'Bawl'--is that supposed to be 'Bowl'?

And is the opportunity available for my whole lifetime, or it is a 'once in a lifetime opportunity'?

R.M. Gauthier | 9 comments The cost is $89/year according to their website! Just for those who were looking for it, it's on the front page of their site at the bottom.

message 9: by S.T. (new)

S.T. Holmes (suetropez) | 4 comments Hey guys, I got some information on the cost for these sites. The range is from $1.00 to $25.00 / month to subscribe and support the Digital Reader.

It is $89.00 / month to join and become a member of Writers Boon. "Writers Boon is a Publishing & Marketing One-Stop Shop for Authors".

As I mentioned in another thread, there are a number of businesses popping up stating their services to help authors and all for a conveniently low price of $$$$. Unfortunately, none of them have a positive track record to show us their successes.

The partnership is between Writers Boon and the Digital Book World. So, yes, it is for Writers Boon members.

Chris, the membership is right on the front page under the About section before the Quiz. Thank you.

Hi Chris, spot on. Bowl! Thank you. When you work so many hours a day, it happens.

As to your concerns, not sure what to say, except I would suggest taking a look at https://www.digitalbookworld.com/.
It is a huge conference where all the publishers, literary agents are going. This year, Amazon is the presenting sponsor.
Writers Boon has been invited because of the work we do for indie authors. We are the only platform that asks editors, marketers, course providers to give discounts to authors and help them produce quality books. We are also the only platform that offers DIY tools and apps well-organized in 180+ topics...And much more...

S.T. You have read it all wrong. It is clearly stated on Writers Boon front page. $89/ YEAR, not per month.

As to your concerns, not sure what to say, except I would suggest taking a look at https://www.digitalbookworld.com/ then comment on the quality of such sites.

Amy Hamilton | 124 comments And if I had $89 spare maybe I’d be interested. To put it into perspective I’m even cutting down on the prescription medication I take to save money. I’m hardly about to join something for more money which although may offer me a discount on things will still involve me spending yet more money on those things. So it’s still a no from me.

message 17: by Chrys (new)

Chrys Cymri | 38 comments Carol, thanks for writing responses. However, anyone who is pitching to writers should get it right first time. Even as our readers will decide not to buy if we have typos in our blurbs, we writers (who don't have a lot of money to throw around) will judge a pitch on its first attempt. This includes giving us full information instead or expecting us to search for it.

So still a no from me.

Chrys, it is up to you.

As for everyone here at Writers Boon, we are just excited to be the media sponsors listed on the page of one of the biggest publishing conference in the world. Amazon will be the presenting sponsor and we want to give to 6 indie authors the opportunity to display their books. I wanted to share this.

Writers Boon is:
--> the only platform that does not charge authors a commission fee;
--> the only one that saves them money at each step ( our partners offer $49 marketing courses and tools for free to Writers Boon members and most professionals on the platform offer between 15% to 50% off);
-->the only one that offers DIY tools in 180+ topics.

As you can see, it has been created keeping in mind the fact that many authors write simply because they love books and they love writing. Many of them do not make that much money. This is where the saving idea came to mind. In return for free promotion on Writers Boon, the selected publishing professionals who choose to join us are asked to help indie authors by offering discounts on their services.

If the $89 per year ( not per month, as someone else erroneously commented here) is too much, then I suggest keeping an eye for other contests where the prize might be a free membership to Writers Boon. This might work better for you.

Happy writing,

Carol

Cecilia | 2 comments Hi everyone, I did "meet" Carol, the founder of Writers Boon, many, many years ago. At least it feels like that....
I've actually read her books and contacted her to ask about Tahiti. One of her books describes her experiences while working there. Plus, I wanted to know more about publishing.

She was very kind. She sent me a long document with information, put me in contact with some people in Moorea, offered to be my beta reader and review my books if I decide to publish. Of course, I was really touched. I mean, not many people do that today...

Later, I found out that she and a group of other people created Writers Boon to help other indie authors. At first, it was a free platform. I was actually surprised because only looking at how complex it was I knew they must have invested a lot of time and money into it. Anyway, I was happy to join. Only a few months back, they started to charge $89 per year for membership which I think it is only fair considering all their expenses and how much we save when using the resources on the website.

I am still at the writing stage - I didn't get the courage to publish yet- but I did save 15% when I enrolled in a writing course using their coupon. Now, I am taking some free marketing course by BookGoSocial. They are a partner of Writers Boon and I read today on a Facebook group, authors are quite happy with them. I found those on Writers Boon Treasure Chest page.

I cannot comment on the competition in this post as I do not have a published book. I cannot participate even if I wanted to. I can also not comment on the marketing tools they offer.

I can only say what I know for sure. Carol is a kind and honest person, she cares about others. Last year, she organized an event and donated indie books to libraries and schools in rural Australia.

I found one comment here a bit malicious. And, if it's not too late - I didn't pay attention when this has been posted- I would like to say I love Writers Boon and thank you Carol for everything you do to encourage indie authors to keep writing.

Cecilia

I'm sorry that you found a remark not encouraging. I like to think we are a non-judgmental group, and if it works for you, then that's a great thing.
We welcome all comments about what works for an indie and realize that like everything else in life, what is successful for some will not work for others. It's nice to have people to guide or lend a hand, especially when they have done something you're unfamiliar with. I love when people bring in sites that have furthered their career and love when there is no pressure on anyone with what they pursue, or chose not to.
Sometimes you need to think out of the box and all the great suggestions on this forum are shared with only good intentions.

Dear Carol,

I stand corrected on the price of the Writer's Boon subscription. It is $89 / year instead of / month as I had written earlier.

Hi Carole, We met before. In fact, you contacted me to collaborate with Writers Boon and we did collaborate in the past. Writers Boon has appeared on the magazine.

S.T. remark was simply unfounded and untrue, as she admitted herself once I pointed out to her. It is a pity to see us authors twisting the truth. We should stay united!

You should also do some research into the Digital Book World conference and Writers Boon before making remarks such as : "here are a number of businesses popping up stating their services to help authors and all for a conveniently low price of $$$$/"
Amazon is the presenting sponsor and Writers Boon is the media sponsor, hence the opportunity we offer to 6 indie authors to present their books at the conference.
Thank you for admitting you were wrong in making such misleading comments.

Thank you Cecilia. If you have a draft of your book and you would like to show it to a literary agent, I would love to put you in touch with a few of them I personally know.

Agreed. The first post in this thread says "free, unique opportunity" yet members soon find out it's not free.

Best to stick to the reputable sites and recommendations from active members.
