It is a pleasure to be here.

I am enjoying the challenge so far, and want to find some inspiring new suggestions and engage with like-minded readers.

Hi Harsh welcome to the group! You seem to like lots of genres that must make your reading fun. I think reading at your own pace and enjoying what you read is more fun. Remember slow and steady wins the race.

Gina | 4 comments Hi everyone!
I'm Gina, 26 and live in New Hampshire, USA. I've always loved reading but ever since having kids and working an hour away, reading has not been a priority until recently. (With the exception of reading bed time books to my girls.) I enjoy reading thrillers, psychology and self-help books but will occasionally pick something else up for spontaneity. I found this group by searching for the term challenge as I want to set a reading goal for the year and have a support system and a way to keep my self accountable. I would like to read a total of 30 books this year and so far have read 4. (I have some work to do!)
Excited to be here!
Thank You

Joshua Glover | 4 comments Hi guys! I am Josh and 16 years old and from England. I have always enjoyed reading but never taken it as a hobby, just a thing on the side. However I am now looking to read all the time. I like fantasy, sci-fi, and historical books (fiction or non-fiction) especially around WW1/2, Medieval or Romans. My reading goal is 10 just to get into the swing of things, although I am expecting to surpass it. Thanks for reading, I hope I will be beneficial to the group :)

Dear April Hello Everyone!
I go by April and I am very new to Goodreads. I just found out about it and I love it! I am from New Hampshire. I have always loved to read, but over the past few years I have become far too busy to do any serious amount of reading. I set my reading goal to 20 books for this year(I know, I know...such a small amount) I may change it later on as in the past I have read far more than 20 books in one year. I found out about this group after I found out about Goodreads; I came across goodreads because I really wanted to give an author some feedback. I love all kinds of books but especially Fiction, Historical fiction, Fantasy, fantasy, and fantasy again.(haha ;p) I do enjoy some romance novels if they are clean. The most recent book I read and loved is called The Queen's Rising by Rebecca Ross. I absolutely love this book and I finished it in one day it was so good!(I should have been doing homework). Being in college and having a very busy life will not allow me to be as active on here as I would like, but I look forward to getting to know you all!~

Hi Josh welcome to the group! You are in great company we are all readers here. 10 books is a great way to start have you read your first book? There are 15 yearly challenges look everything over and see if you want to join anything. I look forward to seeing how you spend your year in books.

message 416: by Tim (new)

Tim | 33 comments Hello everyone, I'm Tim. New to the group though I've been working on the challenge sine the start of the year. My challenge for the year is at least 53 books (to keep up at least one a week idea) and my side goals are 12 Agatha Christie novels and 12 Japanese novel (trying to do one a month, but I may double up on some months so as to not be required to each month).

I tend to have somewhat odd tastes in books, being a fan of classics, horror, fantasy and mysteries... but I read a bit of everything and am always looking for suggestions.

I'm from New Hampshire too. Good to see someone close on this Web-site. I tend to read at Lunch and a little bit before going to bed. I wish that I had more time for reading, but I try to get in a little everyday. Good luck with your goals.

Hi Tim welcome to the group! 53 books is a great goal and a great way to read and not be stressed/ Do you have a favorite book so far this year? I don't think your taste is strange I think you just like variety and that is awesome. There is lots to do here look around and happy reading.

message 423: by Tim (new)

Tim | 33 comments Blagica wrote: "Do you have a favorite book so far this year?"
So far it would either be Kill Creek by Scott Thomas which is one of the creepiest horror novels I've ever read or Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio by Pu Songling which is a short story collection published in the 1700s (though most likely written in the 1600s), all of which are Chinese tales dealing with weird events. Not all are horror, some are actually rather silly slice of life stories just with something very strange happening... though most do contain elements of fantasy or horror.

message 424: by Kendall (new)

Kendall Gardt (kendallgardt) Hi I’m Kendall.
I’m from Cincinnati OH and I like fantasy/fiction/YA usually. Occasionally I’ll read a spiritual boom or science fiction.

My goal for 2018 is 20 books but I know I will surpass that so once I get there I plan to change it to 50. I feel like starting small motivates me more and I feel more accomplished each time I finish a book because it doesn’t feel too far fetched. I just recently found good reads and I started my goal a week ago so I do have to make up for the first half of the year 😂.

I had no idea this community existed so I’m pretty pumped about it. For a long time I felt like I was lame for loving YA and Fantasy books because I didn’t know anyone else that liked them as well but then I started looking for people on YouTube and through here and here we are!

My favourite genre is feel-good and historcal novels. I try to read in many genres But if the book gets too deep and too complicated i usually don’t finish the book. I need books to be an easy escape.

See you around!

Rachel Ziolkowski (specatularreads) | 1 comments Hi all!
My name is Rachel and I live in Wisconsin. I am a University Student so school and work have been my priorities for the last four years, but going into my fifth year I am considering becoming an English teacher after I graduate with my teaching degree so I'm trying to get back into the reading habits I had when I was in high school!
I love all types of fiction by Historical Fiction is my favorite. I also enjoy a good fantasy novel and anything else interesting.
My favorite authors are Fredrick Backman, Neil Gaiman, and Tracy Chevalier.
My goal this year is 10 books because I hope to read all of them over the summer, but I hope to surpass that goal during the whole year!

Dessie Jay (espressoteric) | 2 comments Hi, Everyone!

I’m Dessie from Southern California. I’m a special education teacher and graduate student. I’m completing my fourth master’s degree and applying to doctorate programs. You can probably tell that I really enjoy learning new things :-). However, working and going school has caused me to fall behind in my reading. So, I have decided to join a reading group to get me back on track. I love reading all types of books especially classic literature, contemporary fiction, history, science, sci-fi, and fantasy. When I’m not reading, I love to play video games, craft, and exercise. I joined this group because I’m interested in doing buddy reads. Does anyone form Google Hangouts groups and chat while reading the book? I’m looking for a partner or small group to chat with as I read. My goal is read 50 books.
