Introduce Yourself to the Group - 2018!
Hey :) I've been a member on here for ages, but not really one for posting anything or getting involved in discussions ... it cuts into my reading time too much! :p
I absolutely love reading and will read almost anything. I love crime fiction, thrillers, contemporary fiction, dystopian fiction, fantasy fiction, autobiographies/biographies (very much depends who they are about), domestic noir, classics.
I discovered the Popsugar reading challenges last year and have really enjoyed doing them - I'm getting round to reading things that I probably wouldn't have for ages, reading more nonfiction, discovering new genres and authors. I've also been pleasantly surprised many times - I read "the martian" this year for one prompt. I'm not interested in science fiction and had no interest in reading this book but ending up absolutely loving it, I really enjoyed it from start to finish.
However, I completed the 2018 Popsugar reading challenge in August but still can't figure out how to post my list. Can anyone help me? :)
Hey everyone! I'm Jihane, a 21yo girl from Morocco ! For me nothing's more enjoyable than a cold day, a warm blanket and a good book! (Some hot mint tea is a must) That's pretty much it! Have a good day y'all and enjoy whatever you're reading right now 🙌🏻

Thank you, that's a great help. I've uploaded my completed reading challenge now :) I only discovered these last year so I'm now having a go at the 2015 list. It's so much fun! :D
Hi everyone, my name is Fizza, I am a 3rd year university student. I love reading, it’s my happy place. I am from Canada. I love making friends so feel free to add me as a friend. I have never used groups on goodreads before so if I do something wrong please don’t hate me. I saw someone’s post about this challenge of A to Z reading challenge and found it really interesting so decided to join in even if 2018 is almost ending but why not, it’s never too late.
Hi there! I'm Tay. I'm from Atlanta, GA. I've been on this site for years keeping track of my reading list, but I only recently became more active.I loved reading as a kid and casually read a book or two a year throughout high school to my mid-twenties. I gradually started diving back into reading thanks to my younger brother (he read PJO for a school project and convinced me to read them after we watched the movie), Tumblr (during my brief stint on the website, I accidentally came across a HG post and was immediately hooked), and HP (I read the first two before the movies came out and found them similar enough to justify not reading the rest. When the final movies came out, I had a few questions. I found my answers and LOADS of background information I never knew I needed but can't live without now).
I attempted bookstagram for a short time last year but didn't feel I was reading enough or keeping up with the latest to sustain a genuine connection. Though I'm still not keeping up with the trends (no remorse, I'm always late to the party), I've been able to read more since starting my new job this summer. Finally accepting audio books into my life and listening on my long commute to work has really helped me burn through books. (...though not all audio books are created equal. Why are there so many monotone voice actors????)
Primarily I read sci-fi or fantasy with contemporary weaving in and out depending on my mood. Sometimes thriller, memoir, historical fiction, romance, and mystery find their way in my stacks. Majority of everything I read ends up being some type of YA fiction. Most are a series of sorts. Stand-alones are rare reads for me but some have ranked in my favorites (SO: RPO & The DUFF).
My 2018 reading goal started at 20 books (prior to new job). I recently bumped it up to 30, but I may need to push to 35-40 since I'm already at 25 books (13 were consumed after new job started in mid-July). :)

