When Lars returns home the day Agnes delivers her baby, Sarah notices that his knuckles are cut up but attributes it to his job as a butcher. Did you catch that clue at the time? What did you think?

Robin (robinmy) | 1214 comments I caught it. He became my number one suspect right away. I thought maybe he was having an affair with his sister-in-law and killed her.

I caught it, too, and he never got off my suspect list. I was sure he’d killed Gerda. Admittedly, I got thrown by the other murders for a time but then thought there were two killers.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1392 comments Ditto for me, Jonetta. Those bloody knuckles popped out!

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments To be honest, I missed that one :)
I was preoccupied with the historical background on the charity girls and the serial killer.

I’m shocked, Lauren!

Lol! I know... it happens...

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 694 comments I'm shocked too, lol! It's too hard for me to answer these questions and remember what I though the very first time I read this (this is at least my third read) but, knowing me, I probably missed it. I'm not usually even trying to figure out the who-done-it.

Lauren’s normally the one catching the clues I miss!

~ Giulia ~ | 193 comments I noticed it, and for a short while he became my number one suspect, but then the other murders mislead me and I never thought there were two different murderers.

Christina T (crysteena73) | 180 comments I totally brushed it off to tell the truth. I feel I'm in Lauren's boat. I was all caught up in the history and the shop girls...the unfairness of the time where women were less than second class citizens. I was outraged by the fact women were beaten to death and society blamed them...of course victim blaming is almost as prevalent today as well which is a shame.

I only really suspected Lars when Sarah went back to their household after Dirk's death. I felt a bit like a dunce. I'm usually right on target with whodunit but think the 2 killers threw me off especially as they were not connected at all.

It is a shame that we still haven’t moved the needle much in the way of victim blaming.

The two killers threw me off a bit, too, but I couldn’t let go of Lars.
