Hi Blagica and thanks for your reply!
My reading this year has as of yet only consisted of four authors, three of which I had read earlier. I knew I really liked Safran Foer and Camus, so me liking those books didn't surprise me. Svetlana Aleksijevitj really stands out to me, and I advise everyone to read her works. Her books are like a punch in the gut, like a brutal awakening, with the added perk of being true...
Hi everyone, my name is Hannah. I've had various accounts on GRs, but I've finally settled into this one and I'm sticking with it. lol. - I'm from a small town in NJ. I live with my partner and one grey cat, Herb.
- I have a passion for old forgotten books, books in public domain, old historical fiction, books by forgotten women authors. I do occasionally read some chick lit. I really enjoy childrens books, especially of the antique and vintage variety.
- I found this group through a search for 2018 related groups.
- My goal, since I started a little late in the year, is 20 books vs. my usual 40 or 50.
When I'm not reading I like to knit & cross stitch, and I like to manually add old books to the Goodreads catalog, look up covers, etc. I'm nerdy, I guess. I also do jigsaw puzzles and love tea.
Hello everyone 🖐Hi my name is Claire and I live on ythe outskirts of Leicester in the UK . I've read alot of crime books recently but I do read any book that takes my fancy. I found this group while just browsing. My reading challenge is to read 40 books and I've read just over 10 so far, I think. Will have to check.

Look around and let us know if you need anything. Welcome again and happy reading.

Hi Claire welcome to the group! Look at you go you have half your goal done. You said you haven't found a book that you love yet I hope that changes for you. When I can't find a book I love I tend to revisit Stephan Kings page and read a book of his I have yet to get to. He is my favorite author and usually that helps. Please look at all the challenges and join anything you like and of course have fun
Hi everyoneMy name is Jeanette and I live in Denmark, am 36, have 2 kids with my husband and a dog and a cat.
When I'm not with my Family, I spend a big part of my time at an office. As many others I am busy busy busy, but I like it.
I have always loved reading, but have not been prioritizing this interest for a long time. That has changed now and my goal for the year was to read 40 books. I found Goodreads and became a member this january. This has really helped keeping my motivation going. I don't have many bookloving people around me, so it's nice to find you all here! Am happy to meet you all, and am looking forward to be reading with you.

Hello people,My name is Tori and I am an aspiring librarian/archivist (only 1 more year of grad school left, praise). Obviously, books are the name of the game for me.
Last year my goal was to read 50 books, but I read 71. So this year my goal is to read 70 books, and then maybe I'll accidentally end up reading 90+? That's how this works, right? According to Goodreads I'm two books behind schedule right now though at 18 completed. Yikes. To Summer: onward!
In addition to my reading challenge goal, I've also made it a goal to begin using Goodreads for more than just keeping track of my reading. I want to *join groups* and maybe actually *write reviews* and *interact with others*. And so - here I am.
My favorite genres include memoir, nonfiction, comics/graphic novels, YA, and historical fiction.
My favorite book that I've read so far this year is Glennon Doyle Melton's Love Warrior.
Hi I am from Vancouver, Canada. Like all of you, I love reading. I tend to start a series and not let go until the end. I read mostly everything but prefer historical fiction, fantasy or a good thriller. My goal for the year in 50 books and Goodreads tells me I am on track. :)

I completely agree with you about getting lost in a series but whatever makes the reading fun right? I hope you will find a book and a series to love here with us. Happy reading.

Hi everyone! I´m Victoria, from Argentina. I like to read all kinds of genres (from non-fiction to comedy to high fantasy to horror). I was looking for new groups when i found this one, and i said to myself "why not?". If i had to name some authors i love, they would be Neil Gaiman, Patrick Rothfuss, Patrick Ness, and Gabriel García Márquez, among others.
I know I have done this before but can't seem to get it to work! There are two books I started reading but can't get into them. I marked them for my "Didn't Finish" shelf but they are still on my page! Can someone tell me how to do this please? Thanks.

If you choose read, the books will count towards your reading challenge, if you choose want-to-read they will not. Alternatively you can remove the books from you shelves altogether by selecting the currently-reading shelf in the My Books tab, and clicking on the x besides the book. Does this help?
Welcome to the group, everyone! Have a look around and join the fun group activities :) Happy Reading!

Hey everyone, I am from Germany, and this year I started my first "active" part on goodreads. Before I mostly used it for personal organisation and inspiration, but I would love to discuss books, and get to know all you book-lovers. I have to admit, I have not that much time to read, with a job and a more-or-less fulltime hobby (singer in a rockband)... but I read in every free minute I have, and it is the one thing that brings me to totally relax.
I really enjoy thrillers, classics, young adults stuff, fantasy, sometimes a bit romance, history and mostly all other genres too, depends on the mood I am in ;)
So I am happy to be here, and to get to know you all!
Happy reading anf greetings from Germany :)
Helloooo friends! My name is Simona, I’m from the United States, and I just recently got into reading about a year and a half ago. I was in Barnes and Noble one day and I found a book called “The Assassin Game” by Kirsty McKay and I instantly fell in love. It wasn’t my favorite, but it drew me into wanting to read more. Then I went back to good ‘ol Barnes and Noble and got some more books.
After a while my friend and I started talking about our favorite books and traded some. She then introduced me to Good reads a few months ago and now here I am. I’m still fairly new to this so bear with me. Now that I am reading more I am hoping to at least get to about 50 books for this year. It’s not a lot compared to most of the other people on here... but I wanna give it a shot.
My favorite genres currently are fantasy, young adult, dystopian, and poetry. So feel free to recommend any of your favorites involving those genres :) See ya!!
Hi everyone, I am Budhi from Jakarta, Indonesia. Im so glad that I found this group while browsing the next books to read.
Thank you for your kind welcome.
I read fiction most of the time, mystery, thriller, and many more.
Currently I am reading The Chalk Man by C.J. Tudor.
I'm targeting toread 30 books this year and have read 8 so far.
Well, thats a brief intro about me and I hope I can make friends here with the same reading interests.
Thank you and have a good day :)

