)

Yes..but I prefer Cliff's version! :)
Pea on the floor....funnily enough, I've had to resort to sitting on the bog since the op..cos I've can't shoot straight standing up, at the moment! It's really hard to focus....I don't think my brain has worked out WTF has happened yet! :)

Right gonna do this quick, cos i'm bushed tonight, and I've got a thumping headache.
Two songs tied at 27 points, but the excellent North American Scum by LCD Soundsystem scored 4 max points to my nom East West by The Paul Butterfield Blues Band, which scored 2 max points. So congrats to Tim for a cracking nomination!
I take the middle spot for my nom & mopping up thirds with a song by a band I don't usually like, but Hit The North by The Fall proved to be the exception, it scored 19 points, so well done Johnny.
Congrats to the winners, and thank you everybody for all the good wishes, much obliged..as well as voting for my nom...I didn't think it would do that well, tbh! :)
Hard luck to Rob...what can I say...except that I think we've had enough of sampling your hooters mate! Here's ya wooden spoon! :)
Some of you struggled with round, I have to say I enjoyed it.
Note to oneself...must get reacquainted with the polite Mounty cop & his deaf pet wolf.... again! :)

Funny story; before nomming it, I'd never even heard the LCD track. I did a search on 'Zon's digital music lists, and wrote down about four or five for each compass point before picking one. Listening to the song, I heard echoes of The Fall in it, so it's ironic that a couple of voters who don't enjoy the Mancunian gods, loved the song. Cheers guys! :-)

hey folks - Cornish is back!!! :)
sorry, rob, i don't enjoy making cheap jokes about other people's taste in music (oh you little liar!), but that quote put me in mind of a chap that posted on amazon called Cornish Deadhead, whom was oft heard complain about 'anti-music', i.e. rap, industrial, electronic, and especially punk, etc. i miss that guy and the gentle patter we shared! :)
never mind, rob, we all getta zero sometimes!

No, it can't be, Rob, and not least because they let me join in for a start! - LOL!!! ;o>
Sorry I couldn't manage to take part - my Laptop is STILL playing me up and I couldn't get the Playlist to work for me ... GRRR!!! ;o<

Then they go to Rough Trade
To buy Siouxsie and the Banshees
They heard John Peel play it
Just the other night
They'd like to buy the O Level single
or Read about Seymour
But they're not pressed in red
So they buy The Lurkers instead

glad to have donated 50% of your total! if i'd used all my votes (not on that list, buster!) it would have finished with 4.

Anyway....Duke, I remembered another song specially for you! I really hope this isn't the case, yuk:

KJS - I'm a fan of Ed Ball's music, but mainly his work as "The Times".

hey folks - Cornish is back!!! :)
sorry, rob, i don't enjoy making cheap jokes about other people's taste in music (oh you little liar!..."
tech, I see Cornish and his wife every October in Fowey. He hasn’t changed a bit!

There are some amongst us 'discerning' lot, that take great pride of thier wooden spoon nominations Rob! So don't feel down about it... it happens to the best of us, at some point.

Well, Foe, I must apologise for being pointless. And there was me thinking it was at the discretion of the theme setter.

hey folks - Cornish is back!!! :)

I'm less worried about the zero for my nom, more worried about the votes garnered by JA Mumu etc. (and sorry, Foe, you are correct, 3 is not many points - the Rappers got caught up in my "many points" dragnet).
Anyway, whoever this Cornish bloke is, he sounds like he was on the right lines. There's plenty of music that I don't like (The Fall, David Bowie, Coldplay, endless motown tribute acts where the singer announces that he's "going to take us back") but I can see why others do. We all like different stuff, and I'm fine with that, but there is definitely a line in the sand, and I'm afraid that rap and Mumu are on the wrong side of it!
But I'm not Cornish.

hey folks - Cornish is back!!! :)

I can't really argue here..I love King Gizzard! But rap I totally agree with you..it isn't music imo...and Gangster rap is just plain wrong and every level. As for the Mu Mu track..i'm not normally a fan of techno, or whatever that type of music is called...but it was different enough to pique my interest.
We're all different, I continue to be surprised by the oddball nominations & at how some song do so well...but others with I personally think ought to have done better, but don't. Just how it goes....I didn't think i'd get much for my nom in this round.
But I think, it's not about how well or not a given song does..for me..it's finding those hidden gems nominated by others, that I wouldn't have come across due to my musical tastes...that for me, is my interest in these music games.
Furthermore...I am ever astounded, that several weeks could go by with average playlist, to me are a bit 'meh'....then a playlist comes along that just fantastic. One in particular was the 'one album wonders' theme, which I nominated.....the whole playlist was just superb from start to finish! Hence why I've decided to do a 2nd round!
And final note....as foe mentioned..some of themes can be tricky to find a suitable nom for...so that too can throw up some odd nominations..just so a nominator has got something to offer!
Anyway, as the saying goes, It's not the winning that matters..it's the taking part!

Anyway....Duke, I remembered another song specially for you! I really hope this isn't the ca..."
Interesting thinking Helen! Not so much oozing, i'm happy to report, just occasionally weepy! Interesting band name...given that they're as far as one could get from Psyche music..well...the kind I listen too anyways!
Would never had guessed that the once prominent Labour MP, was a Punk! ;-)

Never mind, Foe, we all found something suitable in the end ;-)

Sussex clearly wanted for his choice to be much more of a challenge - and I think that he admirably succeeded in making it just that for almost everyone ;o>

:-D

Um, think you mean that you like psych rock music, Duke. They are called Psyche with an "e" which means something else altogether; their name isn't short for psychedelic! 😀
Glad your eye is ok, hope it continues to recover well & vision is improved.

anyhoo, it's all music! be it that wretched woman, honey g to the pinnacle of a doll by doll live experience (that's my worst to best b.t.w.!), it is ALL music - it's just that most of it is shite! :) if a song/record speaks to me in a meaningful and relevant manner, i don't care if it's synthetic or organic or even two blokes chucking lumps of wood at each other (yes, i have that!), only that i like it!
as a matter of interest, rob, where do you stand in the great grateful dead question? the greatest band to walk the earth or jumped up country boys who never knew their place?

Someone could nom it...why not?! :-)

Um, think you mean that you like psych rock m..."
As Tech would say.....Whit? You mean I've been incorrectly speeling that word from the get go....oh globits!
Getting there....I've finally worked out what my restored eye is now 'seeing'....it's long sighted, cos I can't see faff all close up. The other eye, as I have it and previously the other have been, is very myopic....so you can imagine the difficulty i'm having at the moment trying to focus straight! Ah well...it'll only be a few more weeks (hopefully) and balance will be restored.
Hope you have a speedy recovery.
