Ch 14 - (view spoiler)[ So, my youngest kid and I binge-watched the Trollhunter series on Netflix a couple of months ago. I couldn't help but think of the show during that battle scene.

So this Heyer guy doesn't really seem very helpful considering he is the one that put Jonathan in this mess. I feel like he should be training him or something. (hide spoiler)]

Ch 25 - (view spoiler)[ These lies are really bothering me!! Why can't Jonathan just tell his friends? Did he forget how cool they were about his superpowers in the timeline that got erased? I think they would understand.

Finished - (view spoiler)[ Ugh, I'm so disappointed that Leah is working for the govt. At least there is a hint of hope that she isn't just mindlessly taking orders - she seems to have a brain of her own.

The explanation of why the whole gate/battles exist was a bit of a downer. Perhaps the next book will make some progress toward eliminating the agreement, especially with this Rylee on her way to meet Jonathan. I wonder what would happen if Jonathan went through the gate before the Ferox stepped through to Earth??? (hide spoiler)]

Ch 18 - (view spoiler)[ Whoa, that was intense with Rylee! I can't imagine being about to get it on with Leah, then having what I can only call "mind-sex" with Rylee only to be physically dropped back into place with Leah. Talk about a cluster-f!

I'm also wondering how Grant is going to fit into the plot. Clearly, his father is part of the same group that Jonathan's father was in,
but it still isn't clear how Grant knew about Jonathan before he started dating Paige. (hide spoiler)]

Ch 28 - (view spoiler)[ I am starting to get annoyed with the writing. There is too much explanation of everything. I was so excited with Rylee's showing up, and the implication it might have with Jonathan's relationship with Leah - but now that I've slogged through so many pages of discussion between Hayer and Jonathan (and it looks like it continues in the next chapter) - I'm tired! Can we get back to the meat of what is going on? (hide spoiler)]

Ch 34 - (view spoiler)[ Oh thank goodness, Heyer and Jonathan went there separate ways - that discussion had to be the longest in book history. If it takes Jonathan just as long to explain it to Rylee, I am going to be PISSED OFF!!! Why do author's do that? I am reading a damn sequel, that means I am already willing to believe some strange shit without it being spoon fed to me. GRRRRR.

Oh, but now we get to have a fun scene with Jonathan's mom, so maybe we will get a whole chapter in before we get weighed down with more tedious talk about the Never and the gates. (hide spoiler)]

Finished - (view spoiler)[ I can't believe Rylee is gone, or that Heyer couldn't figure out how to somehow get Malkier's implant out and send him back without Rylee having to die! That was messed up!

I don't think I am going to continue the series. The ending was exciting, but there were about 200 pages of tedious unnecessary explanation of all the sci-fi stuff in the middle there. I might have DNF'd this book if it wasn't for this BR.

I cringed so hard when he compared the creature holding the dead guy by his head to a basketball player holding a ball.. but hey, it worked. (hide spoiler)]
Chapter 20: (view spoiler)[NO NOT SUPERMAN VS BATMAN! I haven't see that movie and I still don't think Batman would win against Superman. (hide spoiler)]
Chapter 30: (view spoiler)[I love Jonathan's friends. They are so funny. I like their whole comic idea and I loved the talk about Rocky.. even though I haven't seen any of the movies. (hide spoiler)]
Finished: (view spoiler)[Well that ending was kind of disappointing. Such a let down. I expected more - especially with a great prologue! I'm hoping book two will explain what happened in this hot mess of a book? Especially with adding Rylee to this mix. (hide spoiler)]
