Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Well done, Tiffany! I'm glad to hear you got hooked on your bird book. I got that whole series (to that point) when they were on sale a year or so ago. I've been hoping I'd love them.

I’ve been wanting to read the series and then I got approved to read a book that I didn’t know was part of the series. And I didn’t realize that you don’t necessarily have to read them in order so I’ll probably read that one next. It’s The Orphan's Wish by Melanie Dickerson

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments I just saw that one on NetGalley recently and have requested it, but I haven't heard back yet.

So they each stand alone within the series? That's fantastic to know! Thank you!

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Kellyn, well done on your bird book! How close are you on the fence and mountain/hill books?

Megan and Kimberly: Do you know which book you'll be reading for lighthouse (1)?

Here's what we have left to this point:

(view spoiler)

Happy reading, Team! Keep up the fantastic work.

Please be ready for quick reading next week, because it's only a matter of time before the categories get called daily (which will happen as soon as a winning category has been called).

message 255: by Kellyn (new)

Kellyn Roth (kellynrothauthor) | 195 comments I believe Fence was my Sage of Pappy Gunn, and since it's due at the library shortly, I'd better be finishing it today or tomorrow! ;P As for mountain, it is ... long. xD I'm about 20% through.

message 256: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Sounds great, Kell. Thanks for the update, and happy reading!

message 257: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (ksnapier) | 705 comments I am still looking. I will post The Truth (Discworld, #25; Industrial Revolution, #2) by Terry Pratchett tomorrow and will let you know about lighthouse then.

message 258: by Megan, ☘I Lost My Shoe ☘ (new)

Megan (celtic_girl) | 6323 comments Mod
I finished The Crossover (Crossover #1) by Heather Horst today, so I'll use that for Lighthouse. :)

message 259: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Thanks for the updates, Kimberly and Megan. Well done to both of you!

message 260: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany Murphy (tiffers919) | 989 comments I’ve decided to find books for some of the other bingo squares. I’m currently working on a #1, 3, and 4 in a series.

message 261: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Great idea, Tiffany! That should make it easier/quicker to finish books once categories are called. That's a fabulous idea especially since we're close to getting winning cats called.

That’s what I was thinking. I have now found a second in series so I’ll be searching for other options tomorrow. I think we have a good shot at winning!

message 263: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments I agree. We have a great shot at winning. :)

I've also gone through and have found some titles that will work. I'll get started on them as soon as I get my lighthouse book finished and am off my editing deadline. Busy workday today, for me.

message 264: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (ksnapier) | 705 comments I just figured out one of the books I am currently reading The Crimson Cord Rahab's Story (Daughters of the Promised Land, #1) by Jill Eileen Smith works for lighthouse because it is the first book in the Daughters of the Promised Land Series. Should have it finished soon

message 265: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Sweet! I love it when that happens, Kimberly. Thanks for getting your bird book posted. That ought to give us another chip on the next update. Happy reading!

message 266: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments I'm going to be working on these books, saving at least one hundred pages until the appropriate categories are called.

Standalone - In Order to Live A North Korean Girl's Journey to Freedom by Yeonmi Park
One - No Other Will Do (Ladies of Harper’s Station, #1) by Karen Witemeyer
Two - A Memory Between Us (Wings of Glory, #2) by Sarah Sundin
Three - Peace in the Valley (Double S Ranch, #3) by Ruth Logan Herne
Four - Classified Christmas Mission (Wrangler's Corner #4) by Lynette Eason

Anyone else planning ahead? Tiffany, thank you for the idea!

message 267: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany Murphy (tiffers919) | 989 comments Here are the ones I’m planning:
Standalone: The Lacemaker by Laura Frantz
One - More Than Meets the Eye (Patchwork Family #1) by Karen Witemeyer
Two - Precisely at Midnight (Kinsman #2) by Joyce Swann
Three - A City Not Forsaken (Cheney Duvall, M.D.) by Lynn Morris
Four - The Captive Maiden by Melanie Dickerson
Though, plans may change, lol.

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Looks like a great bunch of books. Enjoy!

Tiffany Murphy (tiffers919) | 989 comments Andrea wrote: "Looks like a great bunch of books. Enjoy!"

Thank you! I’ve started a couple of them and am enjoying them so much! It’s going to be difficult to save 105 pages (so I have a little more than 100 left lol) until they’re called. I will have to distract myself with other books.

message 270: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany Murphy (tiffers919) | 989 comments Incidentally, I’ve been approved to review A Dog's Way Home by W. Bruce Cameron . I just wonder if it’s going to be as New Agey as A Dog’s Purpose was.

message 271: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments I know what you mean about holding pages! That will be quite a challenge.

Update: I'm halfway through my lighthouse book.

message 272: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments I just posted my lighthouse review.

Here's what we need:

FENCE
Kellyn

MOUNTAIN/HILL
Kellyn
(This one's urgent, as it will place us within one chip of winning.)

