Nyx looked him over. “It’s alright Luna..” he assured quietly. He bit his lip, trying to figure out what it could be. “Yeah. Of course..” He nodded and stepped back to let Kai in. He flicked a light on in the living room so they wouldn’t just be standing in the dark and talking. Nyx closed the door after Kai came in and stayed near him, wanting to be close as he was still so drawn to him. “Well, What is it?” He asked softly. (It’s alright. Mines a bit short too)
Kai nodded and followed Nyx inside. He looked around the apartment as he flicked on the light on. Kai looked back over at him as he prompted him to speak. ”Well. Um. I’m having a pup. Specifically your pup,” he informed quietly. ”I went to the pack doctor today and he confirmed it,” Kai added. He was scared of how he would react. But no matter what, he was not going to ”get rid” of the pup. He didn’t acre whose pup it was, it was his too and there was not a damn person that could tell him to abandon it.
Nyx’s apartment was mostly clean and orderly, if you ignored the bookshelves on one wall. Those were a mess with books stacked every which way and out of order. The bottom two shelves were pack stuff though so they were kept decently neater. Nyx bit his lip and nodded when kai told him. “Our pup.” He corrected softly, smiling a faint bit. Having a pup wasn’t something he’d planned, especially not with him but they’d make it work. Nyx wouldn’t just leave it to kai, they’d figure it out together. “I’m not sure if this would be more of an apology moment for me getting you knocked up or a congratulations thing cause we’re gonna have a pup...” he mumbled, shifting on his feet.
Kai watched him and relaxed a little when he didn’t blow up. That was the last thing he needed at the moment. ”That’s up to you, Alpha. I just thought you ought to know,” he commented, looking at him. Kai was not sure how he was going to do this. He had no experience with pups whatsoever. He was an only child and he had never been able to help take care of the pack pups before. ”I don’t care if you don’t want to have anything to do with us. I’ll be able to get help from my parents so you don’t have to worry about it, Alpha,” Kai stated, sticking his hands in his pockets as he spoke then looked away.
“Well thanks for telling me..” he said quietly. Nyx watched him for a moment before coming closer to him and moving back into Kai’s line of sight. “No Luna, I’m not just gonna blow this off and stay away from you and our pup. We can figure this out together. And of course I’m gonna worry about it. You’re still my Luna and the one I want to be with. And it’s our pup. I got you pregnant and I’m not just gonna ghost out on you..” Nyx told him quietly, always a bit more gentle and quiet around him. “..Unless you don’t want me involved, in which case, tell me and I’ll respect that..” Nyx added after a moment, hoping Kai wouldn’t chose that. He shifted uneasily on his feet.
Kai looked up as Nyx put himself back in his field of vision and he chewed his lip like it could get him out of this situation. ”I don’t want to cause trouble for you and the pack, Alpha. They would be outraged if they knew an Omega was having your pup, even if it was an accident. I don’t want anything to happen. Especially to the pup,” Kai stated. He realized that he didn’t really give an answer to whether or not he wanted Nyx involved so much as he made up a counterpoint to an imaginary argument. There was no doubt in his mind that he wanted Nyx involved. Kai wanted their pup to know who his father was but if he couldn’t he’d work around it. He wanted to give as much as he could to the pup and if that meant not having Nyx around for fear of danger, then so be it.
“Who says they’d know?” He shrugged slightly. “Or maybe I can find a way to get you up to a higher rank So us being together wouldn’t be such a problem..” Nyx said softly. He watched him worriedly, gently reaching and pulling Kai’s lip from his teeth. “Gentle..” he whispered. He was quiet for a moment before speaking again. “I can protect you Luna. And the pup. And I will protect you two..” Nyx told him. “Unless That isn’t what you want.. I know you didn’t want me seeking you out anymore or anything but I want to be involved if you want me to be. I’m not just gonna leave either way though. Even if you don’t want me involved physically or anything, I’ll make sure you two stay safe and whatever you need.” He said softly, watching Kai and trying to figure out what he’d want.
