It is so fucking hot, my legs are literally creating their own rivers of sweat.
I want to be an actress. Always have, always will. I know what everyone thinks when I tell them I want to be an actress. "Well, there's another one, thinking she can get her big break." I know the exact expression on their faces when they hear those words come out of my mouth. The just look at me for a long moment before smiling brightly and saying something like "Wow. That's amazing." Or "I guess we'll see you on the big screen!" But it always sounds a little bit too fake, and their smile is always a little bit too big for it to be believable. To those of you who smile but say something like "You know that's a hard business." Thanks you, but no thanks. I appreciate that you're being honest and I won't get angry at all for saying something like that, but trust me, I know. I know just like every kid out there who wants to be an actor that is a hard business. I know just like every other kid out there that I'm not pretty enough but makeup is amazing. I know that I might not have the talent I need, and that there's a 99.9999% chance that I will never have a big break or even be successful. Of course we know this. There is a reason we kids go to bed every night and toss and turn because we know that we might never make it.
But despite all that. Despite sleepless nights and staring at yourself in the mirror and thinking " I will never be good enough " I still want to be an actress. Because I love it, because it makes me happy, because I want to prove to everyone that they were wrong. That I can do it and that they couldn't stop me. Not with their fake smiles, and cheerful words. They couldn't stop me if they tried.
But despite all that. Despite sleepless nights and staring at yourself in the mirror and thinking " I will never be good enough " I still want to be an actress. Because I love it, because it makes me happy, because I want to prove to everyone that they were wrong. That I can do it and that they couldn't stop me. I didn't realize that dreams aren't for girls like me.
I was a Girl,
Who forgot her dream,
Who could eat an apple without wondering
If one day
My dream would come true.
It was nice there,
When I forgot
Because I didn't feel lost in a tornado of expectations I could never achieve.
But I learned to stop dreaming dreams that couldn't come true,
Because dreams don't come true for girls like me.
I am a woman now,
With her head filled with dreams again,
But these dreams are as horrid as nightmares,
Because I know that a nightmare and a dream are the same,
If only from different perspectives.
And the people inside of me fight day and night,
Fighting to choose whether my dream would be worth the nightmare.
But I have not forgotten that dreams are not made for girls like me.
Dreams are for blonde beauties with long lashes and smoky eyes.
Dreams are for kids who weigh 20 pounds less than they should,
And aren't cursed the hooked noses and crooked teeth.
Dreams are for the lucky ones who were born with it all,
The only challenge was to cash in a check they were conceived with.
But I am still a little girl

And know that my dream will become my nightmare too.
