Kendra and Fangs

[Kendra]

Boo bit her lip as she watched Olivia run off. Every one of them knew she fretted far too much, but she just couldn't help herself. It was in her programming. "Oli, don't forget to stay away from the edge of the ship!" She called after her. The only thing keeping her in place was London's hand, which she was being careful not to crush as her worry grew.

London looked over at Boo and smiled.
"She'll be okay." He said softly. He smiled as he realized something. "She's been talking more often." He mused. "It's...nice to hear her voice."

[Kendra]

Boo nodded and smiled slightly. "She talks more when you're around." She looked up at him and raised an eyebrow at him. "You're not making another construct, are you?" She paused at the stairs, letting Olivia search on her own while she spoke to London. "Why have you been holed up in your research? You haven't even been letting me help this time, just like with Olivia..." Sometimes she worried he was trying to fade her out and her age wasn't helping that any.

He turned to look at her, and took her other hand in his. He had managed to find away, it was about time he told her. He smiled and shook his head.
"I'm not making another construct." He assured her. "I didn't want to get your hopes up, if it turned out there wasn't a way." He took in a deep breath. "Boo, I found a way to make sure you last. "So you wont ever have to be taken offline."

[Kendra]

Boo looked up at him, frowning at the pause. She relaxed slightly when he said there wasn't going to be another construct, but her jaw dropped when he said there was a way to make her stay online. "Wait.... Are... You have to be kidding..." She gasped, then hugged him, grinning. "That's amazing, London!"

He smiled and happily hugged her back.
"I'm sorry for keeping it from you." He said softly. "And I'm sorry it kept me away from you guys."

[Kendra]

Boo grinned at him. "As long as you spend the rest of the trip with us, it more than makes up for it." She smiled at him and cupped his cheek in her hand. "You're amazing, London."

London smiled at her, stroking her hair softly.
"You are way more amazing then I am." He said. He leaned in slowly, but was suddenly interrupted by Olivia from up the stairs.
"Addy!" She squealed as she found her.

[Kendra]

Boo blushed. "Only because you programmed me to be." Her processors nearly stopped when he leaned towards her, only to come to a jerking start again when Olivia squealed. She smiled sheepishly at London. "Another time?" She laughed softly, then turned towards the sound.

Addy laughed when Olivia found her. "Alright, you got me. But wasn't London supposed to be finding me?" She laughed again and stepped out, looking down the stairs to where she heard Boo talking.

"I was helping." Olivia said happily.
London smiled softly, and kissed Boo's cheek before going up the stairs. "I found her!" Olivia said running over to him.
"I see that." London said smiling and laughing as he knelt down in front of her. He ruffled her hair. "You are an awesome helper." Olivia smiled proudly.

[Kendra]

Boo smiled and walked up the stairs after London. She looked over at Addy and nodded slightly, making the second construct grin. Addy looked down at London, looking even more excited than when he had announced he was going on the trip. "No more locking yourself in your room??"

London stood up straight, taking Olivia's hand. Who smiled wide leaning into him a bit. He looked over at Addy and smiled.
"Nope." He said shaking his head. "I'm all done with that." Olivia was suddenly grinning when he said that, showing all of her teeth, she hugged his legs overjoyed.

[Kendra]

Addy grinned and pumped the air with her fist when he said that. "Yes!" She launched herself at Boo and hugged her tightly, laughing. "You're like a miracle worker or something!"

Boo laughed sheepishly and shrugged slightly, hugging Addy back. "No, he just finished his work, that's all." She didn't want to tell him about what he had finished, wanting to make sure she could be a guinea pig to see if it was safe first.

"Well that, and I realized how much I had been missing." He said smiling at them and then looking down at Olivia. Who was still hugging him tightly. He smiled and chuckled softly, and picked her up in his arms. "And I don't want to miss anymore."

[Kendra]

Boo smiled at him as Addy detangled herself and smiled over at him, crossing her arms. "Good. Hopefully you won't retreat again." Boo shot her a look before she looked over at the other pair, a small smile crossing her features at the picture they created. "We are glad you're back to us, sir."

Olivia looked at him, a wide happy smile on her face.
"I love you, Father." She said suddenly. London's eyes widened for a second as he heard that. He a soft smiled creeped across his face. He felt a tear come to his eye as he hugged her tightly, happily.
"I love you too, Olivia." He whispered happily. She giggled softly hugging him back.

