Hey great! That's really lovely to hear, Peter!
I should warn you (and anyone else looking to read this book in order to meet their challenge) the chapters set in PNG take place in 1962 - when the region was still a Dutch colony. I don't want to mislead anyone!! You will still learn about the region, fascinating Asmat culture, and incredible landscape.
Happy reading, everyone!

I've just pre-ordered Rituals of the Dead: An Artifact Mystery but I've noticed that it's the 3rd in a series. Are there references to the events or characters introduced in the first 2 books?

Hey great! That's really lov..."
No, I purposely wrote them to be stand-alone novels. Reading the first two may enhance your appreciation of the main character, but you haven't missed any crucial bits of backstory. And THANKS! I do hope you enjoy it.

Art history student Zelda Richardson is thrilled to be working at the Tropenmuseum in Amsterdam on an exhibition of bis poles from the Asmat region of Papua New Guinea—the same area where a famous American anthropologist disappeared in 1962. When his journals are found inside one of the bis poles, Zelda is tasked with finding out more about the man’s last days and his connection to these ritual objects.
Zelda is pulled into a world of shady anthropologists, headhunters, missionaries, art collectors, and smugglers—where the only certainty is that sins of the past are never fully erased...