Kai let go of his lip and fought the urge to not chew it again. ”I do want you involved, Alpha. I want our pup to know both of us but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t scared about the situation,” he admitted softly, turning to fidgeting with his fingers. Kai still found it a bit hard to believe that even as he was standing there with Nyx, he was carrying their pup. ”I want to give them the best life I can and I will do what I have to for that,” Kai stated quietly, instinctively placing his hands on his stomach. He looked back up at Nyx and resisted the itch to go to him and lean on him. This had been what he had always wanted. Just in better circumstances and in a way that didn’t scare him. His pregnancy would only be 5 shorts months but after that, he would have a little pup that could look like either of them.
Nyx nodded slightly. “Then let me stay involved. We’ll figure out the issues with the pack over time and I’ll protect you if they try anything... I’ll protect you two and we’ll find a way...” he told him quietly, biting his own lip. He had no idea how he was gonna do this. Getting Kai to be higher up in the pack typically meant fights and challenges and he didn’t want Kai doing that. Nyx couldn’t just change the rankings around either, at least as far as he knew. He watched him for a moment, taking a breath. “This isn’t gonna be easy to work out with the pack, but I’ll find a way.” He promised quietly, looking st him. He kept his distance even though he wanted to go hug Kai and stay close to him.
Kai couldn’t help a little smile that slipped onto his face. This all hurt less knowing that Nyx cared about him and their pup. The only thing he hoped, for now, was that Nyx’s promises didn’t fall flat. ”Alpha...” he started, ”Are you still going to look for another Luna?” Kai asked in a whisper. He knew it was selfish. Especially after he had told Nyx that he didn’t want him to contact him anymore. But he didn’t want Nyx to look for another mate. It would drive him insane. Kai felt ridiculous for it but he also felt like he couldn’t help it. He wanted to be Nyx’s Luna. His only Luna.
Nyx smiled faintly when he saw Kai's smile. He bit his lip lightly. "No... I haven't been looking for another Luna and I'm not planning on it.." Nyx replied quietly. He hadn't wanted to look for another Luna after he'd denied Kai, not knowing how to find someone else when everything in him was still pulling towards Kai. He didn't want to fight that and try and find someone else. Now there was a pup going to be added in to the equation so he definitely wasn't gonna look for someone else and possibly get them knocked up too. Instead, Nyx wanted to find some way to have Kai. "I'm allowed to contact you now though, right?" He asked softly, tilting his head slightly.
Kai felt some weight lift off his chest as Nyx said he wouldn't be looking for another Luna. Maybe they really could work this out. ”Yeah, of course,” Kai replied, giving a little-crooked smile. He fell quiet them looked up after a moment. ”I should probably go home. I’m sorry I bothered you so late at night, Alpha,” he apologized. Being submissive and constantly apologetic towards Nyx was just habit at this point. He had been taught his whole life to never inconvenience Alphas or Betas if he ever got the chance to be near them. It would be a hard habit to break, if he ever tried to.
Nyx relaxed slightly and smiled faintly. “Okay,.” He nodded, watching Kai quietly. “It’s okay Luna. I just got home right before you arrived. And you don’t need to keep apologizing to me. When we’re not around the pack, you don’t have to keep apologizing and being submissive to me. Okay? If we're gonna be with each other and together, we should be equal..” Nyx told him softly, knowing the pack or his parents would’ve gone ballistic if they heard him say that but he didn’t care. “That also means you don’t have to keep calling me Alpha..”
What Nyx said caught him off guard. He had never expected him to say that. Kai would have thought him one of the last people to ever say something like that. Still, Kai gave a little nodded a shuffled a couple steps forward. ”I will try to remember Al- Luna,” he announced, stumbling over his words at the end and blushed lightly. ”Good night,” Kai said quickly after that, moving forward and placing a quick kiss on his Aloha’s cheek. He escaped hastily, not taking long to get back to the sidewalk. Kai’s body was now begging for rest after getting some assurance and he wasn’t going to deny it that, especially while carrying a pup.
Nyx smiled softly, keeping a close eye on him. He nodded slightly. “Okay Luna.” He replied softly. “Goodnight.” He said softly, partially wishing he wouldn’t leave but Kai ran off quickly. Nyx blushed faintly at the kiss and went to the door. He locked the door and flicked out the light and went back to the bedroom. “What the hell am I getting myself into?” He Mumbled to himself, changing out of his jeans and T-shirt into a pair of sweats before laying down in bed. He tried to sleep but couldn’t, thinking about Kai and the pup. Nyx had no idea how to get Kai further up in the pack so people would be more accepting but he wanted to be with him still. Kai being pregnant with a pup just seemed to make Nyx feel even more drawn to him. He wanted to protect them.