[Kendra]

Boo froze when she heard what Olivia said and she instantly locked eyes with Addy. Technically, constructs couldn't love, the technology simply wasn't there. At least, not yet. So the little girl saying something, associating the word with her creator, was something that shouldn't have happened, not really. They looked back at the pair again and gave them almost identical worried looks.

London set her down after a second, and knelt down next to her.
"Olivia, why don't you go and play with Teddy." He said softly. She smiled and nodded, as she ran back to the room. He stood up after she had left, and turned to look at Boo and Addie. "Why...why did she say that?" He asked, his face a mask of worry now.

[Kendra]

Boo and Addy shared another look, then shook their heads. "We don't know." Boo bit her lip and looked down. "Sir, this is strange. You should look into her programming and see where the bug is."

He pressed his lips together and ran a hand through his hair. He started pacing nervously for a few moments. He stopped and looked at Boo.
"Okay." he said quietly. "Go and....go and get her ready. "Please."

[Kendra]

Addy froze and narrowed her eyes at him. She knew how it felt to have someone dig around in her brain, to be shut off to find a bug, and it was horrific. She looked at Boo, giving her a warning look. Boo hesitated for a moment, then shook her head. "I'm sorry, I can't do that. It wouldn't be fair. Just... Wait until tonight. Wait until she's already powered down to charge. Please."

London nodded his head slowly, running a hand down his face. He didn't want to have to do this. Especially to her. The thought of it almost made his skin crawl, having to go poke and prod around inside of her.
"Yeah." He said sadly. "Okay."

[Kendra]

Boo looked at Addy for a moment. It was clear what she was about to say and Addy was glaring at her, telling her not to say it. "Sir... You could always just... Not fiddle in her mind." She looked over at him seriously. "You could leave her be, as she is. There is nothing wrong with her... She hasn't shown any other signs of having any serious bugs or defects..."

He took in a deep breath as he thought about this. He didn't know if he could even bring himself to do it anyway. Boo's right, he said to himself. He decided the best thing to do right now was to wait and watch and make sure.
"For now..." He said his voice breaking slightly. "We keep an eye on her."

[Kendra]

Boo took a deep breath as Addy glared at the pair of them. "You know how these things have ended in the past," the younger construct hissed at them, "The constructs always end up killing people. I won't have anyone's blood on my hands, understand?" She stared them both down, then turned and left, stalking to another part of the ship entirely.

Boo sighed and rubbed a hand over her face, knowing that, to an extent, Addy was right. "What if we aren't doing the right thing here, sir?"

He shook his head slowly, as he looked down.
"I'm not sure." He said quietly. "I don't want to have to do it. "She is still...so young. "I don't want to have to put her through that." He sighed. "But Addy is right, I have to make sure nothing is wrong."

[Kendra]

Boo looked at him for a moment, then nodded slightly. "Alright. I'll... I'll set it up for you after she goes to sleep..." She looked out over the water, then down at the seams on her hands. "Would you do this if she was your daughter?"

"She is my daughter." He said leaning against the side, staring down into the water. "That's why I have to do this." He couldn't bare the thought of anything happening to her, any of them. And if something was wrong with Olivia, he didn't know what he would do with himself. But he tried to stay positive, telling himself it was nothing, she was just fine.

[Kendra]

Boo walked over to him and put a hand on his shoulder, though she kept far enough back that she wouldn't fall in. "Sir... Maybe... Maybe you should just let her be. She may not be defective at all. You may have programmed the next level of AI in her... If you alter that... She won't be Olivia anymore. And you know it."

London closed his eyes tightly for a second. He turned around and to face Boo, and pulled her into a hug.
"I know." He said softly. "You're right. "There is nothing wrong with her. "She's just the way she should be."

[Kendra]

Boo blinked, then hugged him back and smiled. "Thank you, sir." Eventually, she pulled back and looked overboard. "I wonder what it's like down there..."

He took a second to get push the thoughts of before back for the time being. He looked back over the water.
"I would think it's not that different from up here." He said thoughtfully.

[Kendra]

Boo cocked her head and stared down at the blue waves being broken by the white foam. "When do you think you'll have the prototype of the material ready?"

London thought for a moment.
"Once we get back, I believe I can get it done in a few days." He said thoughtfully. He nodded his head and looked over at her. "Especially with your help."
