Crumb Thoughts..

Crumb Hi, Nikki!
I'm on Pg. 75 and..
(view spoiler)

Nikki Joyce Hi Crumb! I was able to pick up the book this afternoon! I hope to start tonight :)

Crumb Sounds great, Nikki! I think you are really going to like it. The beginning is a little slow.. but hang in there.. it gets much, much better.

Nikki Joyce Hi! I’m on chapter 18, page 74. I really like the short chapters, but wow.. lots of characters/side stories being introduced. I’m trying to keep them all straight! 🙃

Crumb I completely agree with you on that one.. I feel like there is a rhythm to this book that is a little difficult to get used to at first.. although, after I started reading it more and more.. I started to really like it.

I am really interested in hearing what you think when you get further in.

Can't wait to hear your thoughts!

Nikki Joyce Hoping to get more reading in today! Can’t wait!!

Crumb Hope you are finding it just as thrilling as I am. I am so grateful for the Popsugar challenge.. otherwise I don't think I ever would have discovered this genre. I'm about 3/4 of the way through. Hoping to finish it tonight!

Nikki Joyce I’m about half way through! It is definitely starting to pick up and flow much better! I am going to try & read more tonight. I had to finish up a Sisters read & catch up on reviews!🙃 so hoping to make more progress tonight 🤞

Crumb I completely agree with you on the flow of the book.. it definitely took a bit of time.. but once you get into the rhythm of the book, WOW! It really takes off! Can't wait to hear what your thoughts are.

Nikki Joyce I finished!! Oh WOW, the back half of the book is really good! It took me a bit to get into it at first, but you are right.. it certainly takes off! I was SO tense. When Marion was taken, ahhhh. I was a nervous wreck. And I did not expect Lukas to kill the pastor!

Observations in general: I really like the relationship between Mia & Holger. They are so different, but they have a really nice partnership. And the author did a great job tying it together. At first, I felt like there were all these different things going on with the girls, the church, Tobias, etc. But it really came together in the back half of the book. It was so interesting to see all of the connections between Karin, Mia, nursing home, the church.. well thought out!

Nikki Joyce One more thought... really liked the twist of it being about Mia instead of Holger. Didn’t expect that!

Crumb This book was such a hit for me! I loved it. I agree with you.. yes it took some time to get used to.. but once it got going.. wow!

Here are some of my observations:
Wow.. I couldn't believe that Malin Stoltz really had NOTHING to do with the murdering and kidnapping of the children. Karen is one, crazy woman. Karen's justification for killing the children really rattled me and angered me. It was so messed up.

I was a nervous wreck, like you mentioned, when Marion and Mia were taken! For a minute, I thought Mia was done for.

I can't believe that Lukas killed the pastor! I was really happy nothing bad happened to Tobias and Rakel.. they already had such a rough life, I was very impressed with Emilie.

I loved, loved the partnership between Mia and Holger. They both had their vices, but they cared for each other deeply. I also thought it was a great twist that it was about Mia and NOT Holger.

This was such a surprising and great read, Nikki! I am so happy I am doing this Popsugar challenge, because otherwise, I don't think I would have ever read "Nordic Noir". This was great!!

Nikki Joyce I know! I couldn’t believe it about Malin either. Karin was crazy scary! This book had such an interesting blend... so much packed into it. I’m so glad you suggested it; I probably would’ve never even stumbled onto it. And now I can actually say I’ve read something in the “Nordic Noir” genre! Ha!
