As the marines get close The commanding officer yells "Hold your fire, friendlies." The marines cautiously advance and enter the Trench the party is in. Notably there is one A.S.T. with the Marines. The Marine commanding officer approaches Travis. "Your a sight for sore eyes. The name is gunner sergeant Frank Hill." says the man as he offers his hand for a handshake.

Dimi gets up and G peeks over the trench to see what’s going on around them.

G notices that the area around them has turned suspiciously quiet.

Travis shakes Frank's hand. "Corporal Travis Steele. Army, obviously."

"Corporal where is the rest of your men?" Questions the sergeant.

Dimi stands by, and G closely watches this man to see if he can learn anything about him by observation. ((16+3IntMod+3insight=20))

G watches the sergeant closely and can figure out that he was at least 3rd in command. But all his superiors were killed. G can also tell that the squad of men in company with the sergeant are only a fraction of their original strength. The sergent looks happy to see some friendly faces but disappointed that there are so few of them.

Do you have orders for us? G asked.

before the Sergent could respond explosions started erupting all over the area, some even inside the trench itself. "Artillery get down." Yells the sergeant as he tackles Travis down into the mud.

As the shells exploded all around. Everyone scrambles for cover. Dimi and G scramble to the western wall of the trench. Then a shell explodes near a section of the western trench wall. Collapsing it and burying G alive in mud. Dimi successfully dodges out of the way of the mudslide. Travis and the sergeant crawl their way to the western wall of the trench. Eventually every American soldier that is alive gets to a stable position. Then the shells stop coming down and to the west can be heard multiple war cries.

G curses and tries to free himself of the mud. Luckily for him, Dimi helps.

G is able to dig himself out of the mudslide with the help of Dimi. The war cries seem to get closer now. It sounds like the KPA are mounting a counter attack.

Travis puts away his glow stick and hunkers down against the wall of the trench, weapon in hand. "Let them come to us! Don't expose yourselves!"

The sergeant peaks over the top of the trench and crouches back down " They outnumber us 3 to 1 but we got an AST. What's the plan here corporal?" Asks the sergeant to Travis.

"We wait for them to funnel down the trench, then pick them off. No use in run out in front of them." Travis replied.

“I’ll take point” G says. Dimi readied himself against the trench wall.

The sergent looks over the trench again with his night vision gogles. "It looks like they are 80 yards out. Only a quarter are entering the trenches. The rest have fixed bayonets and look like they are trying to charge our trench." Says the sergent as he observes their enemy.

"Alright." Travis adressed the Seargent. "You, me, and the AST, and half of your men will take the chargers. The rest of you will proect us from anyone entering the trenches."

((Lol, sorry)) Dimi and G both salute, each taking a position on either side.

The Sargent and the AST stood up and started shooting at the Charging KPA soldiers. immediately taking some out. Then an KPA attack helicopter flew in from the north and started shooting at the AST. The AST turns and fires an RPG at the helicopter, killing the pilots instantly. But the machine out of control hurtled toward the earth becoming a fireball that made it's way through the trench.

The sergent can see the flaming ball is going to take out most of the trench and orders his men forward out of harms way. G, Dimi and Travis Follow suite jumping into no mans land. The AST is too slow and is crushed by the wreckage. which also sets most of the trench on fire creating a momentary wall of flame behind the american soldiers. By Now the KPA have closed to 120 feet and some have started shooting at the Americans while the rest still run forwards.

Dimi, being the defender, runs forward, putting himself on the front line. He deploys his shield and releases full-auto fire into the enemy lines. ((DC 8+5+1=14))

G takes advantage of this and makes a burst fire attack before getting behind Dimi and his shield. ((DC 8+5+3=16. I think I did those right. Also, I assume we're in combat again? We didn't roll init gain, but they started firing, so...))

Dimi fires on the advancing KPA and kills 3 soldiers, before he runs out of ammo. Then G takes out a soldier before getting to cover behind Dimi's shield.

Travis looks over the edge of the trench and fired at the oncoming house of KPA. ((Full auto. 14 total.))

Travis shoots the remaining rounds of his gun killing 2 KPA soldiers. The KPA charge is now 60 feet away and a few stop to shoot at the Americans. a couple of bullets crack on Dimi's shield and some bullets hit the mud in front of Travis. some Americans are shot, while others return fire and still others pull out their bayonets, preparing for the inevitable melee.

G hops out from the cover to blast another spray of burst fire into the KPA before returning behind Dimi. (15 DC)

G shoots and kills one KPA soldier, before returning to cover behind Dimi.

Travis spends sometime reloading his gun. While the Charging KPA soldiers finally meet the Americans and a melee begins. 4 KPA soldiers charge at Dimi and G. thrusting their bayoneted guns at them. While 3 charge at Travis and the sergeant. One of the KPA soldiers knock Travis across his face with the butt of his ak12. An KPA soldier tries to stab the sergeant but he uses his gun to deflect the attackers bayoneted rifle. The sergent the pulls out his side arm and shoots the soldier in the knee then in the neck. All around the soldiers are struggling in the mud and the rain.

((G and Dimi each take 5 damage, while Travis takes 7.))

((G will use his reaction to cut the damage done. He takes 3 damage and is now at 25. Dimi is at 42, if I remember right.))

Dimi reloads, then attacks twice (extra attack and action surge, his spell dc is 13 and he’s using burst fire.) and G attacks, also finding a gap in the unfortunate KPA’s defense. (+5 for the sneak attack)

G shoots at the two KPA soldiers in front of him and kills one, but the other dodges his first shots. But G kills him with his second burst fire. Dimi shoots at the Two in front of him and kills one.

Travis is going to fire at the nearest KPA soldiers. He spends an action emptying his clip into the oncoming army, then another to reload. ((Forgot I had bonus action last time. 19 to hit, 10 damage.))

Travis kills the two KPA soldiers trying to melee with them, and 2 more that are fighting other Americans. The Sargent shoots the last KPA soldier that has been trying to melee with him and Travis. The KPA soldiers by now are clearly loosing the melee. Some have started to surrender, while others turn to flee back where they came from. The KPA soldier in front of G tries to surrender. The Sargent switches to his Scarab to shoot as some of the retreating KPA, but finds out that the blade damaged his gun enough to not be operational. But now the KPA soldiers who went in the trenches are shooting at the mass of people from their entrenched position.

Dimi heads over to Travis and the others, using ready action, ready to help an ally that gets attacked.

Not having time to take him prisoner, G shoots the soldier as he turns (10+4=14 to hit, ugh, 1,2,1=4 dmg) And follows Dimi towards the others.

G Shoots the soldier through the stomach, wounding him and sending to the mud reeling with pain.