LIGHTHOUSE
Kimberly
Kellyn
Tiffany

We're getting so close to being completely caught up. Let's do this, ladies! Y'all, we're doing so well. Let's keep it up!

message 273: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany Murphy (tiffers919) | 989 comments I should finish my lighthouse book today.

message 274: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Awesome, Tiffany. Well done!

message 275: by Bess (new)

Bess | 2584 comments Wow, Tiffany! Way to go!

message 276: by Kellyn (new)

Kellyn Roth (kellynrothauthor) | 195 comments I'm almost done with River Rising, which I believe is my mountain book? I'm at 96%. (It got exciting and I stayed up until two. *coughs* Yes, I'm exhausted, but ... but ...?)

message 277: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Totally been there, Kell. Great job!

message 278: by Kellyn (new)

Kellyn Roth (kellynrothauthor) | 195 comments Okay, I've got my mountain book posted! *goes to find a list of what's next* ;)

message 279: by Kellyn (last edited May 08, 2018 03:09PM) (new)

Kellyn Roth (kellynrothauthor) | 195 comments Only two books until I'm caught up (until tomorrow night, that is).

The Saga of Pappy Gunn (starts with T, fence)
The Penderwicks: A Summer Tale of Four Sisters, Two Rabbits, and a Very Interesting Boy (Book #1, lighthouse)

I'm almost finished with Pappy Gunn (just a couple chapters left) and I read halfway through The Penderwicks over the weekend, so I'll be done with The Penderwicks tonight (want to finish the sweetness <3) and then Pappy Gunn. Whoosh!

message 280: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Wonderful job, Kell! That book had so many pages! However did you finish it so quickly?! :)

Thanks for the update and happy reading!

message 281: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments We don't know which category will get called tonight, but we do know this:

We are one away from winning. That one is dog/cat/1.

My plan for today is to get a great start on a series #1 book so that, if our category gets called, it won't take me long to finish the book on Wednesday or Thursday.

What do y'all think of this plan?

message 282: by Kellyn (new)

Kellyn Roth (kellynrothauthor) | 195 comments Andrea wrote: "Wonderful job, Kell! That book had so many pages! However did you finish it so quickly?! :)

Staying up until 2 helped. xP And I basically just never put it down these last couple days. *wipes brow*

message 283: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments You've done well, Kellyn. So proud of you!

message 284: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Woot woot! We're getting some chips tonight, gals. Well done!

Here's the updated list of what we have left to this point:

LIGHTHOUSE
Kimberly
Kellyn
Tiffany

Can y'all believe it?! We're nearly caught up completely! So proud of us, Team!

message 285: by Kellyn (new)

Kellyn Roth (kellynrothauthor) | 195 comments Yay, that's awesome! Gonna try to finish The Penderwicks before I go to work today. :)

message 286: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Sweet! Sounds like a fabulous plan, friend.

message 287: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany Murphy (tiffers919) | 989 comments I finished my lighthouse book last night and just need to write my review.

message 288: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Wonderful work, Tiffany!

We get the new category in about twenty minutes, gals. I'm so excited!

message 289: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments The Tenth category is...

24. Heart (Standalone)

Options for completing this category:
1: read a book with a Heart on the cover or in the title.
2: read a book that is NOT part of a series.
3: read a book that starts with the letter S (for Standalone)

Be sure to check into your team's chat thread before the next category gets called and let them know your reading plans. If it has been two weeks since you last checked into the team's thread (and it isn't a planned absence), you will be removed from the team. Have fun guys!

Next category will be called: May 17th at approximately 12:01 AM (ET)

----

With this call:

Team one is within one (needs River/Lake/Ocean)
Team two is within one two different ways (needs either flower or hat called)
Team three is within one (needs dog/cat called)

So, basically, this is not a winning category and the next one will be called next week. :)

message 290: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments I'll be reading In Order to Live A North Korean Girl's Journey to Freedom by Yeonmi Park , which is a standalone book.

Happy reading this week, Team!

message 291: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Or I might read The Mark of the King by Jocelyn Green , also a standalone.

message 292: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany Murphy (tiffers919) | 989 comments I’m in the process of reading The Lacemaker by Laura Frantz and Those Who Hope by Tim Stafford , both of which are standalone books. So I guess it will depend on which one I finish first lol.

Bess | 2584 comments Andrea wrote: "Or I might read The Mark of the King by Jocelyn Green, also a standalone."

Oooooh, I want to read that one too!!

message 294: by Andrea (new)

Tiffany, I like your thinking on that! Happy reading!

Yes!!!

message 296: by Kellyn (new)

Kellyn Roth (kellynrothauthor) | 195 comments I just have a couple pages left in my Lighthouse book ... or around there, anyway. For standalone, I have several ARCs that would work splendidly, so I'll just pick one. ;)

message 297: by Kellyn (new)

Kellyn Roth (kellynrothauthor) | 195 comments It was just a couple pages, so I read them really quick. :P

message 298: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Fantastic, Kell! You're caught up again. :)
