A Certain Sort of Madness// A Matter of Curiosity

Oh, I LOVE that book! That's so cool--can't wait to read this one!

Here's an excerpt...
Olivia simply snorts. “And who are you supposed to be? Robin Hood?”
“Not quite,” Dante replies dropping from the tree right in front of us. He looks me over with those infinite depths of black and says, “You’re not dead.” His voice is slightly laced with awe. “I certainly wasn’t expecting that.”
I’m not going to lie, I find that slightly insulting. I mean after he saw me knock that dragon out of the sky now he’s suddenly surprised that I somehow managed to survive a wound inflicted by said dragon. “I told you I could handle the dragon, what made you think I couldn’t handle that little scratch the dragon gave me?”
“Unbelievable,” Olivia says pressing her hand against her forehead. “I cannot believe the conversation I am hearing right now.”

THIS IS GOLD. GOLD, I TELL YOU.

*bows* thank you, thank you. Three characters brought together *counts on fingers* four to go! Then onto the fairy court :P

Hmmm, I wonder who the imaginary friend is? I can't wait to read this sometime! (being hopeful that I will. Because I like how it sounds.)

Well, that's a bit of a secret shhh... XD I'm glad you find it interesting. I'm really, really hoping it have it published this fall, but I suppose only time will tell if I am triumphant :P

Here's a brief snippet of what I wrote (little as it is) today.
“My mother went missing this morning.”
“I’m sorry to hear that,” Dante said actually sounding almost sincere. “But I haven’t seen my mother for eleven years so I’m not entirely sure what you want me to do about it.”

Noice.... :D I likes this.

I'm glad that you do :P I'm not sure about the whole eleven years thing since that's how long Cedric was imprisoned in the forest, but when I added it up their ages for how long it's been since certain things happened it ended up being eleven years so *shrugs*

Here's an excerpt...
I blink. My heart twists as if scolding me for being so cruel to him. “I’m so sorry. What happened to her?” I’m almost afraid of the answer, as if hearing about something horrible happening to some other person’s mother will somehow make things worse for my own. And yet something deep down needs to know. So I can reassure myself that whatever happened to his Mother couldn’t possibly happen to mine. That their fates- that our fates- will not be the same.
And yet there’s another part of me, hidden just as deep that fears that the same thing that happened to Dante with his mother will happen to me with mine. And that somehow knowing, I will be able to prevent that fate.
“Nothing,” Dante replies with a completely straight face. He shrugs. “As far as I know, at least. Well, other than losing me, that is.”

Here's an excerpt...
I swallow my food and tap my spoon against the edge of my bowl. “I don’t know where to start. Honestly it’s a long story, but I suppose it’s also ridiculously short.” I shrug. “It really depends on the storyteller I guess.”
Dante pauses as he is lowering himself into the chair across from me and frowns. “That was no help, whatsoever.”
I sigh and stretch my fingers out on my lap. “All right, since I like to think of myself as the type of storyteller who would tell the short version, I’ll be as quick as possible.”
He bites the inside of his lip and plops down the rest of the way into his chair. “Still not helping.”
I nod and force a smile. “I’m really just muddling things up aren’t I? How about I stop with the introductions and just start with the story, eh?”
He presses the pad of his thumb to his lips and glances away before turning back to me. “You’re really not good at this whole conversing thing are you?”
I wince. “No… it doesn’t help that I don’t know where to start.”
Dante sighs and leans across the table clasping his hands. “I would suggest at the beginning.” He raises an eyebrow and shrugs wryly. “But then what do I know?”

now I want to know what the story is....

Haha! Good... XD

Honestly, this is me telling stories to my friends, and them getting frustrated with me for not getting on with it...XD

Here's an excerpt...

Haha, really? Honestly this is me too. I often comment that my brain is a pasture and my thoughts are horses. Sometimes they like to stick around and graze, but more often than not they are running free and I have to hunt down each and every "horse" XD

Here's an excerpt...
“And then there’s the teeny fact that I’ve been dreaming about you my whole life.”
Dante leans back in his chair and squeezes his chin between his forefinger and thumb. “Which, of course, isn’t disturbing at all.”
I shrug. “I mean I was somewhat disturbed when I met you afterward, but they weren’t disturbing on their own. They were actually rather amusing dreams.” I lean forward and smile at my imaginary friend. “You were an adorable friendly little boy.”

That snippet is golden....
And nice count! :D"
Thanks! They're so amusing together because his sarcasm just goes right over her head XD She rarely understands what he is saying.

