Sarah While reading A Thousand Splendid Suns, I frequently thought to myself about the overall oppression as a theme in the book. The way Mariam and Leila were treated by Rasheed was downright despicable and sickens me. The way Hosseini wrote each perspective was honestly haunting. The description of each piece and how it tied into the main idea was beautifully done. However one thing in the book leaves me truly sad, the ending. If you know what happens please reply so we could have a discussion; for I have a lot to say about the ending, and how almost unresolved it is.

Vafa Hi Sarah , just wondering, why do you find the ending unresolved?

the ending is the worst and the descriptioins of the marital inticimy they have"

Shari Ring Wolf I felt the ending was unresolved because the issue of oppression is ongoing & unresolved. This part of the saga had to end somewhere and this was a good place. Now that I think about it, if I had expected a resolution I would have been very disappointed! There were so many despairing parts amongst the beauty of this story that I think I was happy for a mediocre ending. I have read books where I felt there should have been more resolution & was disappointed in the ending. Perhaps that is how you are feeling?
