There is a small romance subplot that I can't remember well, but the main plot is that there a string of murders of priests, all of whom have been set on fire. I believe the main character is female and maybe is an FBI agent?
The book has pretty short chapters I believe and I think they were told from different perspectives, including the killer.
I thought it might be by Lisa Gardner because I read a lot of her books, but I looked through her books and couldn't find any that matched this.
(view spoiler)[ Eventually, it turns out the priests have all been accused and/or committed crimes. I think their crimes ranged from molesting children to adultery and stealing funds. Near the end of the book, the killer kills a priest who is actually innocent. It also comes out that the killer is the daughter of a priest. The priest has two daughters, one of whom is more rebellious and troubled, and at first, the main female character assumes it is her, but it turns out to be the other daughter. The killer then tries to kill her father, but if I remember correctly, I think the main female character shoots her before she can light the gasoline on fire. I think it also comes out at the end that there was a house fire involving possibly the killer's family in the past that was thought to be accidental, but in reality, was on purpose because a man was abusing his child and the fire was a way to kill him. It might have been that the killer's grandmother set the fire to kill her husband, the killer's grandfather because he was molesting either the killer or the killer's mother. (hide spoiler)]
I might have some of the details wrong but this as much as I can remember right now. Thanks!
