ABANDONED. I read this funny book back in 2008. It is about mysterious next door neighbors.

The book is about a young boy who was curious about his new neighbor - an elderly gentleman who was collecting water contained in glass jars or containers. At the start, he thought that the neighbor was mysteriously weird about collecting different waters from different times in history. There was even a jar water collected from the Delaware River as Washington was crossing it. He eventually befriended this neighbor.
The book is so funny. I think the book is a young adult or teen fiction book. I somehow forgot about the title and author.
