Two competing detectives male and female. They are both hired to solve a murder threat for a lady of the ton. The threat is sent in gruesome art displays. The detectives had met in Paris when the guy was investigating the girl. He gets injured. They meet again in England at an investigation scene. It is the first book in a series. They end up working together to solve the crime. It becomes a love/ hate partnership. They decide that they should become partners for future cases. Set in the early 1800's.

I read it a couple of years ago. It was a hard cover but I don’t remember the cover. I have looked in the area that it was but I can’t find it. It was the first book of the series.
