This book no longer exists

For a number of reasons, this title is no longer being published by the original publisher - and as it wasn't due for release until June, it technically doesn't exist any more. The author is now self publishing - should I just add an alternate edition or should the original be deleted (seeing as it doesn't actually exist) and a new one added?

People have shelved the original, indicating interest. If the author has announced any information about the self-published edition—release date, cover, ISBN/ASIN for self-pubbed version, something like that—then make a new edition with that info and merge the original edition with it. That way, users who shelved the old one will be moved over to the new one.
