That works for Option C, Book 1 - any book by one of the attending authors is acceptable, as long as it meets SRC criteria.

Titles only; subtitles should be ignored.

It does look like it's having issues at the moment - if it doesn't resolve by the end of the day I'll ask the mods what to do about it. In the meantime, a list of all speakers at TLA can be found on pages 58-61 of the conference program - this should include all of the authors, but be sure to check back here before posting.

That's fine.

Need to Know
The book does take place in and around DC, but there really is no insight into this besides that the protagonist is a CIA analyst -do you need a quote from the book, how else can I verify? Thanks for your help=I don't want to get to far without knowing if the book will qualify

I can't determine the setting of this book, as I haven't read it - you'd need to include a quote from the book or another source ( e.g. a book review or Wikipedia page) verifying the location when you post your task.

I was curious about this book, so I looked at my public library site and they had a Library Journal review on the page that listed that the protaganist lives in Washington, D.C. with her 4 young children and her doting husband. http://catalog.manhattan.lib.ks.us/po...

A Challenge member (KSMARY)-directed me to the Manhattan Library site

If you go there, if you would please and thank you, and scroll to the bottom there is a review by the Library Journal that verifies that the protagonist lives in DC. (2nd paragraph) Sorry to bother you again with this, but I really would like to have it verified before I start reading. just cannot read anything that does not fit a challenge right now

Just an FYI - I have read it (got lucky and got an ARC from Negalley) It does take place about 90% in DC and suburbs. I really enjoyed it!

If it's set at least 50% in NYC, then it works. It also seems like the book has a lot images/illustrations, so be sure it meets the SRC requirements and has at least 100 pages of text.

Can I now get Need to Know verified
Thanks"
I can't verify a novel's setting in this thread. If it is set at least 50% in Washington, DC, then it works.

Ok, thanks. Did not know you could not verify, still learning the ropes.

When you post the book / task as completed ... refer to the cited information to prove the location.

Just keep count, and be sure when you post your task to include that it has enough text to meet SRC requirements.

Got it! Thanks!

When I click the link, I go to a page with a video banner at the top, and then if I scroll down there is a list of authors (tiled pictures with author names over them). At the top of the list (just under the video) are buttons that allow you to filter by day/type/genre. Is that not what you're seeing?

Spring is conference season at work, and I've got a busy schedule of events ahead of me!
This is a two book task. Choose one of the options below and read Book 1 and Book 2 from that option.
Books with the Main Page Genres of Sequential Art, Comics, Comic Book, and Manga can be used for this task. The books must have a combined total of at least 500 pages.
Required: State which option you chose when you post.
Option A: TLA (Texas Library Association), April 3-6
This will be my second year attending TLA, and my first time presenting!
Book 1: Read a book written by a single author who is attending TLA 2018 found on this list: Authors at TLA. Required: State the author's name in your post.
Book 2: Read a book found on this list of books by Texas Authors. Required: Specify in your post the page of the list on which the book is found.
Option B: SFWA (Science Fiction Writers of America), May 17-20
The Nebula Awards for science fiction/fantasy literature are presented during this conference, held this year in Pittsburgh, PA.
Book 1: Read a Nebula Award winner or nominee from any year. The award winner or nominee designation must be present on the Goodreads main book page.
Book 2: Read a book with a title with at least two words where ALL words in the title start with the same letter. All words count including articles. Subtitles should be ignored.
Option C: BEA (BookExpo America), May 30-June 1
BookExpo America is a reader's paradise - the biggest publishing conference of the year.
Book 1: Read a book written by a single author who is appearing this year at BookCon 2018, BEA's sister event for non-professionals. A list of authors can be found here: 2018 Guests.
Book 2: Read a book set at least 50% in a city that has hosted BEA: New York, NY; Chicago, IL; Washington, DC; or Los Angeles, CA. Required: If the setting of your book is not evident in the description or metadata, please explain how the book fits the task.
