Yes, I have been to many, many of the places Harold went to in the book. I live very close to a lot of them, so have visited many times. Living in Newcastle upon Tyne, I used to go to Berwick twice a month, and each summer they have an International Music Festival there. I go to Berwick far less often but used to go to Wooler for our ukulele retreat, strange Harold should have ended up there, but he did. Anyway!
You can download The Invisible Man here:

I have also started Rachel Joyce's accompanying book to The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry, The Love Song of Miss Queenie Hennessy.
Hope your reading is going smoothly!
Or smoothy. I like smoothies.

I really tried to have the mindset of a Victorian age reader while I was reading this book and I found this book terrifying. I do not know if I should be more scared of this new modern science, albino people or the fact that Griffin's books on invisibility are still at large. I really tried to feel sympathy for Griffin and was trying to find that one thing that made him so vengeful and I could not find it, this guy was just a mean dude with an attitude. I could understand that it is hard to be an albino person in Victorian times and I am sure people in his life were not very understanding. I loved reading The Invisible Man and now I am interested in reading other books by H.G. Wells as well. I am glad I took a chance and read this book. I think it is great that you are reading Queenie's side of the story. Please let me know how it is, I have been debating reading it for awhile.
Best,
Kristina

Forgot to post this the other day!
This had been on my To Read list for some time. So glad to finally get to it.
Completed!
Book: Words in Deep Blue
Author: Cath Crowley
Date Completed: 4/14/18
Partner's (Rachel Reads) Rating: ★★★★☆
My Rating: ★★★★★

I love your well-written description of your feelings whilst reading The Invisible Man, it had always been my understanding that the serum which caused Griffin's invisibility may have been what tipped his feelings over the edge, much as in Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, but it has been a few decades since I first read the story. I think I may be due for a re-read. Hells bells, you can't go wrong with Welles!
As for the companion book to Harold Fry, it reads simply, the chapters are short enough and Queenie has her own story, written in shorthand and typed up by one of the nurses. I'm not that far in, but as in the first book it is the little things that are remarkable for their familiarity.
I also see you are reading The Complete Sherlock Holmes. I have been to 221B Baker street - 2 years and 2 days ago...

Thank you for being my little copy cat kitten, it's been a pleasure!

PS. 221b again. https://www.flickr.com/photos/jazzyle...

I think that it is so amazing you were able to go to Sherlock's home, it must have been a great time. Thanks for your thoughts on Queenie. And it has been so much fun being your copy cat!

O..."
Sorry for not being active and replying to the comments! I've been busy with school works.
I'm very glad you enjoyed Ready Player One!!
Optimist Die First is also a nice book! I hope you enjoy this as well.
Oh your story of getting the book is quite amazing:)
It's same with mine.
I was trying to get The Night Circus from the public library, but couldn't get them, so I ask the librarian at the school if they had any. They didn't but the librarian(bless her) told me she'll order it and she gave me the book few days later!!
I had the book for a week but sadly I couldn't find time to read. I'm hoping to start reading it soon though!!

Yes, it was a marvellous time! I had been to London before but always on tour, so wasn't free to walk around and take in the sites. Someone gave me the train tickets and I booked a hostel and spent the weekend. I also got tickets to a special showing of Monet paintings from my friend. I met up with another friend at the museum and we went out to dinner after and my feet were killing me, having walked around in brogues since Friday and it was Sunday so had to nip in a shop and buy some trainers. It was a great time and I went on the Beatles 'A Day In The Life Tour' which I highly recommend. And I saw Paul McCartney's London home, which is really quite modest, but he was in North America at the time.

I finished Animal Farm and really liked it, was much better than 1984, in my opinion.
I gave the book 4 stars.
Annie

That trip sounds amazing! I am officially jealous. My favorite band is The Beatles and it has always been a dream of mine to be able to go to London and pretty much everywhere else in England. I looked up the tour you went on and it sounds like a lot of fun. I found the companion DVD and book to the tour so I am debating which one to perchance. I WILL make it to the U.K someday even if I am old and gray and I will be putting all these tours on my list.
Kristina

Shall I make you really jealous? I have been a life-long fan of Paul McCartney and I finally saw him at Rock Werchter in Belgium! I even stayed with a man who runs a Beatles club online and his lovely wife. He speaks French and a some English. His wife speaks Dutch, French, and fairly good English. I speak English, a tiny bit of Dutch and even less French. It was good fun trying to translate things between us.
Our day at Rock Werchter, filled with peril and adventure. Paul's photos toward the end of the album. https://www.flickr.com/photos/jazzyle...

PS The next day we saw highlights on French telly and found ourselves in the crowd!

Even though I found a good quote, and enjoyed reading about the places I know so well and have been to so often, I really don't like the sequel to Harold Fry, but will persevere til the end. I hate romance and love stories anyway, but she had convinced herself she's in love with Harold, and that's not love, it's not even romantic! At least I don't think so. I'd think she was some crazy stalker lady and glad she moved away. Also the story is so unbelievably contrived! I'm terribly disappointed in it. About 110 pages or so to go then I can give it away. At least i'm also reading Swann's Way by Proust, and although people think he's long and boring, I do love his beautiful words.
C'est la vie!
Jazzy x

Thank you for your thoughts on Queenie's side of the story. The plot sounds interesting, it was not what I was expecting at all. I think I may take this one off my list of books to read. My local library has Swan's Way and I think I will check it out sometime. I enjoy finding new books I normally would not pick.
Best,
Kristina

I finished Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter. I'm going to give it 5/5 stars. I think Karin Slaughter is becoming one of my favorite authors. I'm going to start checking out more of her books.
Missy

I feel the same about Karin Slaughter! I've been reading the Will Trent series (about 1 or 2 a month) ever since I read Pretty Girls. I have yet to be disappointed.
I finished Carry On. I really liked it a lot. I rated it 4/5 stars (I think you had the same rating). I loved the story but I had some minor issues with the beginning and the ending. Lol!

I am very glad that you enjoyed The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry. I would agree with you about the ending, but it was a fun adventure! I also think that it is amazing that you live in an area that was featured in the book. I think it would be so much fun to be able to follow in the footsteps of a character. I requested The Invisible Man from the library so hopefully it will be on the bookmobile when it comes to town today and I can start reading it this week!
Happy Reading,
Kristina
