Got a bit distracted by another read, but I'm 40% done with the book!

(view spoiler)[I personally can't see Brienna as a side character within the story of bringing the queen back to power, so I'm expecting something to happen that reveals Brienna might be the true queen to be, or magic moved towards another family after the stone was stolen. (hide spoiler)]

We aren't supposed to know Brienna's true father until this point, and it's supposed to be a surprise to everyone, but it wasn't to us. The world was so rich, the characters were just fantastic to read and I loved seeing how they all related to each other, and even the plot was quite interesting. 39% (view spoiler)[Well this is an interesting read! I'm really liking it so far! I reckon she's totally got some magic, hence the visions of the man and the gravitation towards Maevan history (sorry for the spelling, I'm listening to the audio).

I'm really worried about what Cartier's going to think about her new Patron, but I'm really pleased that she's got one! And that she trusted Madame with her peculiarities.

Siri started to grate on my nerves a bit towards the end of their studies.

Finished. Review: That was definitely something different! I really wish I had bought it now, so that I could have the beauty of the hardcover on my shelves as well as discovering the beauty of the story at the same time.

I love how there wasn't (view spoiler)[any romance in that one, although I really sense it coming in the second one. (hide spoiler)] I also really liked how (view spoiler)[Cartier was actually one of the three rebelling families. I didn't see that coming. (hide spoiler)] I loved the friendship element of this novel, it was very appealing. Also the level of trust between all of the characters. I really like Breanna as a character, how she's always honest and is very loyal and knows her duty. She's inspirational.
Can't wait for the second book.

Chapter 1 (view spoiler)[Okay, I seriously want to know who her father is... is he the king of Maevan, and she his only heir (even if illegitimate), hence explaining the title - and also why the lady was willing to grant her entry to the “passion school” despite her lack of artistic passion?

It’s also nice to see that she gets along well with the other people training to be passions, especially considering they’ve al loved together for seven years... be very awkward if there were enemies among them ._. (hide spoiler)]

Okay, I’m 100% convinced that Brienna is Maevan royalty. That what, astral projecting thing? Hearing something else happening at that moment but not in that place? Or at that place but not in that moment? Definitely magic. And considering what they were previously saying about who the royal family in Maevan were and WHY they were the royal family? Gotta be the case.

Maybe I’m being stubborn here, and refusing to see anything else but my conspiracy theories... but I think Brienna’s grandfather is Lord Kavanagh, and her mother his youngest daughter :|

That Brienna doing what she did, having access to her ancestor’s memories and using said knowledge to undo the treachery that her ancestor wrought, after essentially being prophecised to do so by the previous princess? suddenly made a whole lot more sense as to why Bri was NOT the royal :P

I’m a tad miffed as to how her older brother died... I felt that his ambitions (and reasoning behind her attempted murder) could’ve been fleshed out more but I DID live Nessie coming to the rescue ;D

Overall, I’m pretty happy with it... though I’m very confused that there’s more to this, with another book coming out next year? I feel it’s pretty complete as it is - after all, it’s not like there was some cliffhanger ending or anything! (hide spoiler)]
