Finding a PenPal - Start Here

HELLO! Thanks for joining PenPal Readers Group! So, you're here to find a PenPal? Awesome! We've got over 1600 members of all ages from all over the world, so we're sure you'll find a match. Here's some tips to help you succeed in your quest to find a PenPal(s) :)

1️⃣STEP 1: POST A REQUEST to one of the 'Seeking a PenPal' threads
Depending on how you prefer to communicate with your PenPal, you would choose:
- General PenPal Requests (any communication method) thread
- Goodreads Messages/Email PenPal requests thread
- Snail Mail PenPal requests thread

* We also have PenPal threads by age grouping, so feel free to post in the appropriate age group thread if you're looking for a PenPal close in age to you.

2️⃣STEP 2: RESPOND TO A REQUEST - Browse through other's posts on the 'Seeking a PenPal' threads. There are lots of members looking for a penpal, just like you. So be sure to message a few people who seem interesting to you. Don't be shy! Start some conversations, and see where it leads.

To send a message to someone, simply click on the person's name to visit their profile page, and then click on the 'Send Message' link beside their name. (you do not have to 'add as friend' to be able to send them a message).

3️⃣STEP 3: PARTICIPATE in group activities
- We have challenges, buddy reads, social discussion threads and more. All of these are great ways for you to start a conversation with different members , about different topics which can often lead to the start of a correspondence.

MOST IMPORTANT TIP: DO ALL THE STEPS :)
If you only do STEP #1, you may not find a PenPal as quickly. So, reach out to a few others and say hello :) You'll find our group members to be friendly, interesting, passionate about books, and happy to connect with others from around the world!
