NEW MODERATOR NEEDED

Sadly, our founder and lead moderator, S W Lothian, has decided to scale back his online activities, and that includes his involvement with this group.

SW’s decision to set up a group devoted to books for younger readers was an inspiration. At that time, there was no equivalent, possibly because the usual age group for these books was below the Goodreads minimum. The side benefit was that mg authors suddenly found a space to talk books too. His lead is probably the only reason I continued writing, thanks to the friends I’ve made here.

So, SW’s departure leaves a big hole to fill. Rebecca and I will continue to do our best, but a third hand would be helpful.

In particular, neither of us use the GMGR Facebook group. We’re asking in another place about the value of Facebook to you, but if it continues, we would like the new Mod to look after it.

The duties of a Mod are rarely difficult. Most recently you’ll have seen we've had unwelcome visits from a spammer. We now know how to deal with that. Watching for spam, helping new members (especially guiding them to the right sections) and doing monthly housekeeping is all we’ve found is needed.

So, would you be willing to step up and join the team? If you want to ask more about it, contact Rebecca or myself by message, and of course, if you would like to offer your time, just let us know.

Just went to the Great Middle Grade Reads FB page for the first time. I love it! I pressed Like several times before deciding to come back here and make this comment. I encourage all memebers to visit the page.
Unfortunately, I can't volunteer for the moderator position. But some wonderful person will, I'm sure.

In case anyone is wondering, yes, Rebecca and I would still like another moderator to join us.

It doesn't take much effort, just an evening or two a month, and as much ordinary commenting as you usually do.

Rebecca and I both have multiple books overdue at the publishers and we're also both in the process of moving house (Rebecca is doing way better than me at that at present).

So anyone who'd like to give it a try, even for a short time, would be most welcome.

I would probably have volunteered back in March when you first mentioned the need, but I don't do Facebook. However, I'd be happy to lend a hand here on the group.

Is the FB group still going? I haven't even checked on it.

Jemima is right, though--we need someone to help out here, especially as I will be traveling extensively in the next few months. We need help with the spam patrol, and maybe someone who could take some of the regular features off Jemima's hands (since I've been flopping at that).
