J, everyone, have you read "Wide Sargasso Sea"? It is early fan fiction from the 1960s and the author conjures up from Rochester's West Indies trip and his marriage to the "crazy wife in the attic." He is unquestionably unkind. Of course, this is all fiction, but a part of our brain doesn't realize that, hence we get passionate about these discussions!
