I'm in the middle of chapter 5 and I read your spoiler, how is this d--- head so arrogant to think she's forcing marriage because he's just so hot?!?!
Lorien wrote: "I'm in the middle of chapter 5 and I read your spoiler, how is this d--- head so arrogant to think she's forcing marriage because he's just so hot?!?!"I finished reading and yes, Vander is a d***head. He spent all his time in stables dressed shabbily and yet he thought himself hot. He went on and on about his moonbeam and indirectly mocked her poem but (read this spoiler only after you finish reading)(view spoiler)

I'm about half way, the only redeeming quality Vander has so far is he likes Charley. I don't 100% care to his "Crimp" nick name, but whatever.I do adore Lancelot, "a sofa with legs"

Sofa with legs and prefers to eat and sleep:)
Lorien wrote: "Did her publisher send her a book from Lisa Kleypas??"Yes. First he sent Julia Quinn’s and then Lisa Kleypas.

Haha!

Oh I missed Quinn's, problem with doing the audio version.
Lorien wrote: "Oh I missed Quinn's, problem with doing the audio version."Their names were slightly modified. Julia Quiplet (Quinn) and Lisa Klampas (Kleypas). It is easy to miss these on audio:)
So we both agreed Thorne was a jerk, Vander is even more so. He's so rude, arrogant, short sighted and selfish.

Yes!
Did you get as tired hearing about Mia's breasts as I am getting?"Do men like women's breasts?"- She can't be that ignorant?

Bored by her breast talk. A romance writer and she was engaged for a year to Edward. She must have known that breasts aren't there just for decoration or to balance her centre of gravity, right?
Priya wrote: "My thoughts on this book1. Vander - Except for the time when he reassured her about her beauty and the last chapter, all he did with Mia was have sex and immediately after, utter some rubbish. I l..."
I agree with just about everything you said. I rounded up and gave it 3 stars. It had good story telling, interesting side characters, but I didn't care for the MC's
I have no idea why Vander didn't pull her old poem out earlier, and if he really had liked her at all back then why was he so against marrying her , before she blackmailed him.
Eloisa posted two deleted chapters on her website. The first one was about Edward and Mia. After I read that, I thought Edward loved Mia more than Vander did and wished she ended up with him.
Yeah, this is one of those times when a side character or the other part of a love triangle seemed like the better fit for the heroine than the hero. Edward's story really reads like a hero's. He's about to marry the girl he loves, gets imprisoned unfairly and then escapes and fights his way back to her.
I felt like I need to read Edward's story as soon as I read that chapter. I want to see how he deals with Mia leaving him for Vander and what kind of girl he ends up with.

Oh lord Lorien, this comment made my day! Here I am cracking up and my family's wondering what the hell is wrong with me! LOL
When do we start Edward's book? I don't have any current read. I am good to start whenever you are ready.
Maybe next week? I think the Brother Sinister BR is starting the next book this week and I'm trying to finish another almost 800 page monster for a book club.

800 pages! Good luck with that.
Seven Minutes in Heaven
All of Eugenia Snowe’s problems start when Edward Reeve, an arrogant bastard son of an earl, bursts into her registry office. He wants a governess and he wants her. She gives him the governess he demands, but she refuses to give herself.
No question that Eugenia enjoys crossing wits with the brilliant inventor, but she will never tarnish her reputation with an affaire, particularly with a man who doesn’t realize she’s a lady!
She holds her ground…until he kidnaps her.
Ward will stop at nothing to convince Eugenia that they’re meant to be together. He promises her heaven.
She gives him seven minutes.
So I started it during the dog walk and I'm already a little confused. So Teddy/Edward Reeve is the illegitimate son of Lisette & Damon the Earl of Gryffyn. Who married Roberta.
And Eugenia Snowe is the daughter of Justinian Strange and his first wife. Who married Harriet, Duchess of Berrow.
And I'd swear the audio book said her father was a Marquess? Even though I just remember him being wealthy?
Edward was engaged to Mia from the last book who grew up knowing Thorne/Tobias, Villiers oldest child. And their fathers are friends, but he has no idea who she is?
And he has two half siblings I assume who were Lisette's then (who ended up being an actress?)
Do I have all of that straight?
I haven't started reading this yet(I am starting tonight), but I am sure Edward is Damon's Teddy and Eugenia is Strange's daughter. Strange is a wealthy lord, but I don't remember if he is a Marquess. Aren't Teddy's two half siblings, Damon and Roberta's children? I don't think Lisette has any other than Teddy.
I listened to more while making dinner and I got it pretty much right, she just doesn't bothering explaining it all until a few more chapters in. Oh and her bosoms have been mentioned at least 4 times. So yay for more bosom fixation.
I started reading and I am at Chapter 4. Obviously, I am wrong and those half siblings must be Lisette's children. I expected her father to put her under medical care after realising she is mad. He set her loose on the society! I wonder why Eugenia is called Mrs and not lady. I believe the daughters of a Marquess are addressed as Lady and they keep their title even if they marry below them.
I am reading it on kindle and love the cover page. It is simple and beautiful. Do you get to see any picture for audiobooks? I mean a small picture as an icon.
BTW, who is this maternal grandmother Edward is talking about. Lisette’s mother died after she gave birth to the baby.
Priya wrote: "BTW, who is this maternal grandmother Edward is talking about. Lisette’s mother died after she gave birth to the baby."I thought that too, but wasn't 100% sure, so I went back and checked and yep, she's dead.
Page 79 of A Duke of her own
"There was a catastrophe,. Beatrice quite lost heart, and when she was carried off with pneumonia a mere year later. I knew the real cause."
Maybe she met paternal Grandmother. It'd make more since anyway, Otis's dad was a very young when he married Lisette. His mother probably wouldn't be as old then either.
Did they mention the Duchess of Gilner specifically?
Priya wrote: "I am reading it on kindle and love the cover page. It is simple and beautiful. Do you get to see any picture for audiobooks? I mean a small picture as an icon."It's the same img as the paperback.

Yes. They mentioned the Duchess of Gilner and it is mentioned that she is Edward's grandmother too.
After I finish reading, I will look for an explanation on Eloisa's website.
Priya wrote: "After I finish reading, I will look for an explanation on Eloisa's website...."I would be curious to know what she was thinking. By the way what is with these recent heros that they can't use their given names?
Tobias to Thorne, Teddy to Ward. Evander to Vander made more sense, but seriously is one more vowel going to hurt you?
In my head head I'm renaming this series "Wealthy men with mostly illegitimate children", and these three books, With Bosoms.
Lorien wrote: ".Wealthy men with mostly illegitimate children, and these three books, With bosoms.."LOL
Desperate Dukes, Bastards and Bosoms.

Love it!
I just finished reading and I loved(view spoiler)I am glad there is no bosom obsession/talk after the initial few chapters.
This book is full of errors. Adding to those we already listed out- (view spoiler)I read the book extras on Eloisa James' website and she mentioned all these as her mistakes. I would blame her team too for missing such gross discrepancies.
With this book I finished not only this series, but also Eloisa's entire backlist. My important observation is all her Heroes happen to be well endowed and good in bed sports(except Simeon, who had been as ignorant as the heroine).

Really Wow!
Honestly after reading these I'm probably going to avoid Ms. James for a while. There was just to many things I didn't enjoy. characters that drove me crazy and plots that felt ill thought out.
