The Layover by Roe Horvat 117 pgs/GR
Picked a new book. New selection post in message 269.

I decided to go with a shorter book this week and see if there's an "option two" shorter book that would work for next week. Is the minimum page count for this challenge 100 pages?

I think I know what I'm reading no matter the theme, I have a book for Option 2 that is on ..."
Go us!

I totally forgot about that! 😱 Thanks for the reminder. I will go peruse the other team shelves.

Oh my gosh, this was an emotional read!
After being dumped in the worst way by his longtime lover, Matt is a total mess. Depressed, drunk more often than not, undependable at work, he's in a downward spiral.
And then he meets Aaron, a light in the dark, new hope....
But Aaron has his own secrets....
A sad, but beautifully written love story!

I'm not usually a fan of reunited lovers books but I really liked this one. Reuben and Marcus were in a relationship but managed to stay friends for six years after they broke up until a drunken hook up at a work party (oh, they also work together and Reuben is the boss's son). Now things are awkward as hell and they just do their best to avoid each other at work as much as possible and then Reuben's dad tells him he has to go to a trade show with Marcus - 8 hours in the car together there and back, five days together at the trade show and sharing a hotel room. What could go wrong? Well, it gets better, and it gets worse but they finally talk about all the stuff they've avoided for the last six year and finally get their HEA. I love books when the MCs are forced to be together and this one had it in spades and I loved how things worked out at the end.
If you want a short romance with some humor, smexytimes and realistic relationship angst, I definitely recommend this one!

Woohoo! I'll get that update tonight!
I have about 2.5 hours left of listening in my book so I will easily finish today. I hope to squeeze in another book before Friday and then have some shorts lined up for then. Not sure how that will go since we are out Wednesday evening and then all day Thursday taking our granddaughter to Disneyland for her birthday. And she wants to see the fireworks so it will be a late night... But I'm home on Friday so I will be ready to go at theme call!

Nice! That's your second Disneyland visit since we started playing. You must have an annual pass. I'm envious. I haven't been since the Indiana Jones ride was new. 😩

ETA: I just checked and this will be the 6th time since the challenge started! =0 No, =D

This was quite a change of pace for this series - at least in the beginning! And I admit, I had to go back and listen to the end of the eighth book because I was so upset by one part of the story, that I forgot another part altogether. Charley has lost her memory and ended up across the country and is, of course, in danger. The characters all clicked though, the links were there even if the memories weren't. And then Janey started acting like the Charley we all know and love and everything felt right again. I liked how it all came together in the end, liked how her memories were returned, even though I am sad to see her father gone for good now. Not at all sure how the situation with Reyes is going to resolve - so I guess I will just have to keep reading!
I listened to the audio and enjoyed Lorelei King's narration, like I always do!

I am gone all day tomorrow, but will be home on Friday so I can get any updating done then. And be ready to go with my last book! I have a quick option 2 book ready for every team, so I should be done by Friday evening my time.

Wow! That's impressive. I haven't even been six times in my lifetime (only three and the last time was in the 20th century. 😱).

Yup! I'm way overdue for a visit. I think I'll probably go when my sister goes with her boys.

Review: I really liked this story. The premise is absolutely terrifying to me (I hate elevators), but I loved how the two characters met and got to know each other. I can't wait to start the second book and get to spend some more time with these characters.

I know the feeling :) I like to think of it has a life dream to be able to move closer to Disneyland when I retire so I can go there when ever I want.

Review:
This was a fun quick fluffy read. Thy mystery itself was fairly straight forward with no real twists or surprises but still I enjpoyed it anyway. I not so sure how I feel about MC Alice and some of the decisions she made in the story and I felt that some of the things that happened in the story were a little forced. That being said I am still enjoying the series and will most likely pick up the next book very soon

I'm not sure I'm ready to give up living here in my mountains, though there are times the hassle and work of it make me think about it. But living closer to Disney would help if we make that move!

Ready, set, go - last theme call in a few more hours!

This was super cheesy, insta everything and not something I wuld usually pick up because of Lainey's submissive over exuberant character, but the sex scenes were really hot and the writing was decent. Would be interested in trying this authors more developed stories.

Her Sci-Regency series is a lot of fun and Dreamspinner Press is re-releasing them. The first book, My Fair Captain, will be out at the end of the month. She doesn't have many books available right now because she was published with the now defunct Samhain and the soon to be (if not already) defunct Loose Id.

Review: The story was okay, a little different than what I expected. With the genre tags I was expecting something totally different (This was really a sweet spanking novel. There were no sex scenes at all, just the spanking scenes.) I never really connected with either of the characters and felt the story was lacking in an emotional draw with the two of them.

Perfect book to end this challenge with, being that it mirrored Hansel and Gretel, a fairy tale, and the overall theme for this round was Snow White, another fairy tale. Enjoyable little story, that even though it could be read out of order as it was an in between novella, I'm glad I was able to catch up and be current before reading it. The little boy in the story was especially endearing - smart and gutsy, I liked him a lot. It all worked out in the end, as the stories in the series always do. And I was happy at the end.
I listened to the audio and Susan Ericksen was her usual mistress of narration!