Not long after Kai arrived home and he went in, locking up behind him. Relief had long since slid over him and he felt better about all of it. About him and Nyx. About their pup. Kai was trusting Nyx and he hoped it didn’t leave him in the dirt. He showered and headed to bed, not realizing how tired he was. As soon as Kai’s head hit the pillow, he was asleep, curled in his blankets with a protective arm around his stomach.

((Straight to birth feels too fast... Maybe a period where they finally give in to affections? Or Nyx actually has to protect Kai because someone found out and thinks it's disgraceful and therefore tries to kill him? Idk. Just throwing things out there.))

Kai took a deep breath as he slid on a t-shirt thst successfully hid the small bump growing on his stomach. He was now almost 2 months along but were pregnancies were faster than humans so he only had 3 more months to go. But today, Kai had promised to meet with Nyx that day. He had, however, forgotten to ask where they were going to ask. ”Good job, Kai,” he mumbled to him in annoyance, grabbing his phone off the nightstand and texting Nyx. He set it back down and looked in the mirrior. Time was passing by quickly and he constantly wondered where it went.
Nyx sighed softly as he quietly got ready to meet up with Kai. He’d showered and gotten dressed in jeans and a plain T-shirt and was just about ready to leave to meet up with Kai. He grabbed his phone. ‘Oh yeah. We didn’t figure that out. Want me to just come to your apartment and we’ll go from there or is there some place you want to meet up at?’ He texted back, smiling a bit. He waited for his reply.
Kai looked at the text and nipped at his lips, fingers poised to write a reply.- That works. Just head here and we can figure it out from there. -
Kai let out a breath and smiled at his reflection. He had been happy the past couple weeks. He and Nyx were making progress and while they hadn’t done anything about his social standings, they were making small, constant improvement within their relationship. But now that Nyx was coming over, Kai needed to straighten up his apartment. He padded out and started some light cleaning, picking up his various coats and put them away.
Nyx smiled and nodded. He left his apartment, locking the door behind him. He got in his car and drove to Kai’s place instead of walking since he didn’t know where they’d want to go afterwards. They’d mostly spent time together at either of their apartments that way the pack wouldn’t notice them or go after them. Nyx was still trying to figure out how to help Kai in the pack but anything he did would be so obvious that someone would notice. He was tempted to do it anyways though. He drove to Kai’s apartment and parked, getting out and walking up to his apartment door. He knocked quietly.
Kai had nearly finished straightening up when Nyx knocked on the door. He knew it was him by the scent. ”Hey,” Kai greeted with a smile as he opened the door. He moved out of the way so he could come inside. He closed the door behind him, going over to the couch. Kai usually sat weirdly, like now. He sat with his legs crisscrossed and rather than have his back against the couch cusion/c his back was against the couch arm. ”So what do we want to do today?” Kai questioned from his spot on the couch, fidgeting to get more comfortable.
“Hey.” Nyx smiled softly. He came in, kissing Kai’s temple lightly. He followed and sat near him on the couch, leaving some room since he knew Kai would fidget for a bit until he got comfortable. “I dunno really. What would you like to do?” He asked him, tilting his head. Nyx was really indecisive around him, not wanting to choose something that Kai didn’t want because it made him feel like he was above Kai for some reason and he just hated it. “I guess a better question might be do you want to go out and do something or just stay here?” He asked.
Kai relaxed when he settled into place and smiled softly when Nyx differed to him rather than making the decision himself. He always did that even though Kai had assured him repeatedly that he would express his displeasure if need be. ”Um. Maybe we could stay in a bit? I’ve been feeling a bit nauseous this morning and I don’t want to get sick in public,” Kai explained, looking over with an apologetic smile. He loved their pup to death already but he’d be lying if he said carrying him or her wasn’t difficult. He picked at a thread on the hem of his t-shirt, tugging it out until it snapped.
Nyx smiled a bit when he finally relaxed. He nodded slightly. “Yeah. Of course we can just stay here.” He assured softly. “I’m sorry they’re making you so nauseous..” he mumbled, leaning over and gently kissing Kai’s forehead. “We’re almost halfway there though at least.” He added with a smile, leaning back and looking at him.
