I completely agree on all those points, especially the (view spoiler)[ it being unrealistic. And no reporters? Well, hey, as it turns out in the end, there are vanishings happening ALL the time. I mean, you can just go to a spot and hope to vanish. So people disappear ALL the time, often from the SAME spots, and no one covers that and just thinks people who actually look into it are loons? Right. (hide spoiler)]

Even so, I usually rate books by how much I enjoyed the actual story, by how much it gave me different feelings and thoughts. And by how much I am able to overlook all the stuff I don't like about it. :D I had a lot of fun reading it and couldn't put it down :D Sometimes there are negative things that will really bring down a rating for me but in this case I can overlook it :D

Dad (view spoiler)[As you guys said, I feel really bad for him and I don't think Kyra is treating him like she should be. For those entire 5 years the main thing on his mind was finding Kyra and figuring out what happened to her. She is showing no appreciation for what he spent the last 5 years of his life doing and she is always ignoring him and not answering his questions that could help her find out what happened. The Husband (view spoiler)[ He wasn't really mentioned anymore! When Mom and probably Tyler's mom were quarantined, where was The Husband and Logan? I still feel like something was off with him. And mom as well, but maybe she is off because of The Husband.

Maybe he really was sent to watch her or something, and he came soon after she went missing and that's why he married her mom, because he didn't know exactly when she would come back, and he was sent to her specifically because she is supposed to be special! Though in that case he isn't doing a good job of watching her, she escaped. Unless he is hiding and still watching her. I'm just getting carried away here.. :D Hmm, I wonder WHY she is special. AAh, why do sequels take so long to come out?! (hide spoiler)]

I probably will continue with the series, I am intrigued to know more and it was a fast paced book, hard to put down, even if unrealistic! It's fiction, so I'll forgive it for those things because the story really kept my interest! I wish the next book would at least have a release date though.
