ABANDONED. YA Science Fiction. Teens join a space resistance group. Read in 1990s. (not the Tripod series)

Looking for a YA science fiction book I read in the 90s but it’s probably much older. I don’t remember character names but it was about multiple teens/kids that somehow join a space resistance group. (Not the Tripod series)

They may have met or hid out in a barn?

I know the resistance group used certain weapons cautiously as the use would identify them as part of this group. Their weapons included a type of exploding stun ball and a ring/watch that would temporarily make the wearer appear as a 8 foot monster. Both were used in a fast paced chaotic scene that may have included climbing through air vents?

I’ve wanted to find this one for ages, not a lot to go on, any leads appreciated.
