Linda I choose Petticoat Ranch by Mary Connealy for your book. I have it on kindle if you can't get a hold of it some where.
Thanks Janine for the pick i actually just bought it on ebay for 4 bucks. So i am looking forward to receiving and reading it :)

This is a wonderful story about a young Christian woman who is creating her own destiny the best way she can. She is a woman bound to moral and family values, along with showing a great faith to what she believes in and the people she cares about.
A very delightful read showing how life was lived back in 1800 Pennsylvania for a single woman on her own with no family to speak of and no money to her name.
Wow Brenda you do read fast lol. I am glad you enjoyed your book, i have it on my tbr list, and since you gave it 5 stars in know i want to read it now. I didn't get my book in for my Pick It for Me August yet, i bought it off ebay so waiting patently for it lol. But of course i am reading something else in the mean time. Thank You for participating in Pick It For Me. Hope you join us again next month.. Have a blessed day :)
I just finished the first "Pick It For Me August" book "You Are Here" by Liz Fichera. It was an interesting book and well the first book I can recall that I would label as Young Adult. If I realized that this book was a teenage angst and drama book I more in likely wouldn't have downloaded it, but then again if I didn't download it then I would have missed an interesting story.
It was a story about a young lady (16 years old) and her family who is one swift move without warning to the kids, the family lost everything they knew. There was a romance if you want to call it that, that in my opinion distracted from the whole story.
I am a Christian and proud of it, so I hope I don't offend with the next part of my post. I didn't add these thoughts to my review, (www.goodreads.com/review/show/9350912...) because I hate putting this kind of personal opinion in a book review. If there is something I don't like about a book, I will list it but when it is a personal opinion like this, I won't but I know there are so many who would disagree with me, and I am not about to get into a fight on personal beliefs on Goodreads. I think to prevent anyone who might feel differently than I do, I am going to be my personal feelings of what was lacking into a spoiler so that it can be hidden from those not interested in my opinion what I thought was lacking in the book, and yes it has to do with my being a Christian.
(view spoiler)
Overall I did enjoy this short novella that dealt with a touchy subject of homelessness and how it was from the point of view of the teenage daughter instead of the mother. A story told from the mom's point of view would have caused me to go through far too many tissues I am sure (I am just a sap that is all and I always rank lower a story that doesn't make me cry or laugh at least once through the book) as I had gone through plenty with it being the daughters point of view. I gave this book a 4 story rating.

Well when you finish it and want to read the other books in the "Lassoed in Texas" series let me know. I purchased the three books in one for my kindle and I am more than happy to loan them out. And frankly that goes with the "Married in Montana" series and "Sophie's Daughters" series, and yes those three series for a series of nine books are all together. I didn't realize that when I first started reading the "Married in Montana" series so I read those nine books the first time out of order LOL. Mary Connealy and Kare Witemeyer are two of my top five authors and I just love them. LOL

Glad to see some of you have finished reading your picks and enjoyed them. I am almost done with my pick Petticoat Ranch and i am enjoying it also..
Just finished up my pick of the month, thanks Janine it was a good choice i really enjoyed it.
Here is my review:
This was a charming story about a woman who was raising her girls alone out on the ranch, Sophie was a very spirited woman, and a woman who knew how to protect and handle her family. Then along came her brother in law Clay ( the twin brother to her deceased husband who was murdered). Both seeking vengeance for Cliff's death and God letting them know vengeance is His alone. I could almost see this as a tv series it would make a good little show. I must say Sophie and her girls showed them men just how to handle scumbag outlaws. It was a bit funny at some times. All in all it was a good read Thanks Janine for choosing it as my Pick It For Me Challenge For August in my group A to Z Book Challenge.

I am glad you liked it...

Hi Darlene,
I finished Thankful by Shelley Shepard Gray and LOVED it! Thanks for such a good recommendation.
I am going to have to read Thankful soon I guess. I have been putting it off until "Joyful" comes out or at least until it is closer until its release.

I finished The Longest Ride..I gave it 4 stars..I loved the ending of this book! At times I was a bit bored with the Ira and Ruth story, but did enjoy the Luke and Sophia story.

Hello Rita, Yes we will be doing it monthly. I will be posting something over the weekend to get it started, so check in on Saturday. Have a great day :)
LOL So much for waiting until September uh Linda LOL
I will be opening up a September link tonight LOL, Glad to see everyone is eager to join up for this challenge.. Have a blessed day.
Because Wendy choose two novellas for me to read. I read You Are Here and enjoyed it. I also asked for a second book from Wendy and I tried to read it. It is Lancaster Hearts, and frankly I didn't like it. It is apparently one of those books that is put out in sections, and it seemed like to me one needs to read all the prior books to understand what is going, so I was lost and lost interest. I won't write a review for the book or rate it because frankly that is not fair to the author, because it seemed like her writing was okay I am just not going to get the prior books for she didn't completely and totally win me over.

was chosen for me. and i have to say i really enjoyed it. the issue anna is going through is one that we here about alot. shows that god has a plan for us we just need to follow him. definately recommend it. and will be looking for book 2

Glad you at least enjoyed one of them. I had also wanted to read Lancaster Hearts that's why I picked it for you to read. Maybe I will give it a shot one day. so many books, so little time
