'A place in the mountains?' Hannah asked, thinking carefully. She couldn't recall ever going to the mountains, but she of course knew they existed.

'You've never been to the mountains?' Dev asked, surprised. 'Not even as a wolf?'

Hannah shook her head. 'I never felt like it.'

'It's pretty deep into the forest but it's hard to miss so I guess it'll be your first time,' Dev told her.

'Have you been there before?' Hannah asked curiously.

'Not in a long long time,' Dev told her.

'Then we should go together,' Hannah signed, giving him a smile. 'We'll have to pack a basket though. And maybe we should bring the dogs.'

'Maybe, if you think any of them can make the trip,' Dev told her.

Hannah sighed, not wanting to say what she knew was true. 'I don't know if Lupe could do it, but the puppies should be able to. If they can't, they're still small enough to carry.'

Dev nodded. 'Right. Maybe we could ask Bart or the animal lady to watch him?'

'We could try to ask Bart. I don't think I've spoken to him since we argued though,' Hannah signed.

'Argued about me....' Dev signed, his emotion showing through his gestures.

'Not completely,' Hannah replied, trying to make it a little better. Sure, Dev had something to do with it but it wasn't everything.

Dev looked at her, not entirely convinced but he managed a smile.
'I hope you know I'll stand by you no matter what.'

Hannah offered a smile. 'I know. And it means a lot, so thank you. But to be honest, I don't know what he and I fought about anymore. I hope he doesn't either.'

'For your sake, I hope so too,' Dev told her.

'I'll text him and ask, at least. About watching Lupe, I mean,' Hannah signed.

Dev nodded. 'Right. Do you want to do dinner tonight? With me, I mean?'

'Sure. Dinner sounds nice,' Hannah signed. 'If you want.'

'I've found a way to manage my tastes,' he told her. 'They shouldn't be a problem.'

'Okay,' she replied and gave him a smile. The idea of him eating gross stuff didn't bother her so much anymore because as she thought about it, it was no different than the people who ate pea soup or mushrooms to her. 'No picnic though?'

'You wanted to do that today?' He asked. He thought she wanted to do it when it was warmer.

'Not necessarily,' she signed back, shrugging a little. 'It is kind of late to go to the mountains today anyway.'

'What about Saturday? We can head out early and spend the entire day,' he suggested.

She smiled. 'That sounds like a great idea. Probably shouldn't bring the dogs then. They get tired.'

'I'm sure Bart would watch them all,' Dev said. 'Or perhaps another friend. Do you have anyone else to ask?'
He had never really seen her with anyone else.

Hannah thought about it for a moment. She knew people, of course, but no one else would she really want to burden with her pets. They all had family or other responsibilities she didn't want to interfere with. In the end, she shook her head and shrugged. 'Maybe, but not really.'

'It shouldn't be a problem,' he said.

'I hope not, anyway,' she signed back. 'Should we have dinner at your house?'

He nodded. 'Yeah. Unless you want to head back to your place.'

'I don't mind either way,' she answered. She thought his place would be better, however, since he had the food he could eat.

He seemed to think about it silently for a bit as they walked. Then he signed 'My place is fine, this time.'

The roof was coming into view from their path.

'Is it not all the time?' she signed with a teasing smile, but she thought she had an idea of what he meant. Plus, they were already close to his place so why not.

'Well you can't stay with all of your dogs at home,' Dev said. 'That's the only reason I think." He grinned at her charmingly.

Hannah ended up blushing at his smile and ducked her head as if she could hide it. 'Well I do have my dogs to look out for,' she agreed.

'Maybe if I put up a fence they could come to my cabin, too,' Dev told her.

'Would you want to?' Hannah asked, not really sure about that. Still, it would be nice for the dogs to have another place to go though.

'Sure, they see me all the time. And that's usually why you have to leave so... problem solved.' He shrugged.

'Other than work,' she pointed out and then nodded. 'If you want to, I think it's a good idea.'

He smiled at her. 'Anything to spend more time with you, princess.'

She blushed again and covered her face with her other hand, shaking her head a little. She knew he tried to do that, of course, but she found it funny more than anything.

Gosh, she was adorable. It killed him. He walked the rest of the way with a quiet smile on his face, only pausing to take her free hand again.

She squeezed his hand lightly when he took it, her blush calming down still. Briefly, she wondered if he said those things to make her blush or otherwise how deeply he meant it. She tried not to question it, but as they spent more and more time together, she did start thinking about it more. Her childhood crush on him hadn't ever gone away like she might have pretended so now she tried to ignore how it grew.

He unlocked the door for her then held it open. 'What are you in the mood for?'

She tapped her chin as she went inside, thinking about the question. What did she feel like eating? She couldn't think of anything specific. 'Anything is fine.'

'I will check for anything,' He said, taking off his jacket and putting it on the back of a chair.

She gave a small laugh, noticing how he stressed the word. She pulled her gloves off and made sure to tuck them into the pockets of her jacket, along with the green cap she'd put on to keep her ears warm.

There was usually exactly what he was looking for in his fridge but at the moment he had to think about it. First, when he opened it, there were a few random things inside but nothing that gave him ideas. He closed it and tried again. This time there were ingredients that he could work with so he started pulling things out.

Hannah hung her coat up on a hook by where he'd placed his, and she rubbed her arms a little because she felt a little cold with the lack of it. Luckily, Dev's house was quite warm. She went into the kitchen and sat at the counter, watching what he did.
