I read a book years ago that I really liked but can't remember the title or author. It was a historical novel but not really a romance, even though two of the characters fell in love and got married. It's set in the 17 or 1800's. A frontiersman has to escort three women to safety. I can't remember why they're stuck in the middle of nowhere. He doesn't want to help them, but they will most likely die if he doesn't. So he agrees. There were two white women and 1 black woman. The white women came from different social classes. One was rich, the daughter of a plantation owner and the black woman was her slave. The other white woman wasn't from a rich family and was more "homespun". They all had to travel a great distance through mountains and forests. They did finally make it. The book was called something like "The Frontiersman" but I don't think that was actually it because I did a Google search and couldn't find it. Thanks for any help you can give me!
