I read this a few months ago. It's a delightful book in which the castle is, in some ways, a major protagonist. There isn't much plot, because it's about how four women change in the space of as many weeks, by being in a strange and almost magical setting. My detailed review is here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The villa San Salvatore acts like a magic spell slowly infiltrating the stiffness and solitary, self-absorbed natures of four women who begin to blossom like the spring blooms they are surrounded by.My review here:
The Enchanted April by Elizabeth von Arnim
I read this quite some time ago but do hope to read it again. I also really enjoyed the film (before I read the book). The link to my brief review is here:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Here is my review. I think I would like the film more than I liked the book.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Here's mine: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...I really enjoy her writing style. I also liked the film--found Joan Plowright particularly good as Mrs. Fisher.

"...Mrs. Wilkins becomes Lotty—intuitive, sensual, self-confident; Mrs. Arbuthnot loses her religious self-righteousness. Lady Caroline finds herself with "that really rather disgusting suspicion that her life till now had not only been loud but empty," while Mrs. Fisher starts to feel a "very odd and exciting sensation of going to come out all over buds."..."
