'Ready, princess?' Dev asked, passing her the bag to dump into the bowl.

Hannah nodded with a smile and dumped the bag of popcorn into the bowl. She peeked inside to make sure none was left stuck before throwing the bag away. So she just grabbed the bowl and brought it over to the couch.

Dev followed after her and sat down with her. 'Let's get it started.'

Hannah grinned and reached for the remote to hit play and put the captions on. Despite it being her favorite movie, she hadn't seen it in a long time. And well, there was just something special about sharing his first experience of the movie.

He put his arm over the back of the couch behind her, longing to sit closer but she seemed so happy to be watching the movie. He didn't want to make it awkward.

She scooted just a little bit closer to get comfortable on the couch, and put the bowl of popcorn between them as it started.

A small smile played at his lips before he focused his attention on the screen. It started out right away with music.

Hannah had watched this movie so many times when she was little she remembered a time when her mother forbade her from watching it for a little while. She knew it well enough that she knew all the lines. It helped that she related to Ariel, a little, though also not in many ways.

Dev found it a little silly that Ariel would get so worked up, finding it easier to relate to her father's attempts to protect her from the prince. Of course there wouldn't be a story if she didn't do what she wanted anyway.
He shook his head slightly as she gave her voice to the sea witch Ursula.

Hannah sighed when Ariel gave up her voice, since even she knew that was a stupid thing to do. But how was she supposed to know that the prince wasn't going to properly remember her when she got to land? She thought the scenes of when she tried to adjust to life as a human were silly, including the scene where Sebastian had to run and escape the cook, which used to scare her before she remembered he made it out okay.

They made it to the row boat scene and Sebastian's song, kiss the girl. It made Dev pause and look over at Hannah. He knew he wanted to kiss this girl.

Hannah glanced up with a sort of instinct when she felt him looking at her, but it only made her cheeks flush bright red and she looked away again. She...had sort of forgotten about this part.

Dev smiled at her warmly and wondered if he should just do it now.

Hannah tried to get herself to stop blushing, but every time she thought about it, it made it worse. Did he want to kiss her? She sort of wished he would, but she could never say that out loud - or sign it, rather.

Dev moved his arm from the back of the couch to around her gently. Was it incredibly predictable to kiss during a movie? He didn't care. All he could pay attention to was the fact that she was close enough for him to lean in.

Hannah glanced back up at him again when she felt his arm on her shoulders. Her face was still bright red, but she was...trying to calm down. He wasn't really going to kiss her, was he? Not that she was complaining, but...she didn't know how to handle it. Still, she found herself leaning a little closer naturally.

Gosh, she was beautiful. She looked flustered, but she was always like that. Right? He hesitated.

She couldn't quite meet his eyes, because what if she was still just imagining it. Maybe he was just worried about her because of how much and how abruptly she'd started blushing. And what if he just didn't want to kiss her? What would she do then?

Their noses brushed and Dev was just going to go for it.

Hannah felt her heart skip a beat, but she leaned in a little closer.

His lips grazed her but he jumped as there was a knock at the door. He sighed heavily and gave her a playful peck on her cheek before getting up to go see who could possibly be interrupting them.

She was a little stunned, and blinked when he got up, unaware of what was going on. Without the dogs to help notify her, she was sort of lost until he went to the door Not to mention how...her mind was sort of racing to the point that she didn't even notice the near perfect timing the movie had with real life. He had kissed her- well, not quite, but it was enough to make her wonder a little more solid.

Peter looked in through the window, wondering if anyone was home. When he saw Dev coming he straightened up since it wasn't proper to spy into anyone's home.

Dev sighed again, thinking about his awful luck. "Peter," he said, opening the door. His annoyance wasn't clear in his voice, but it was building in himself.

"Dev," Peter nodded. "Sorry to bother you. I'm looking for Hannah. She's not in the office or at home."

"She's inside. We were watching a movie," Dev said, not moving to open the door further.

Peter laughed. "She's always had a love for movies. I'm curious how much her collection has grown. Can I come in?"

