Android - Can no longer find .aax files

I want to keep all my audible files on an sd card - I have been leaving it in my tablet and back it up and then back them up to storage to make sure everything is ok. Up till last week, it has worked fine. Now this evening, I can no longer find my files in my storage. Is this no longer allowed?
