I KNOW I have followed your page in the past and feel like last time your posted your page on a thread like this I was surprised I wasn't following you. Once again, it did not show I was following you on Facebook anymore. I don't know what is happening there. Rant over...I am following you again. Lol

I'm so sorry, I can only follow and cheer in spirit. I don't do other social media because of insufficient time to keep up.

There were previously separate threads for FB and Twitter, but they're probably buried by now. I think it might be useful to make this an "author online presence" thread instead of just social media. I've started a spreadsheet to keep track of all the places I have writing profiles, book listings, guest posts, interviews, etc., because otherwise I don't know what's where anymore. In that spirit, here are my profile links:

Definitely a good idea this one. I've just joined Facebook (I know I'm about thousand years late) and feeling a bit lost and lonely on there, so if anyone could add me that'd make me smile big. I'll follow other pages where I can (mostly just Facebook, blogs and Goodreads, I am not very social media savvy :/ )

Petra-welcome to Facebook. :) You should create an author page so we can like and follow your page. Under the main menu, there should be a "page" section. In that section should be an option to create a new page. You will be able to set up an author page there.

You may be interested to know I have a Facebook group called The Tweeting Co-Promotion Group. We copy and paste our member's tweets into Twitter and sometimes Facebook and other social media platforms too. Your tweets and posts look much better when they're posted by others instead of seeming to blow your own trumpet all the time. The key feature is that it is co-promotion, you don't get this service totally free as you have to also play your part in helping others promote. If you're interested the link is here

Anyone know why I have random numbers after my Facebook name? I didn't put them there. Can I chance them?
Thanks and Hugs to All!!

Following you on Twitter. It wouldn't let me follow you on Facebook. Is looks like you have a personal page set up. Once that is set, you can also make a business page that people can like and follow--but you don't have to. If you want a business page, just go to pages and select the create a page option. You will be able to personalize your page URL once it is set up as a business page.

Followed both. The numbers might be because there are others out there with the same name. Not sure, just guessing...

You haven't set it up wrong. Some people choose to do a personal page as a business page. It is just a personal preference. I got on my laptop and was able to follow you from that. I don't know why my phone wouldn't let me. Dale is right. You have numbers after your name because there are multiple users with your name.
If you did decide to set up a business page in addition to your personal page, you will be able to personalize your URL name and will have access to other features such a review option, insights into your post reaches, and be able to create ads (to name a few benefits). With a personal page, most people need to friend you to follow you and some of the shared content may be limited. When you friend someone, you have access to their personal posts and some people are hesitant to share that info with a business. With a business page, people can like and follow your page without having to friend you. It will also be easier for people to find your business in searches.
Here is how to set up a business page if you are interested.
1. Log in to Facebook
2. If you are on a PC/laptop, click the drop down arrow in the top right corner.
3. Click create page
4. Select the type of page you want to create (probably "local business or place" for you)
5. Follow the steps to set up your page
Also, you have to have a personal page to have a business page, so what you have so far is perfect.

Forget everything I just said. I just saw the link on the side of your personal page for your facebook business page. :) Liked and Following your business page too. :)

Thank you Erica for this information. In following your directions, I realized that's exactly what I did to create that page. I have a Shop Now button. Is there a way to double check it's a business page and not a personal page? Thanks again. Hugs

So sorry about that, Sam. I did not mean to give you a heart attack! Goodreads kept connecting me to your personal page and I didn't see the link on the side of that page for your business page right off. By the way, your pages look beautiful!

I am not sure if you have connected a username to your business page yet. If not, go to your business page and click the "about" tab in the left menu. Once you have enough followers, you will be able to pick an @___________ username. It will make it much easier to tell people about your page. For example, my author page started as facebook. com/ericagraham and a bunch of numbers, making it pretty difficult to share. Now that I have a username, people just need to type facebook.com/ericagrahamauthor.

And to answer question about double checking the type of page--it is a business page so no worries. ;) That was my fault. I was looking at the wrong one. hugs

Thank you again, Erica, for everything. I keep trying to pick an @ name, but continue receiveing the message "you're not eligible to create a user name." Must mean I don't have enough followers? : (

There is some contradicting information about why this happens. For me, it let me add a username after reaching 25 followers. Some people say you need to make sure you have a telephone number connected with your personal account. Other people claim they had to add an admin (a close personal friend) and their friend was able to do it.

I don't even have 25 friends. Ha, ha! I have no idea if anyone is following my page. I have so much to learn... but will... eventually... after much pain and suffering. Ha, ha! Hugs

Looks like you are up to 10 on your business page. :) It will get easier the more you use it. :)