Hannah stayed put, partly to wait for him to come back, and partly to try and get her blush in check. Of course, that wasn't something she was skilled in at all. One would think with how easily she blushed she would have some method, but no.

Dev nodded then, since he had no actual reason to say no. He and Hannah were just friends. He moved aside for Peter to come inside.

"Thank you," Peter said, looking around at the interior. It was a bit dusty, but he assumed it was because Dev spent so much time at Hannah's house.

Hannah stood up when she noticed her brother coming in, snapped out of her thoughts then. And it was Peter, which surprised her a little more. Why was he seeking her out?

'This movie?' Peter said, laughing. He was reminded of his mother taking the tape and hiding it away so Hannah could not watch it again after restarting it consistently for 24 hours straight. His chest hurt slightly at the memory but he smiled at his sister regardless.

Hannah laughed a little. 'He's never seen it before, so we had to watch it,' she explained. 'I'm educating him, you see. I've got all the classics.' She gestured to the box she'd brought with all her movies in it.

Peter glanced in the box. 'Looks like you planned on being here for a while.' He smiled at her.

Maybe he was interrupting. There could be a chance that he didn't actually have to say anything to either of them.

'Well we had to get started before I need to start bringing out the Christmas movies,' Hannah explained. 'He didn't even know who Frosty was.'

Dev shook his head, smiling at Hannah from the door way.

'That's because none of these movies exist where we- he's from,' Peter told her. 'But he'll be fine with you to show him.'

'Exactly. It's my job to educate,' Hannah signed, smiling. She glanced over at Dev, but had to look away again soon since all she could remember was what happened right before her brother arrived.

Dev looked down at the ground when she looked away and Peter looked at them curiously. He was going to say something.
'I just wanted to make sure you were doing okay after dinner last night. It got a little strange but I hoped that it went as well as I thought.'

'Oh yes, I think it went fine,' Hannah said. There was a little awkwardness, but she thought that had to do with how they hadn't seen each other in a while.

'Kaina was worried that there was a bit of tension because of Caden's date,' Peter admitted lightly.

'Why? She seemed to be a really sweet girl, I thought,' Hannah signed. The girl had looked a little out of place, but that was probably because she was meeting so many new people.

'She was great,' Peter signed. 'Kaina is just concerned with who her family is and what their goal is sending her here. Does that mean you haven't seen her before?'

'I've seen her before. I was the one who helped her get enrolled into the school,' Hannah replied. 'She was nice then too. I saw where she came from, but it didn't ring a bell.'

Peter bit his tongue in hesitation even though he was signing. 'I... killed her father. The one that hurt you.'

Hannah paused, unsure what to do with that information. She hadn't thought he'd killed him. Had she known that? But that part wasn't quite so disturbing, she supposed, since she didn't believe her brother would do something so horrible again. 'I see. And that's why Kaina doesn't like her? Because they're related?'

'The family is not great. But she seems nothing like them,' Peter said.

'There can always be good ones in the bunch,' Hannah replied. 'She seemed nice, I thought. The whole thing was.'

'Right. Well, I just wanted to make sure that things were okay. With everything,' Peter told her.

Hannah nodded and gave a smile. 'Yes, I think everything is okay,' she promised.

He resisted the age old urge to rub his neck awkwardly. It was something he had to learn not to do in the kingdom. People seemed not to trust him then.

'I'll be going now.'

'Oh, alright,' Hannah signed, feeling bad she was sort of eager for him to leave before she could show any awkwardness. But she wondered why he'd taken the effort to come. 'Do you still have my phone number? Do I not have yours?'

'Oh, no. I do have it. Briella got it for me. I just haven't seen you in a long time. So I wanted to check in in person,' Peter told her.

'That's fine, I just wanted to make sure,' Hannah signed. 'In case you just wanted to text me in the future, for whatever.'

'Right,' Peter replied, getting the feeling that she was getting impatient.

He turned to Dev and saw he was still glancing at the ground. Then turned back to his sister to give her a hug.

Hannah smiled and hugged her brother tightly. She was glad to be able to do it again after so long of not being able to. It made her feel guilty for wanting him to leave, but at least there was promise of more time in the future.
