The first books are about three people one guy and two women in a bit of a love triangle. He gets them both pregnant. One is a princess and the other is the granddaughter of a REALLY bad man who is of a race of winged people. The series ends with the princess sacrificing herself to save the world, the guy kills the monster that kills her and he and the other girl marry and have kids. It is found out later that the girl who gave her life was brought back by some primal powers as a deer. And her son goes to some elvish people and visits his mother in the woods.
I remember some of the people have wings and can fly. The magic is based on stars and singing.
Later in the series the story shifts to their children. When the children are born their magic gives them knowledge and they are totally self aware powerful infants. One is born with lots of hate and helps a monster kidnap his brother who he is jealous of. They get the brother back and their infant son is punished by having his magic sealed and cut off so he becomes a normal baby with no knowledge of what he did.
Later it shifts to when the children grow up. The punished child has been ostracized for the things he did as a child, he has no magic while his family is incredibly powerful. He is then framed by his brother for the death of his sister because is brother and sister were having a icky/hate/incest relationship.
After that the young man who was framed goes on the run with a powerful artifact staff following some magical call. He uses the staff to turn the original woman who gave her life for the world back to human from a deer. She then starts following some wise power or death or something with a promise of you will either know oblivion or great happiness. She is fine with either way so she starts following his directions.
The young man who was framed went to the stars and found the evil whispers he followed. They used his bound magic to get back to the world and left him like an empty sack of skin by the portal. They went off to do their evil deeds which was to revive their master which will also destroy the world.
The deer girl finds the sack boy and revives him and they go off and start trying to save the world
The original woman and man from the first books have been floundering around all this time. They do stuff that really don't make any headway
The big bad gets revived and he instantly kills the son who really killed his sister. It was discovered that the boy who was framed was the "true hero of legend" or some kind of thing and his entire early life was to make people think he was unimportant. He then does tons of questing stuff, falls in love with the deer lady. This time instead of the deer lady giving her life for the world the "world" which is embodied by a little girl, sacrifices herself for the deer lady and then goes with the boatman over the river of death. After that the true hero guy kills the big bad.
If anyone remembers what this series is please let me know its really bugging me. I've already spent all night googling the spice out of this thing.