Hi, Terry! I'm with you on Georgette Heyer! I haven't read one in years, but seeing your comment brought back tons of memories. Now I have to find mine and get one on my "read soon" list! Two of my favorites were Cotillion and The Quiet Gentleman.
Welcome to the group!!
Hi! My name is Lezlie, and I'm from Minnesota, USA. I'm 53 years old and have been a voracious reader my entire life. However, for some reason I have been in a reading drought the last few years. I went from nearly 100 books per year to barely a dozen. A friend recently posted an article on Facebook that said we could read 200 books per year during the time we currently spend on social media. I don't know about 200 for me personally, but that statement lit a fire in my heart I haven't felt in a long time. That same friend and I made a pact to read at least 20 books by the end of this year.I was involved in the book blogging community a while back, and one of the things I really loved about it was all the reading challenges. I am looking forward to getting involved in them again, as they opened so many doors for me. I found books I loved that I otherwise would never have read. I'm using the rest of 2018 to get my reading mojo back, but my brain is already fast-forwarded to making challenge plans for 2019. I'm glad I'll be spending it with all of you!
Happy reading to everyone!
Hey everyone - I'm Penny and I live in Anchorage, Alaska. I grew up in a small town in PA and I've lived in lots of different places over the years. I've always loved to read and one of my goals this year is to make more time to do it. I'm a single dog mom, so my time is not always my own.I tend to read fiction more than non-fiction, but I'm pretty much up for any story as long as it's told well. I'm late to the party, so my goal may be a bit high, but I like a good challenge and audio books come in pretty handy. I look forward to seeing what everyone is reading and picking up some great recommendations!
Hi everyone. I’m Shelby. I’m from the UK. The books I generally read are historical fiction, horror, fantasy, young adult and nonfiction. I found this group just by looking for a reading challenge to join. Also I have never interacted on groups such as this and thought I’d give it a try. My reading goal is 10 books. Hopefully more if I have the time!!
I look forward to meeting other readers!! ♥

The mod team is already starting to plan for 2019 so there is lots to come. I think you will get your 20 books by the end of the year and if you need encouragement just call me the group motivator I am here.

I find the basic for every hour of tv I watch I read for 20 to 30 minutes and I completely agree audiobooks are so handy. Hi Shelby welcome to the group. It looks like you have a nice variety of books that you like to read. Do you have an author in each genre that are your go to. I think you will find that this group has lots of fun.

Reached 50 in the number read last year(which was made up by S.King books mostly) and this year I'm guessing i'll reach the heights of maybe 70. Currently reading mysteries along with a few classics or historical novels. Hoping to get some reading suggestions from this group and maybe it works the other way around as well(for whoevrr enjoys the same genre) =]
Hi!! I am Sophie from England , i absolutely love reading, it is definitely my passion! My reading challenge is only 20 books as unfortunately work and studying tends to take over my life! I love thrillers mainly and chick lit (mainly read them in the summer if we actually get some sun!) but will read pretty much any genre. I happened on this group by accident but looks like my kind of group!

I think 20 books is a great goal as long as you are enjoying what you are reading. I can suggest a few thrillers if that is what you are looking for but I think finding a challenge to jump into that is your style might work too. Welcome again and happy reading.

Hi, I’m Mandy, 28, from Scotland. I love reading in my spare time, which as a working single parent, there’s not a whole lot of, but I still like to get through at least 1-2 books a week. I used to read mostly chick lit but in the past two years or so, I have started reading grittier thrillers, mysteries and suspense novels. Some of my favourite authors are Harlan Coben, Lisa Jewell and Jodi Picoult.
I joined goodreads as I like to talk about books, And for inspiration and recommendations.
My current reading challenge is pretty low because I have only just joined and wanted to be realistic about what I could achieve in the year.
Anyway, that’s about it, happy reading guys!

