Well done Foe for the highest score, and double well done to Anita for scooping the rest :)

Don't worry about the dessert trolley, suzy - I'm taking very good care of it in your absence :)

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments Ohhh no you don't?!! ... "WAITER! - please padlock the Dessert Trolley until I get back down the Table to my usual seat!" ;o>

message 955: by [deleted user] (new)

Believe me, after yesterdays BBQ, I'm not eating much of anything for a week!
I hate to see food go to waste so I did my best to make sure that didn't happen :)

Besides, I'm not really much of a dessert person, and not just because I never save any room :)

My sis-in-law once held up a Swedish train (no, she wasn’t armed) in Jönköping station. Their group’s bus was late and the train was about to leave without them. She could speak a little Swedish and ran along to the driver’s cab and begged him to let them on. He was so surprised, he agreed!

Not long home from my second cataract removal so I'll have a good excuse if I've entered anyone's selections wrongly. I've got a play tomorrow, Christmas In July at my daughter's on Sunday, James Bay on Tuesday and Joshua Hedley on Thursday so I'm just hoping I'll be seeing straight for all of them.

Val H. | 22142 comments suzysunshine7 wrote: "P.S. ... what is 'Christmas In July?'"

Because December 25 falls at the height of our summer, it is usually very hot. Some (like us) still press on with a traditional Christmas dinner (roast turkey, pud, etc), others favour crayfish and salads. Christmas In July is just another opportunity for get-togethers with family/friends in our mid-winter. We usually do the silly dress-up thing - tacky Christmas jumpers, reindeer antlers, etc. We don't do presents but there will be a tree and decorations and we'll sit down to a three-course hot meal, soup, roast and dessert. Weather permitting we may play some outdoor games like Kubb and/or ladder golf, or indoors, a couple of rounds of Cards Against Humanity or Uno. It's just a bit of fun.

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments That sounds fantastic, Val! ...

Val H. | 22142 comments Tonight's result:

St Kilda Saints (Lez) v Richmond Tigers (Philip)
1.2.8 (Q1) 6.4.40
2.3.15 (Q2) 11.7.73
5.7.37 (Q3) 14.10.94
8.9.57 (Q4) 16.15.111

A stonking victory for the current Premiership team and it's fitting that their chief supporter Philip had the closest margin (Tigers x 48). $6.00 set aside for Canteen. Well played Philip!

Blimey! That was quick Val. I had to wait 6 weeks minimum before I could have the second eye done, just in case there was any issues with the first op. They must do things differently down under! Maybe being upside down, expedites recovery time, or summin'!!! ;-)

Anyhoo..how the sight now Val?

message 998: by theDuke (last edited Jul 21, 2018 06:33PM) (new)

theDuke | 6491 comments Well...something really weird is happening today...in one game the away team is winning & the other away team is getting trounced....but not in the order you'd think!

message 999: by Val (new)

Val H. | 22142 comments As seems to be par for the course these days (apologies for mixing my sporting metaphors), there were some upsets today and some really close games. Don't know what happened to the Swans and the Dees must be wishing they'd kicked straighter. Lions finished strongly but needed another goal to win.

Today/Tonight's results:

Collingwood Magpies (Tech) v North Melbourne Kangaroos (Steve)
7.2.44 (Q1) 2.3.15
13.3.81 (Q2) 5.6.36
15.5.95 (Q3) 7.7.49
20.10.130 (Q4) 9.10.64

Sydney Swans (Anita) v Gold Coast Suns (Suzy)
6.4.40 (Q1) 1.5.11
6.7.43 (Q2) 7.7.49
6.10.46 (Q3) 9.12.66
8.16.64 (Q4) 12.16.88

Essendon Bombers (Val) v Fremantle Dockers (unwanted)
2.5.17 (Q1) 4.0.24
4.11.35 (Q2) 7.1.43
9.16.70 (Q3) 10.4.64
13.21.99 (Q4) 11.4.70

Brisbane Lions (David) v Adelaide Crows (Deano)
4.1.25 (Q1) 3.4.22
8.2.50 (Q2) 9.7.61
9.7.61 (Q3) 12.11.83
13.10.88 (Q4) 13.15.93

Geelong Cats (awaiting MC) v Melbourne Demons (TheFoe)
2.1.13 (Q1) 2.3.15
5.3.33 (Q2) 5.8.38
8.4.52 (Q3) 11.9.75
16.4.100 (Q4) 14.14.98

I think it's probably more to do with going private. I had the first eye done on Friday 13th (!) - went like a dream but I continued to use my glasses for the week. Saw the specialist again on Wednesday just to double check his measurements, then had the second one done yesterday. It was a different anaethetist and though he said he would just follow the plan from the previous week, I felt much more awake and the op was pretty painful. Another difference was that that side of my face felt numb afterwards, like I'd been to the dentist, and I had a rather nagging headache for the rest of the day. Took a couple of paracetamol at bedtime and woke up fine today. I feel my peripheral vision on the second eye is returning slowly. I went to a play today, no glasses, and the eyes got a good workout with the special effects. Also had no trouble reading my book on the train. I'm planning to drive on Tuesday, all being well. I don't see the specialist now until Aug 21 so I'll press on till then. Still not sure whether I may need glasses - time will tell.