”I’d say it wasn’t your fault but then I would be lying,” Kai joked then smiled a bit wider. ”Yep. Almost. Then there’s still another half to get through,” he replied, placing his hands on the small bump. He realized he would often do it without thinking. ”Should we put in a movie or do something else?” Kai queried, raising a brow at Nyx. He had a small stash of movies under his tv stand and a Netflix account, which he had been using more often than before.
Nyx smiled and rolled his eyes at him. “I know it’s my fault, unintentionally.” He shrugged. “It’s partially their fault too. They’re the one inside you and messing with everything..” he smiled a bit at him. “Yeah but who knows, maybe the second half will be easier.” He said optimistically. “Movies are good with me. Or whatever you want to do.” Nyx shrugged slightly at him. He loved that now he got to spend a lot of time around Kai but it made being apart that much worse cause he’d be almost always be missing his presence and scent. Nyx didn’t complain though, just tried to make as much time as he could to be around Kai.
Kai rolled his eyes and huffed, scooting off the end of the couch. ”If you could give me a straight answer sometime, that would be great,” Kai griped, standing and walking over to the tv to grab the remotes. He took them and underhanded them to the couch so they landed beside Nyx. ”Here. You choose a movie. No, I don’t care what it is. I’m gonna go grab some food,” Kai announced then proceeded to walk off to the kitchen. He made a bowl of popcorn (his safe food) and a cup of milk. Kai was not a regular milk drinker but the pack doctor had advised eating as much of all the good health groups as possible so the pup would be healthier.
Nyx bit his lip. “Sorry Luna.” He said quietly. He watched him, moving and easily catching the remotes when Kai threw them. He watched him head to the kitchen before glancing through the movies that Kai had before scrolling through Netflix and finding a movie. He started the movie and immediately hit pause, waiting for Kai to come back. Nyx glanced at his phone, checking it for notifications before turning the sound off and some notifications off so it wouldn’t be buzzing with any unimportant stuff while he was with Kai. He put his phone back in his pocket and glanced back to the kitchen.
Kai grabbed his snack and padded out to the living room, carefully holding up his cup and bowl as he sat down. He fidgeted for a moment then settled down, the bowl in his lap. ”Okay. Sorry. I’m ready,” he told Nyx, smiling over at him. Kai turned his attention to the Tv and mindlessly grabbed a handful of popcorn, eating each piece individually. He smiled when the movie started. ”This is one of my favorites,” Kai commented as he glanced over at him. Kai knew that Nyx was going to lead the pack one day but he almost coveted the affection Nyx showed him. He knew that it had always been intended for him because he was his mate but he loved it.
“It’s okay..” Nyx assured softly, waiting till he was settled before hitting play on the movie. He stayed near Kai, watching the movie start with him. He nodded slightly, “I figured it was or it was one you wanted to watch since it was on your list..” he commented softly. “Plus, I’ve never seen this one before.” He added, glancing back at him and smiling. Nyx shifted and leaned back against the couch, staying close to him.
Kai nodded then looked back at the tv. He watched the movie quietly, munching on the popcorn as the movie went on. He laughed at some parts and watched with rapt attention. At some point, he put the bowl between him and Nyx as an offer if he was hungry. ”Hold on I’ll be back,” Kai grumbled and pushed himself up off the couch, hurrying as much as he could to the bathroom. He came back a moment later. ”That’ll only happen a couple more times in the next hour,” Kai said aloud, more to himself than anyone else.

Nyx relaxed, watching the movie with him. He thanked him softly and ate a bit of the popcorn quietly. He reached and paused the movie when Kai moved to get up. He glanced at him to make sure he was okay. Nyx waited quietly for Kai to come back. “That’s okay.” He assured softly when he came back. Nyx smiled a bit at him and hit play on the movie again. ((I don’t really have a preference. Do you?)
Kai happily settled back into his seat and managed to make it through the rest of the movie without having to get up. Kai sighed as the movie’s end credits rolled across the screen and he stretched, raising his hands above his head. ”I love that movie,” he said even though he knew he had already said it earlier. ”But now,” Kai announced, putting the popcorn bowl on the coffee table, ”I need to go.” He stood and made his way to the bathroom again, returning a few minutes later. ”This incessant need to go to the bathroom is driving me nuts,” Kai commented, picking up his bowl and cup so he could take them to the kitchen.