Hi Simona welcome to the group and to goodreads. I think it is fantastic that one book can get us back into reading and pick up the hobby again. I wish you the best of luck with your goal I am sure 50 is a breeze when reading with friends. Please look around and join what seems fun.

Hi, I am Prachi from Delhi, India. I am new to good reads. I am relatively new to reading books as well. I really want to learn and grow. I recently read 'Outliers', it was an amazing read. I want to read more on politics, history, self help groups, and philosophy. I look forward to great suggestions.
Hi! I’m Heather and I’m from Indiana. I’ve had a good reads account for awhile but never got the app or used the site much until this past week. My goal for this year is to read 30 books within the year but I can’t figure out how to add books I’ve already read into my challenge thingy. 🤦🏽♀️ anybody have any tips for this?

If you want to add books to your challenge thingy, then go to the book you want to add and add your date finished. GR should add the book to your challenge thingy as long as the year finished is "2018" I am not sure if the "Date Started" matters too much. My challenge is 35 books! Good luck with yours!!

Hello there! I have been on Goodreads for a couple of months but haven't really explored the social aspect of it, so I would love to branch out and meet some fellow readers!I currently live in the Pacific Northwest and love it. I like to read a lot of things, mostly speculative fiction, but I find that a lot of things surprise me and I love them so I try not to judge beforehand. This group came up on the 'groups' page and I'm enjoying the reading challenge so I decided to drop in! And finally, my reading goal is 120 books. I've been surprising myself by reading about ten books a month, so I raised my goal to compensate and make it a little more of a challenge.
Nice to meet you all! Happy reading =)
I am Kathy, and I just got married and moved to Texas. I've taught English and drama. With all the changes, I am not pushing myself to much with my reading challenges, but I always have a read in progress.

Hi Kathleen welcome to the group! Also welcome to goodreads. This is actually the first group I joined and there is so much to do that it feels like home. I think it is great that you keep an open mind with books it will make picking books for your challenges more fun. Welcome and happy reading.

We are an easy group here read as many books as you like as long as you are having fun that's what matters.
Hi everyone! My name is Kayla and I'm from Ohio (US). I've been an avid reader since I was little but I only rekindled my passion this year. I recreated a GR's account but I used to have one a few years ago. I found this group through a mutal friend and thought it would aid me in my challenge (which is 50 books but I might increase it). I usually read YA contemporary but I do love a good fantasy, non-fiction, sci-fi/dystopian and thriller!
Hey, Been on Goodreads for a number of years but have only been regularly recently.
I'm from the UK (Wales) and this is the first time taking part in the challenge. Set my target it to 20 books but will up it if I'm going to hit it too soon.
Always looking for something new to pick up as at the moment it is anything that catches my eye.
Hello everyone! I’m Archana, from India, presently in Germany. I’m a casual reader, if there’s such a term. I used to read around 3-4 or less books per year. I would like to enjoy more books (8) this year, hopefully! :)
I don’t have a specific genre of interest. I have read a few books falling into these categories and I have enjoyed all of them: fiction, science fiction, romance, philosophical fiction, Indian mythology.
Would like to try and dwell more into self-help books, science fiction, and other books that come along my way.
I’m currently reading, ‘Housekeeping’, a novel by Marilynne Robinson and ‘The 7 Habits of highly effective people’ by Stephen Covey.
I found this group when I was randomly going through goodreads and got interested. So it was kind of spur of the moment action which I hope to keep up.
So, hello again everyone and it’s nice to meet you all.
Have a good reading time! ^_^
Hi Everyone! I'm Jaime, I live in Michigan (Ypsi/Ann Arbor area). I started my own book club to motivate myself to read more, but not all of the members are on Goodreads, which I love. So, I thought I'd join this group, which seems to fit my needs/interests. I'm currently reading several books including some by Alexander McCall Smith (isn't he so fun?), Carl Hiassen, etc. For the book club I am in, we're finishing up The Martian and will be reading Noir by Christopher Moore (love his stuff!) next month. Middlesex is in June for us, so it fits nicely into both worlds for me. Can't wait to catch up with what you've already read and continue on with this challenge. My goal is to read 100 books for the year. :)

I'm Johan, a 34 year old teacher from Sweden, dreaming of becoming a writer some day.
I have been a member of GoodReads for some time, but haven't used it until now. This year, when I started using GoodReads, I decided to only catalogue the books I read from now on, so my library looks kinda empty. Time to get reading, right?
Could use some likeminded friends on here, so if anyone wants, add me as a friend!
I like reading all kinds of literature, but I often read classics, literary fiction and history. My favorite authors include Paul Auster, Franz Kafka, Haruki Murakami and Salman Rushdie, but I also have a soft spot for anything french or France.
Hope to befriend and speak to you all here soon!
