From what I remember....
There's a family, husband and wife and I believe they have two sons. The husband is a teacher and I think in the past one of them have cheated. A girl student approaches the husband and says she believes she's his daughter. He starts to see her secretly, at first in a pub/bar, and then she is introduced to the family. The wife is not particularly fond of the girl and is suspicious about her as things start happening in the home. The young girl claims to have no family or what family relationships she does have are not positive. She has a grandparent that the wife tracks down and they confirm the wife's beliefs that the young girl is a cruel and twisted person. The girl is beginning to get involved with the couple's older son.
I think at some point the husband begins struggling in work and rumours start circulating.
The book progresses and there is another couple that are friends with the husband and wife, and they come for dinner parties etc. This couple have been together for years but eventually split and the girl ends up getting in a relationship with the man. There is a big age gap and it seems that some of the family do not approve and think that the girl is taking advantage of the man. They all end up going on holiday together despite the wife in the family trying to avoid this. The girl and older man get engaged while on holiday and I think she tells everyone over dinner.
Towards the end of the book there is a DNA test which reveals whether the girl actually is the daughter of the husband (I don't remember if she is or not). I think the husband had organised the DNA test towards the start of the story but had obtained the girl's dna without her permission, but the girl finds the test results.
There is also an altercation and the girl ends up 'falling' in the back yard area and landing in the pool, she dies despite the wife trying to save her. One of the sons is arrested I believe but only as they are covering up for the other son which actually pushed the girl (think it's the older son arrested as it seems that he is jealous, when really it was the younger son that pushed her). The wife/mother visits their son at the end in the holiday destination where they are being held and from what I recall, the son hasn't said a word since being arrested.
I think the book was in chapters with the perspective of the husband and wife, and at the end the last few pages are from the son that is covering for his brother.
Any help would be extremely appreciated! Sorry if this is a bit confusing, it's bugging me so much!