Lovely to meet you Marloes :) looking forward to swapping ideas on books to read :)
Hello, everyone! My name is Neath, and I’m from Cambodia. I didn’t grow up reading books, so I haven’t read that many. I want to change that this year, though, which is why i am here. I don’t know what kind of genre i like, for starters, so I don’t really have anything to contribute. I’m hoping that I will be able to discover my likes and dislikes, and read more books from now on. I was just looking through the group section this morning, and I found this group, which I think would be really helpful for me to reach my goal. I’m also looking for online friends because I don’t have that many in real life haha. I hope i’ll push myself and actually achieve something this year :)
Hi Everyone, my name is Shatina and I live here in Florida. I decided to join a Goodreads group to kinda "get out there and meet new people". I had joined another group maybe two years ago or so but then left it as I felt that I was not the avid reader the members of the group were. Just like members' post from Blagica, I wanted to join a reading group to be that avid reader but it seems that this group is simply all about having fun and sharing books to one another and even partner up with other members to read and discuss a book in a smaller setting.
A little about me: I just graduated this past Spring 2018 with my Bachelors in Business Administration Management. I'm single and live on my own. I have one pet - a cat - and his name is Mudd. I didn't name him. Some old friends did and I took him with me at the end of our roommate arrangement. I don't know what I want to do now that I'm out of school. I'm certainly not in a rush to head back so just for now I'm working on enjoying my time out of school textbooks while trying to enter into the social lifestyle.
Books that I am interested in are paranormal, mystery, thrillers, romance, and personal development. Main genres are paranormal and personal development.
I look forward to chatting with you guys and am up for partnering with others in reading a book and discussing it. Just let me know.
~ Shatina
Hi everyone!!! My name is Kiley and I’m from California near the Los Angeles area. I’ve been an avid reader for as long as I can remember and I’ve always loved reading romance and fantasy primarily although I also enjoy some other genres like historical fiction and mystery. I’m open to reading pretty much everything, but I’m a romance lover at heart and it’ll probably always be my favorite thing to read. I love joining groups here on goodreads because they always inspire me and motivate me to continue reading. I stumbled across this particular one when I was looking at my friends reading list oddly enough hehe. Since I’m joining with my reading goal so late in the year, my goal is to read ten books before 2018 ends. I’m looking forward to talk with all of you amazing people ❤️

Hi,I’m Janelle from Victoria, Australia. I’ve always loved reading but in recent years found it to be more of a luxury thing that I would do on holidays.
I’m setting myself a challenge to read 5 books between now and my holidays which start on 21st December,2018.
I have just started reading Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng.
I have my next book borrowed already from library with is Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine.
My “love of reading” memories go back to being taken to the local library by my parents and spending ages there looking at lots of wonderful books.
Happy reading.
Janelle xx
Hello readers! I’m Beth. New to the group. A little about me: I am a medical illustrator, teach at an art college in the Biomed department and obviously love to read. I have a small hobby farm, like to cook and have a couple of horses and a dozen chickens to keep me and my rescue dog extra busy. I live on northeast Ohio in the heart of the snow belt, so those snow days are great for reading by the fire! I’m excited to have a group of reading friends to share thoughts and titles!
Hey, I'm Jordan and I'm pretty new to Goodreads. I have loved reading for as long as I can remember, and I am always looking for more stories. I am always striving to learn more about the past, and I am into historical fiction, realistic fiction, dystopian, and science fiction.
Welcome everyone! So happy to have you join us. There are lots to do here and hopefully make tons of friends. Please look around and join the fun. We look forward to reading with all of you.
Hello everyone I'm Sammie ,i'm 27 and i live in Colorado , i've always enjoyed reading, i tend to read whatever i can get my hands on but some of my favs are Urban Fantasy , Science Fiction ,Romance, & i also love comics :) i have a small library of my own and i have run out of room for all my books but that doesn't stop me from buying more of them :)
This year i was hoping to read a 100 books ,i don't know if i will make it because i hit a bit of a reading slump and didn't really read for almost 6 months this year but you never know :)
Anyway it's great to meet all of you !
Welcome to all of the new members of our Group! We hope you will stay around for all the exciting thing we have planned for 2019!
Hello, I just joined not sure why I didn't know about this group until now but better late than never. My name is Sallie & I live in Southeastern Illinois just across the Indiana border about 15 miles from Vincennes Indiana. Which if you are looking at a map is exactly half way between Terre Haute & Evansville. Im originally from Marietta, Georgia so once a Georgia Girl always a Georgia Girl. I love to read. Never without a book going, at work im lucky that I can listen to audio but prefer books at home. I love all genres - except im not a big fan of horror. This year I am attempting to read 140 books im up to 126 that may be a little difficult because the Holidays are fast approaching & I don't get much reading time between Thanksgiving & New Years but im giving it a valiant effort.