Nyx stayed close to him and watched the rest of the movie with him. “Good to know.” He commented, liking the movie as well. Nyx smiled and sat up, stretching. He rolled his eyes at Kai having to use the bathroom again but knew it was because of their pup. “Just a few more months Luna. And maybe they’ll settle down some or something so it won’t be so bad.” He commented softly, getting up and following him to the kitchen. “Is there anything I can do?” Nyx offered softly. (Okay. That’s fine with me.)
”I hope so. I hope so,” Kai said as he rinsed out the dishes and left them on the drying rack. He looked up. ”No. But thank you,” Kai declined but smiled at him. After a moment his smile faltered. ”Nyx... Will the pup really be safe? I don’t want anything to harm them or cause upset in the pack,” Kai said quietly, unsure. Kai being scared was not uncommon. Although he was usually more concerned about their unborn pup than anything else.
Nyx nodded. He leaned back against the counter, watching him quietly as he took care of the dishes. He smiled faintly at him but it faded when Kai’s did. “Yes. They will be safe. Just like you are. I’m still trying to figure out the pack stuff to just resolve this, but I don’t want to just move the ranks unless I have to, it causes too much conflict.” He said quietly, coming over to him. He gently put his hand over Kai’s stomach. “I will protect you both.” Nyx promised softly, meeting Kai’s eyes.
Kai dropped his eyes as Nyx spoke. He listened, trying not to worry too much but he found it to be an inherent issue while carrying this pup. Kai didn't imagine it would be going away after he or she was born. His eyes fell to Nyx's hand as he placed it on his stomach, speaking soft promises. "I trust you," he relayed quietly, placing his hand tentatively on top of Nyx's. He finally looked back up at him. From time to time, he felt unsure about what kind of relationship he and Nyx had. Yes, they both intended to be a part of their pup's life but what were they? Friends, more than friends? He wasn't sure.
Nyx watched him quietly for a moment, smiling softly at him when he finally looked up. “Okay. I’ll get this sorted out and better so you won’t have to worry so much, Alright?” He assured softly. Nyx was quiet for a moment before speaking again. “I’m your Luna, Kai. That’s not gonna change. I’m not going anywhere unless you send me away..” he promised quietly, wanting Kai to know that he wasn’t gonna leave or give up or anything. He didn’t know what exactly his and Kai’s relationship was but that wasn’t extremely important, as long as he still had kai in his life.
Kai listened to his soft and assuring words. He then stepped forward. When he wasn’t drunk, boldness was not an attribute of his. But he wanted affection. Kai took the step forward and he rested his head on Nyx’s shoulder. He wanted to make sure he knew someone cared and Kai wanted to be confident that Nyx would love their pup. If Nyx loved Kai then certainly he would love their pup.
Nyx smiled a bit. He tilted his head, not expecting the boldness from Kai but he welcomed him moving closer, gently putting his arms around Kai. He held him close happily, tilting his head and looking at him. “You And I can do this together.” He said softly, reassuring Kai as much as himself. (Sorry it’s a bit short.
Kai rested his hands on his chest and closed his eyes. ”Yeah. We can,” he agreed softly, turning his nose into his shoulder. He didn’t say anything after that. Kai may not have been physically close to Nyx since that night but the comfort made him feel better. Kai’s hands lightly gripped his shirt and he held onto him.
Nyx fell quiet for a few and just held Kai. He shifted slightly and rested his head on Kai’s shoulder, smiling a bit. “If you want we can go snuggle on the couch..” he offered softly, glancing at him. He just wanted to sit and be close and talk to him for a bit since they didn’t talk a lot or about a lot of stuff.
Kai took a step back then gave a little nod. He followed Nyx into the living room. Kai sat down on the couch, once again taking forever to finally get himself situated. He sat there, resting his hand on his stomach. It was an unconscious movement at that point. ”Do you need to do anything today? Like, when do you need to leave?” he questioned. Most times Nyc had pack things to take care of later in the day.
He followed him quietly. Nyx sat down near him, looking him over quietly. “Not till late tonight, I cancelled some stuff cause I wanted to spend time with you instead.” He explained softly. He smiled a bit. “So I’m all yours until you choose to send me away or till like 10pm.” he looked over at him and smiled, hoping Kai would be okay with them spending the day together.
