I listened to the audio of this book and it was WONDERFUL! I enjoyed it so much that I didn't want it to ever end. It is up there with one of my most favourite audio experiences. It tells the story of Cyril Avery from before he is born until the end of his life. It explores what it means to be a homosexual in the conservative Catholic nation that is Ireland and manages to cover a miltitiude of themes with finesse. The characters are wonderful, it is heartbreaking, hilarious, and AMAZING! I will say that reading this requires the reader to suspend disbelief to an extent as there are many coincidences throught the novel. I was more than happy to accept the coincidences and let the story wash over me. It will definitely be in my top ten for the year.

Yes! They are discernible though, so I suppose they are somewhat diluted. The narrator did a wonderful job in my opinion.
Susie wrote: "I hope you love it Kate! Then it will be worth the groan!"How can I resist sparkling stars? ;)
YYYEEESSS!!! I knew you would love it! I have been awaiting your review. I laughed, I cried, I cried a lot more, and then I closed the book with a contented sigh.
I have one burning question but it is a HIGE Spitler so I will send you a PM.

LOL I just burst out laughing at work XDBut yeah, came here to see what the ginormous stars were about so I'll be adding it to my TBR also.
Bahaha BC! That was quite the typo. I was just so excited that Susie loved the book!!!I don’t even know how that autocorrect came about. Lol
Needs a new warning - HIGE SPITLER ALERT. May help to prevent spontaneous drowning in mouthfuls of coffee
Ugh. I want to try the audio on this, but out of 28 libraries in my state that have the book, no one has the audio. As I've said before, I'm really not a big fan of audio but for some reason I really feel like I would enjoy the audio on this one more than the book. I guess I have no choice cuz I'm not going to buy the audio.
