Anne ✨ Finds Joy (annefindsjoy) | 718 comments Get PAIRED UP with another PenPal Reader and read a book off each other's READ shelf! (Or you can do a buddy read together of a book you're both interested in reading! )

More Details:

SIGNING UP/PAIRINGS
- You will sign up each month that you would like to participate. Sign-up is open from mid-month until the end of the month for the following month's challenge.
- You will be paired randomly to another participant. The pairings are announced in the thread on the 1st of the month, when the challenge begins. (*you might want to make a note in your calendar to remind yourself to check the thread on the 1st.)

COMPLETING THE CHALLENGE
- Week 1: Visit your assigned partner's profile page to browse their 'Read Shelf' and choose a book(s) to read. Post a comment in the thread to let your partner know what you'll be reading. (You can ask them for suggestions, or arrange a buddy read too!)
- Week 1-4:Begin reading, and post any updates/thoughts as you read.
- Week 3-4:Complete your read, and post a comment with your final thoughts, and comparing how you and your partner each rated the book.

FAQ
- If your paired partner doesn't post to the thread in the first week: You can send them a friendly message (use the 'Send Message’ link on their profile page) to check-in with them and see if they still plan to participate.
- If you or your paired partner can no longer participate that month: It's ok, it happens. But please post an update in the thread. There are usually participants who read multiple books/month, and would be happy to do a double-copycat for the month, so that no one is left without a partner!
- If you don't finish your book within the month: No worries! The thread will stay active, so you can keep posting updates until you finish.
- If you are having trouble choosing a book: Ask your paired partner for recommendations. Or use the handy 'Compare Books' feature (link is on individual's profile page), to find books that your partner has read that are on your to-read shelf. If you can't find anything on their 'Read' shelf, try their 'To-Read' shelf. Or join them in a 'currently reading' book. It's all good, the goal is for everyone to be happy choosing and reading a book!

Jazzy Lemon (jazzylemon) | 494 comments I should like it to last possibly more than a month, perhaps two? But I have been paired with Jeferson and will be possibly(?) reading 1984. I'm working on three other challenges as well. PS I am rubbish at using goodreads and don't know where I'm supposed to post.

Hi Jazzy! Thanks for suggestion... The monthly copycat thread does stay active, so you can definitely keep reading and commenting on the March Copy Cat Challenge thread until you finish your book(s).

here's the link to the March thread where you can post what you are reading!

We start a new copycat each month so that readers who've finished their previous challenge can participate again and get a new pairing. But I will check with participants, if the majority prefers a 2-month duration vs. 1-month duration for copycat, we can definitely revise.

Glad you've joined our group, and I'm sure you'll soon figure out all the threads. The homepage to our group shows the most current threads with active comments, or you can view ALL of the discussion threads (sorted by topic) here

Hi Sharon! One is NEVER too old for a PenPal!!! A friend reminded me with the wonderful quote: "Aging is an extaordinary process whereby you become the person that you always should have been"! Love that!

Glad you joined us at PenPal readers. I hope you will post in the 'Seeking a PenPal' thread, and join us in some fun reading challenges!

Yes, as long as you can still communicate you're never too old for pen pals!
In fact, I was 57 in October and just started playing the guitar in November. I practice every day and it's coming along - slowly, but coming along! I went back to the guitar shop to try out another guitar and the young lad who sold me my first guitar looked at me and his eyes got wide and he said, You've improved!

I asked for a pen pal years ago but it was all young kids and i'm not sending postcards to teenagers ☺️