They are definitely fun to write together :P

Here's an excerpt...
“I still don’t think we should trust him, Licia, this is all coming together too easy. He’s too willing to help us. Mark my words he’s plotting how to murder us now.”
Alicia scowls at me. “He didn’t agree easily. I had to threaten him in order to get him to even agree.”
“And you don’t think that’s enough motive for him to want to murder us?” I demand rising from my seat.
There’s a knock on the door and Dante pokes his head in. “I hate to interrupt you guys debating whether I should be trusted or not, especially seeing how important that answer probably is for the rest of our venture, but daylight isn’t going to last forever so if you want to go we should probably go now.”

Here's an excerpt...
“I still don’t think we should trust him, Licia, this is all coming together too..."
hmm... the suspense is increasing. Trust this Dante or not? Trust him or not? With an author in charge, who knows whether betrayal is on the line or not!

Mwahaha... true indeed. Nothing is as it seems, my dear charries. But go on, continue on your blissful way and let's hope nothing happens... *cackles like a loon*

THE INTRIGUE IS SPLENDID. I WANTS MORE. XD

Thank you! Yay, I'm glad you're interested. Poor, Alicia is really too naive though. Must be a side affect of being crazy and never leaving her manor when she was growing up XD

Here's an excerpt...

That....would do it. XD Poor gal.

Yup, trying to go for the whole crazy Rapunzel vibe XD Though I think the poor souls in this book are everyone who have to put up with her...

Here's an excerpt...
“It’s a very nice library at that,” I state. And it is. A large stone building with stain glass windows and turrets. It looks like a castle. A castle filled with books. I could probably spend my whole life here.
*grins sheepishly* somehow libraries keep showing up in my books... I wonder why XD

Here's an excerpt...
“I find that hard to believe,” Dante replies dryly. “Considering the dangerous life you lead.”
I wave my hand. “My life isn’t dangerous. I just sometimes like to make stupid choices to spice it up a little bit.”

Here's an excerpt...
“He’s not normally this violent. I don’t know what’s gotten into him.”
“You mean he doesn’t normally try to kill you?” I ask, pulling Olivia back several steps. Wonderful, this means that he’s probably after me or Olivia then. And since this is only Olivia’s first visit to Amar, I doubt it’s her.
Dante shakes his head, dislodging several shards of broken glass. “No, I’m not saying that he doesn’t try to kill me. He’s just not normally so violent when he tries to do so. Or so persistent.”

And epic word counts!!!!"
Haha, I'm glad that you like it! And thanks :D

Here's an excerpt...
“Nobody said anything about stealing anything!” Olivia cried.
“You must have missed it,” Dante replied dryly. “I just did.”

Here's an excerpt...
“He’s holding a knife!” Olivia screams, startling me out of my concentration. I glance back at her to give her a glare so she’ll know just how displeased I am with her. She grabs Eugene’s arm and moves behind him. “Stop him! I am not going to end up stabbed, mugged, and left for dead in a fantasy world.
Eugene holds up his hands. “I’m afraid that knives are not my specialty.

*dies laughing* I think I really like these characters....

Yeah, they're really fun. Alicia is the one who claims to be crazy, but I'm pretty sure Olivia is the only actually sane one.

Here's an excerpt...

Nope, I know I definitely wouldn't either. Thanks! :D

I’m not going to lie. This is not how I saw my day going. I mean sure, it’s been a strange day to begin with and definitely filled with plenty of peril. But I did not expect to end it by being dragged off into the woods by a slightly psychotic kidnapper who just threatened to slit my throat and then very nearly followed through with that promise.

YIKES. Poor gal....(I'm assuming it's a gal...) XD

Well, quite a few secrets have come to light. And that wasn't actually intentional, but oh well.
Here is a non-spoilery excerpt...
“I’m sorry, but I tend to try to avoid brawls,” Eugene says mildly. Stroking Chandler’s head. “They’re a bit too… messy... and bloody... and painful for my tastes.”
“You’re useless!” Olivia screams at him. “Can you do anything?”
“I think you’ll find that I’m extremely good at kissing if you ever want to take me up on it.”

I think that's actually a very accurate description for the book as a whole ;P

Haha, Eugene as a socially awkward turtle, but yeah all the rest of my characters are weird in their own ways which in turn makes the book wierd ;P
I know, to be completely honest the whole imaginary friend aspect was somewhat inspired by The Girl Who Could See I really wanted to try writing something about imaginary friends so... *grins*
