Craig White | 6727 comments christ, you're deep! :)

yeah, could well be they're under a haircut embargo! it would appear they've spent more time in the barber's than the training pitch (it's the old adage - elaborate haircuts and many tattoos = too much dead time! biggest disappointment so far!

theDuke | 6491 comments The Nigerians were hopeless! Wasn't exactly a shining performance from the Croats either, but they didn't need to do much to win, did they?! Be interesting to see how they fair against Argentina...who will no doubt be PO'd from their first match! Felt sorry for the poor old Peruvian team..they pretty much threw the kitchen sink at the Danes, to get a goal...but just couldn't finish off.

Well, not sure how well Egypt will fair, depends if Salah is going to play or not...but even if Russia does win...I'd expect 1, mayber 2 goal difference, no more. Uruguay ought to beat Russia. But Russia only needs one more game..and they'll go through easily.

theDuke | 6491 comments Well the most entertaining game to date has to been the Spain v Portugal match..that had everything in it...and whilst I loathe the now convicted Ronaldo...gotta hand it to him, gebus..can he kick goals or what?!

Do you think he's even remotely bothered by that fine he's gotta pay? He must be earning that annually, anyway!

message 710: by Craig White (new)

Craig White | 6727 comments probably got that much in his back pocket! an arrogant individual who lacks endearing qualities he might be, but by the beard of allah, he's an extraordinary fitba' player!

message 711: by theDuke (new)

theDuke | 6491 comments Can't help wonder why so many of these top players..are sooo unlikable..off the pitch?! Okay...quite a lot of players are unlikable off the pitch, that seems to be par with being a footy player..but Ronaldo, Messi, Costa and others like 'em...just ramp up the loathing to another level!

message 712: by Craig White (new)

Craig White | 6727 comments I see Serbia have fielded two players with the surname milenkovic - praying that at least one of them is known as 'skinny' :)

theDuke | 6491 comments Well then..i'll just congratulate the Scottish rasta one...as he only got the full house didn't he! Well done mate..and to Nick and Grizzly too!

I'm so peeved off with the Suns..what the blazes happened to them in the last quarter? Decided they had enough and wanted their beds, by the look of things!

Val H. | 22142 comments I've been missing in action again. While "other granny" is having a much-deserved holiday, I am on Monday child-minding duties for the month of June. So I've been going over there on Sunday nights and staying over so C gets a full day's work done on Mondays. So last night we were having a great dinner in ye olde Spottiswoode Arms and watching the very tight game on the big screen there:

Geelong Cats (awaiting MC) v Richmond Tigers (Philip)
4.2.26 (Q1) 1.5.11
5.5.35 (Q2) 5.7.37
8.7.55 (Q3) 8.8.56

I wanna go missing in action too! - do they need Babysitter for any other night of the week, Val? It'd be a bit of Journey there and back again, admittedly, but I've got my Concessionary Bus Pass at the ready ;o>

You might just get here in time for his 18th birthday!! I've been travelling by train and it's taken me forever - our line has been pretty much out of action for 22 months but today was the grand re-opening of our local station and it looks fab. Unfortunately, there are no lifts or escalators yet (in order to remove level-crossings, the line is now elevated), just 6 banks of 10 steps each - okay going down but you wouldn't be in a hurry going up. The State Government has been bribing us weary travellers over the last 2 years with pizza, ice-cream, muesli bars, bottled water, chocolate bars, etc. Today I got a £2.50 voucher for any of the four local cafes plus 2 bags of 12 chocolate bars!

Had to laugh when our State premier put a post up on FaceBook saying:
The last time Murrumbeena Road didn't have a level-crossing, the light bulb hadn't been invented.
The last time Murrumbeena Road didn't have a level-crossing, the zip fastener hadn't been invented.
The last time Murrumbeena Road didn't have a level-crossing, the ballpoint pen hadn't been invented.

To which some wag responded, "You mean to say folk were walking around in the dark with their flies undone and they couldn't even write a letter to complain about it?"

Anyway, despite all the upheaval, I'm one very happy camper with the end result.

Blastronaut | 1061 comments Gotta agree re that Russia result. I mean the Russian team were bloody terrible, yet still managed to knock in five goals. Look at it this way - when was the last time a team ranked, not just as low as Russia, but even outside the top 20, won by that margin in a World Cup match? Somebody's gonna come up with one now and make me look a prat! : )
The look on Vlad's face said it all after the first goal when he shook the hand of the Saudi head of state or whoever it was in attendance. It just had "Nice one!" written all over it.
Everyone thinks everything in the garden is rosy since Septic Blatter and Platini were outed but FIFA and UEFA are both still bent as nine bob notes s'far as I'm concerned.

Blastronaut | 1061 comments Ok cheers Tech. I only check out a new thread every once in a blue moon so am generally unaware of most discussions that take place. Yes, I'll no doubt have some nasty things to say concerning England and their inevitable inept performances. Will probably give The Southgoat a bit of a break tho as he's probably doing his best- in his own rather steady way - to knock a bit of pride and passion into the team. Even a bit of imagination in the last third of the field to go along with the possession that they obviously work so hard on? Not sure we're gonna see any of the above but hey, one can hope....
I shall put any further rants to the thread you've just brought to my attention and leave this one (sorry Val) for what it's meant for.
Nice one.

Seems to be a very odd way of bribing the travellers Val? Giving all that junk food away, and then they expect the punters to climb stairs! :)

Yep! Something very odd is happening in this world cup..most of the top teams are struggling to take out the lower ranking ones...even the Belgies are struggling to push out the Panamanians!

Edit: ah...scratch that..Belgium have just scored a goal! Still..they ain't been that inspiring today.

Didn't realize yer link was to the old Premiere League punt site Tech, tho with it being off-season, they'll surely not mind me intruding for a while?
I don't spend a lot of time online at the minute so my posting'll be to a minimum I'd imagine in any case.

So how many people picked Essendon?? Oh yes, it was just the two, Suzy and GG.

West Coast Eagles (Sussex) v Essendon Bombers (Val)
0.1.1 (Q1) 6.2.38

Mind you, the Bombers are still capable of losing.
